coming up. >> thank you you, lisa. developing news out of berkeley where ten people are displaced following a apartment fire t broke out overnight. it houses three apartment units. it took fire crews almost an thundershower to put out the names. officials estimate about $300,000 in damage was done. no word on what caused the fire. a fire destroyed several homes west fairfield south this morning. firefighters remained on the scene overnight to make sure there weren't any flareups. here's what it looked like at 55:00 p.m. yesterday. the front of the home is on fire and firefighters are trying to put it out. another hour later another structure is destroyed by the fire. and you see several fire trucks with hoses dousing the flames. by 7:00 you see the remnants of the first home we showed you. all that remains is a pile of smoke and charred rubble. no word on what started the fire. wind gusts didn't help. the wind was moving 17 miles an hour to the west with gusts up to 25 miles an hour. it was also dry, which is 22% relative humidity. something that did help firefighters, the water drops. a cal fire helicopter came in swooping the fire with water. the fire spread very quickly. abc7 news reporter alan wang has more on how homeowners didn't have much warning. >> we don't really know. >> it was suppose to be the home where they were going to start their new life together. >> i had a wedding dress and our clothes and the dog and we got out of there. and within minutes. the house is gone. >> we lost everything except the wedding dress after a brush fire ignite aid lock interstate 680. the winds were blowing at more than 20 miles per hour and emmers were flying aboss the highway. >> this wind and vegetation, and it was just like a flame torch. >> within minutes firefighters were dealing with a five-alarm fire that burned down one home and four out buildings. utility poles caught fire, pulling down large lines in the neighborhood and this man thought his home and dog were gone. when he arrived, his home was still there and his dog was waiting for them. >> i was worried about the dog. i'm happy to see the dog. >> all lanes ever interstate 680 were shut down during the friday rush hour. residents along the highway are common but they had never seen it spread this fast. alan wang, abc7 news. >> firefighters in san francisco are track an arsonist who seem to be targeting construction sites in the area according to construction crews, at one development one of the fires cost $30,000 in damage. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has more where another fire was set thursday. >> reporter: crews quickly attacked this fire at the plaza u see a firefighter trying to pry open the hood of the car that was set ablaze. according to residents an e-mail was sent out notifying tenants this was the second fire set this week. >> after the first fire the fire department came in and couldn't find the course of the fire, just a lot of smoke and that's it. the second one they said they saw a guy running out of the parking garage and they are investigating the matter. >> building management may have pulled a picture of a suspect from the cameras. but the back-to-back fires are a concern. >> it is scary it happened two days in a row. >> knowing there were other incidents that led up to these last two. i'm sure that's got a lot of people concerned. >> this is the latest in the series of fires of that been set at or near construction sites in the booming south of market neighborhood. investigators with the san francisco police and fire departments are working together as a special joint task force. they want to catch whoever is setting the fire before anyone gets hurt. even getting out of this high rise is a concern. >> it is scary. we are on a really high level so to get out of the building fast is kind of a scary moment for us if the elevators aren't working. >> construction crews tell us they have increased security control and are adding video cameras. abc7 news. two suspects is in custody and a third on the run after a robbery in san francisco. there was a chase on 9th and mission street. three people in the car suffered minor injuries. 3 of 5 suspects armed with guns entered a nail salon and held up victims in a takeover style robbery. no one was hurt. police are searching for a man suspected of stabbing his former girlfriend and kidnapping their daughter. this man is considered armed and dangerous. they say he took the girl from their home near wilson fair oaks thursday and threatened to hurt himself and the girl. an amber alert was issued and he returned his daughter three hours later, but he is still on the loose. his girlfriend has been released from the hospital. a company who owned a number of for-profit colleges said it may have to shut down. they own heal, everest and wire tech schools. it claims a recent department of education decision to delay the school's access to federal student aid means it could run out of money. the government says they provide records that needed. they have 27,000 students in the state. k calf fee giants starbucks is raising their are prices starting tuesday. on average a drink will cost five cents to 20 cents more. and the packaged coffee will increase by a dollar. they are the latest company to increase prices as the price of coffee increases around the world. starting today, a popular tourist attraction in san francisco will not allow people for a while. lumbar streets will be closed the next four weekends. the ban on cars will take place from noon to 6:00 p.m. on saturdays and sundays and on friday the 4th of july. local traffic and taxis will be allowed on lombard as well pedestrian. it's a pilot program put into place after homeowners complained about noise and traffic. contra costa county health officials have confirmed the first human case of the year of west nile virus. a man in his 60s in the central part of the county is out of the hospital and recovering. county officials also confirmed three dead crows found in oakley tested positive for west nile. the virus is typically spread by mosquitoes. officials stress it's important to protect yourself. >> there's evidence that people 50 years or older, as well as people with diabetes or hypertension, might be morselnerrable to symptoms. they are asking those people to protect themselves from mosquito bites as well. >> symptoms include fever, headache and body ache. only about 1% of people infected require hospitalization. 5:09 on saturday morning. guess what, it's this sign says 1 minute parking t was posted on a website where an l.a. city employee saw it and tracked down the sign. it will be replaced but it will stay up while crews make a new one which will say one hour parking. a record number of young coho salmon have been making their way out to sea and it could be because of the drought. according to our media partner they may have been kept in the watershed where their survival chances are greater. they didn't move downstream. water officials counted 20,000 coho in the main watershed this spring. the last time was 11,000 back in 2012. a lot of consequences of the drought conditions. >> yes. we are super dry throughout although the winds are offshore. we will have the on shore component so that's always a good thing. as we look outside and oakland. 57 in san jose with half moon bay 46 degrees. so pretty cool at the coast. we will keep the clouds there. it will be a gray day with temperatures just in the 60s at the shoreline and already you can see day light there. sutro tower with clouds around. call it partly cloudy. 59 in concord. 58 in live more. and the exploratorium camera look at the clouds from our vantage point. the first day of summer today. slightly cooler. yesterday we had the gusty warm winds and it got warm in the north bay with the dry winds. low relative humidity. today doing a little better with the relative humidity and look for a seasonal pattern as we go into next week. here's a look at our pacific satellite picture. we usually see the trough to the east and high pressure off the coast for summertime. this is exactly what we are seeing. so a setting sea breeze keeps coming today, tomorrow, monday and toward the middle of the week. a few minor fluctuation was temperatures coming up a few degrees, down a few. but an area of low pressure will drop down from the pacific northwest by the middle of the week and that should bring some heavy mist and drizzle wednesday, thursday. if you are head up to sonoma, it will be pretty busy up there with temperatures climbing through the 70s throughout the late morning hours. and by 3:00 low 80s. a warm one there. and elsewhere around the bay we have a lot going on. here we are in alameda where temperatures are in the upper 50s. by 3:00 near 80 there. a warm day at the fair and in the 70s for the evening hours. san jose for the week ahead, temperatures in the low 80s. today 80, tomorrow not much change. by monday or tuesday we will add three or four degrees and a slight trough coming into play thursday. los gatos, high clouds around from time to time today. 74 in san mateo, san francisco 66. with winds up to 20 miles an hour. in the north bay we have the reds, the warmer numbers from sonoma to cloverdale. upper 80s there. 71 oakland, 674 union city. you head inland we will see le to mid-80s from 86 pittsburgh and livermore. accuweather seven-day forecast. upper 80s inland, upper 70s around the bay. no real changes tomorrow. maybe a degree or so warmer monday and tuesday. look how steady things go right through the work week. even with the cool-down, it's just a minor one and we will look for the temperatures to slowly come down with the high clouds and low clouds. it is a gorgeous start. the summer solstice just passed and it's the summer season. 3:51 was the official time that summer has been ushered in around the bay area. 58 in livermore. 59 concord. the clouds and marine layer pretty shallow. not amount to go much this morning. they will wash out and we will see a few high clouds this afternoon. temperatures today coming down a bit. we were well into the 90s in the north badu to some strong, gusty north winds. trouble with the fire up toward core deal yeah and today cooler with fog hanging around the shoreline. upper 70s to 80s in san jose. still 60s up toward sonoma county but we will look for a temperate forecast for the first weekend of summer,, the first week of summer as well. >> here's the forecast what kind of summer it's going to be. >> 2013 could turn out to be the worst fire season ever. >> cal fire has an extra $100 million in its budget and it's hired 300 extra firefighters, but that won't help in people in fire prone areas don't clear the brush around their home and go the extra mile to guard against fire. >> be sure your gutters don't have pine needles and leaves in them. i will drive around the neighbor and i can guarantee i will find homes full of pine needles in the gutters. >> set up an evacuation plan for your family, clean up around your home, and go quickly if told to leave. the drought continues to spread to new parts of california. take a look at. this the map on the west shows the conditions last week when 25% of the state was considered to be in an exceptional drought. on the right is this week's assessment. three areas added now considered exceptional for a total of 33% of the state. it's especially bad in the buy i don't know and mountain hills area where farmers are told they won't have enough water to plant their next round of crops. laura anthony reports. >> you can see it's empty right now. it sounds like might remain empty. >> reporter: he has this ten acre plot of organic soil ready to plant for the spring season but the local irrigation district gave him a warning. >> i was advised a. >> over a month ago the plantings i intended to plant here i should not do due to the fact that they are looking at having no water available to us. i intended to grow certified organic tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, green beans, among other things. >> reporter: now all he can do is wait,. he is on the water irrigation board to decide if they will receive their allocations. other growers in the area could be turned off completely. he has been able to sustain his operation by maximizing other plots of land he owns in another water district that likely won't see a cut from the state. from those he is able to offer his customers a nice array of organic fruits and vegetables, but he still worries about the future of his family farm. >> i don't know how i'm going to finish out the year as far as what it's going to mean. i've got a fair amount of money already invested in this particular property that if we do have no water on this property, it is certainly going to affect my bottom line to a pretty good extreme. >> the community of mountain house west of tracy is also 100% depend end on the water district. the health and safety district would allow an exemption but there could be a complete ban on all outside watering. the state water board is expected to signal its intent to the water district and others as soon as next week n mountain house, laura anthony, abc7 news. water conservation may become mandatory in much of the bay area soon. earlier in the year the 2.5 people would get property from the hetch hetchy district were asked to cut back by 10% but the goal was not met. next week they will update their consumption figures and discuss the possibilities of mandatory water rationing. secretary of state john kerry will travel to jordan today to talk about the crisis in iraq. they are sending realtime images to u.s. intelligence. 300 military advisors are being dispatched to assist the army. the opposition has taken over much of northern iraq in an attempt to make a hard-line islamic state. there will be a rallied to calling for no new war on iraq. protesters are calling for the obama administration to focus on healthcare, housing, education and jobs as opposed to another war. today's rally corresponds with the united way's day of action t gets underway at noon at power and marked street in san francisco a new report finds that the government has little evidence that treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder for veterans is effective. according to the l.a. times the government spend $3 billion on ptsd treatment in 2012 but they have not collected data on how effective the treatments are. while the virginia has trained mental healthcare providers on trained treatment, they find the v. a. is not meeting their own requirements to offering the treatments to every veteran in need. >> the
