not so today. we warmed up nicely for the first day of fall. live doppler 7hd is picking up moisture along the oregon and california border. but all of that will stay north of the bay area. the bay area right now is showing you clear skies. and here is a quick look at some of the highs today. we increased temperatures by some 10 degrees. 76 in livermore and 66 in san francisco. right now the temperatures are still holding the heat with 62 this hour in livermore. we will look at my accu-weather seven-day forecast and let you know what you can expect this workweek coming up. >> thank you, leigh. and now to developing news out of kenya. most of the hostages held by al-qaeda-linked militants have been rescued. but the battle rages on. >> there is a major push to flush out terrorists holed up in a shopping mall. and there is more encouraging news nearly two days after the gunmen stormed the mall armed with grenades and automatic weapons killing men, women and children and taking hostages. >> i would like to tell [inaudible] >> but not all. for an unknown number the terror continues. they are believed to be held by a group of 10 to 15 militants in a supermarket, the same supermarket that turned into a shooting gallery when the the -- when they stormed the building. tyler hicks was there. he was in a cafe with his two-year-old daughter when it started. there were a few gunshots. >> nick's wife eight months pregnant hid one floor below in a movie theater. they all escaped. others held inside by a muslim fundamental list group claimed by al-qaeda and were accused of sending troops in somalia. they vow they will be defeated. larry jacobs, abc news, new york. uc berkeley graduate was injured in the attack in kenya. you can see she suffered facial injuries in this twitter photo. her father says she is recovering. >> i say are you okay? something metal come to her chest and then the arm and the leg. >> he graduated in 2005 and currently lives in kenya. three others were injured. a man who sheriff deputies say was speed flying died after crashing on a slope on mount saint helena. he activated his emergency beacon, but died before crew usa rived. they use a parachute to fly close to the ground. we know the name of the man who died. he wasn't breathing when they arrived on scene at the off-ramp. he lived in the city, died at the hospital. two other people in the car were injured. the chp says it appears the car was going too fast to make the turn. new at 11:00, a fire in concord has left a family homeless. flames broke out on grant street. the first floor apartment was destroyed. the fire began when a spark from an electrical outlet landed on a mattress. bart and union leaders are expected to return to the bargaining table tomorrow. the two sides face a strike as early as october 11th if no deal is in place. that's when a cooling off period expires. the two sides remain $112 million uh wart right now. starting tomorrow the downtown san francisco pick up spot for casual carpooling is moving. the new location will be on the west side of spear street between howard and folsom streets. the move is because of a construction project at their regular location on folsom street. some experts are predicting the price of a gallon of gas in california will drop 45 cents by halloween. the reasons include smooth running refineries in california's annual switch to a cheaper winter blend of fuel. a cal professor says it won't be as big in california. >> the reason for the drop is also because there is an over all drop in driving around the country for labor day. california drive a lot and i don't think we will get quite the reduction. the tensions are easing in the middle middle east. gas prices go down about 25 cents this time of yore. this time of year. team usa hangs on for another day. but can they catch up to new zealand? little low clouds and low fog near the coast otherwise we are looking at clear skies and you can see that for yourself. here is a look at our current readings. 61 in san jose and los gatos at 56. golden gate bridge is a-okay. might see a little fog by tomorrow morning's commute. napa right now 57 and novato is mild at 63 and antioch, you are at 65 and livermore 62. here is a look at our forecast highlights. it will be cooler overnight tonight with some patchy fog. sunny and mild for your monday afternoon and then after that the temperatures are really going to cool down. it looks like the coolest day of the workweek will be on wednesday. overnight temperatures with the clearing sky up in the north bay in the 40s. might see a little bit of fog. patchy at best, near the coast and the paw nips law overnight tonight. the temperatures are widespread. most locations in the mid to low 50s. the temperatures will come down a few degrees from last night's overnight lows. speaking of lows, lower pressure sitting toward the pacific northwest. it is helping to continue to generate a few light showers right along the oregon-california border. most of the moisture will stay to the north thanks to a ridge of high pressure that will keep the storm track to the north of us for at least a day or so. get ready for temperatures to warm up another 5 to 6 degrees across the bay area, especially near the coast tomorrow with plenty of sunshine. enjoy it because as we get to tuesday the high will push to the south and cooler parcels of air will slide in behind it, and that means temperatures coming down 10 degrees as we get into tuesday and wednesday. in fact, here is an example. livermore tomorrow is at 84. but check out tuesday. diving down to 76 and by wednesday close to 70 degrees. the winds will pick up as well. move backinds will move back in. kind of a yo-yo affect temperature wise this week. 81 san jose and cupertino 79. it will be mild. redwood city 80. 70 degrees tomorrow and in the north bay 82 for novato as well as napa. on the east bay shore we will look for 76 for hayward and interior east bay locations enjoy tomorrow. 83 for concord and 84 for livermore and 85 for brentwood. the accu-weather seven-day forecast, tuesday and wednesday the temperatures really take a nose-dive. only in the 70s and 50s on wednesday and then thursday and friday the offshore winds pick up and that means we will warm up and it also means some high fire danger for us on thursday and friday. joy something to watch out for, -- >> something to watch out for, thank can imagine it was tough for him to watch. >> it was pretty frustrating. like you said, i haven't missed a game in so long, and to stand there and watch my teammates fight, and there was really nothing i could do about it but watch from the sidelines, it was pretty emotional for me. >> how do you keep yourself involved in a game like that where you can't play? >> just stand by the coach and listen to the plays just so i can get the rep petitions mentally, listen out for what is going on and i can look at my peers. >> i noticed you were talking to kaepernick during the game. he looked frustrateed. >> he was. he was frustrated. he just couldn't make the connection. it was tough for him out there. i just tried to motivate him and keep him going and keep his spirits high. a guy that is so good like kaepernick, you can't let them get frustrated, especially a quarterback. they start to blame everything on themselves. i just had to keep his spirit lifted. >> is colin going through some growing pains maybe that he didn't last year? >> i think he is going through some growing pains. i mean just for anybody. sometimes it can seem like you are here consistently, but then you get bumps and bruises and you start to decline a little bit. you have to learn to stay focused and stay calm and just play ball. >> the play makers need to step up, the wide receiver and the tightened position. obviously couldn't today. it just doesn't seem like we can get something out of the wide receiver position. >> there is nothing like having that chemistry among the quarterback and the wide possibility of a return to the super bowl has put a premium on tickets. 7 on your side's michael finney has a look at what it takes to get into a game. >> excitement runs high in the packed 49er stadium. >> let's go niners! >> the team's final season at candlestick park coming off a spectacular run at the super bowl only rach -- rachets up the bra ma. >> i would love to go. i have great memories of being at candlestick. >> there is a lot of history there. >> demand for tickets is running as high as the excitement and so are the prices. >> 49er tickets are up significantly this year. >> that's jesse lawrence, the ceo of tick-iq. they track all teams on the secondary market c. he says the average resale price for 9er home games has nearly doubled since last year. rising 85%. the biggest jump of any team in the nfl. >> the fact we have seen prices spike as much as we have is a real measure of excitement for 49er fans. >> tickets run an average of $232. that compares with an average of $125 at the start of last season. the 49ers don't set the prices. they are set by brokers by how much fans are willing to pay. some are more in demand than others. the most expensive home game this season is the battle against the atlanta falcons two days before christmas. tickets on the secondary market average $341. the cheapest is a $195 seat in the upper deck. the most expensive is $2300 to sit in a lower box. the second highest is on dis8th, averaging $301, but you can get in for $134 or pay $2,000 to sit near the field. then there are bargains. >> the cheapest ticket for a 49er game is $62 against the rams. you are going to be upstairs, but you are there. >> tickets for the rams average $178. however, you can get in for $69, and the most expensive seat is $714. fans had a hard time finding those cheaper seats. >> the ones i can only find are like four, five and some are even $600. >> there is a way to get in there and get some season tickets. >> it is going to be cheaper to go to tampa and watch them play the bucks. >> while the home games may cost more this year, the 49ers rank 12th in the league for ticket prices. i will let you guess which team fetches the most of all. >> maybe they are not going to win the super bowl, but it will be good entertainment and people are excited about spending their day outs in the pro swren tundra -- the frozen tundra. >> yes, it is the chicago bears. fans pay $433 per seat on the secondary market and then they sit in the friesing cold. making candlestick look like a nice, cozy, bargain. >> you can watch the niners tomorrow. travel plans and we will show some travel destinations and take another look at live construction crew hit a gas main in san bruno near a cal train station and the leak is still open. this is a live look at the scene where pg&e crews are working to cap that leak. trains stopped running through the station and stranded passengers were taken by bus to millbrae. regular train service is expected to resume tomorrow morning. the highway patrol is sifting through thousands of applications of people hoping to become chp officers. our morning traffic reporter leyla was invited to the chp academy to find out what it takes to be a part of the highway patrol. >> when i read the chp media blot camp -- boot camp manual it said they are welcome. it takes 27 weeks of intense training to earn the privilege of wearing the badge. during those weeks the cadets will train physically as well as log nearly 1300 hours of instruction. i learned about firearm training, experienced high speed driving and pursuits, dui, accident investigation and self-defense. chuck king is the captain and commander, 17-year veteran he says the chp is looking for people who can keep up with the military-style training and demonstrate other special characteristics. >> honesty, integrity, professionalism, you know, somebody has to be disciplined. someone that comes on the job because they want to make a difference. >> on wednesdays cadets perform a special ceremony paying respect to the chp's 223 fallen officers. they polish the brass name plates that encircle the memorial fountain. a solemn reminder of the risks that come with the job. while this could be a deterrent for 25-year-old petaluma native alyssa, it is inspiration to take her training seriously and be prepared for the hazards of the job. >> i don't think anyone can say it doesn't scare them. it is definitely in the back of your mind, but they train us very well here to be prepared for whatever we encounter on the road and i am confident once i graduate i will have all of the tools i need to stay alive. >> among those tools is intense physical training. i got a taste of a daily workout . it prepared me for my springs 99. fresno 87 and looking for a little light rain toward eureka. here is a look at the seven-day forecast, warmer for most locations and in the 80s and a cooler tuesday and wednesday, only in
