smoke coming from the house, and no one was home at the time of the fire but they do believe someone lives there. the damage is estimated at $20,000. a des moines mother arrested for leaving her kids alone in an unlocked car at walmart. when customers spotted the three children alone inside a parked car they alerted police. security cameras show the mother inside walmart for 25 minutes. 24-year-old briana webb faces three charges of child the police report states the vehicle was not running and the temperature inside was 49 degrees. and two unopened containers of beer sat in the front cup holders as well. >> you just do not do that in a civilized society. you just don't leave children in a car at all unattended. whether you're going to be inside for five seconds versus five minutes. alyx: police said webb purchased around $20 worth of tobacco products. webb bonded out of the polk county jail friday but the case remains under investigation. we learned new developments yesterday, in a union county death investigation. the iowa dci and union county sheriff's office searched two homes in thayer friday. that's about 10 miles from where a hunter found the body of a 37-year-old woman. investigators tell kcci, one of the homes is dillinger's last-known address, but they aren't saying anything about a connection to the other home they were searching. ngor makuey was pronounced the 20-year-old used a metal spatula to beat to death 97-year-old rupert anderson. he also beat rupert's wife harriet in their des moines home in july 2014. makuey's attorney used the insanity defense during the trial, but witnesses said they saw no signs of mental illness. makuey brought from his home showed premeditation. cook, wasn't going over there to grow. he went over there and the first thing he did was club rupert anderson over the head with that spatula multiple times. alyx: maukey was found guilty of 1st degree murder, assault with intent to commit serious injury, robbery and theft. he faces a mandatory life sentence for the murder conviction and will be sentenced on january 4. to storm the court or not? it's the post-game celebration debate happening across the cyhawk showdown in ames. after iowa state came back to win by one point, fans stormed the court. during the craziness, des moines register columnist randy peterson suffered a compound fracture to his leg. fans we spoke to have different opinions but most told us they think fans should be allowed to storm the court. >> it's just something about college basketball especially to run on the court and you know to see people hugging the players and them hugging back and so it's fun and it helps kind of unite everybody. alyx: big 12 conference officials sent us this statement in part, "the host school handled its post game celebration protocol consistent with big 12 conference rules related to sportsmanship and ethical conduct. game management staff appropriately handled their primary much. i do not think so. >> that's boston. we're in iowa. rose: thursday, boston college officials said 141 students got at a chipotle near campus. this, just weeks after customers in nine states got e. coli infections. to see if iowans should be concerned, kcci dug into the latest health reports. a november health inspection at the ames chipotle, showed one violation of reporting employee illnesses. inspection officials say this violation is not uncommon. >> in this particular case we had an employee, a person in charge, who was unable to adaquetely describe his or her role in the exclusion of employees, dealing with health. rose: an inspection this month, showed the restaurant had fixed the problem. >> so it falls to that person in charge to make sure that his or her employees are being cleanly. there's no cause to worry in the des moines area, in the iowa area. rose: but iowans say the recent health scares have them thinking twice. >> especially with all the other people alyx: in his effort to win the republican nomination for president, donald trump was back friday night at the iowa state fairgrounds. he spoke to about 2000 people at the varied industries building. trump launched his first attacks against ted cruz, who is rising in the polls now. he questioned the senator's appeal to christian conservatives, saying not a lot of evangelicals come out of cuba, and asked how could cruz win iowa if he doesn't support mr. trump: the one guy that is doing pretty good with me in iowa is ted cruz, but with the ethanol, he has got to come a long way because right now he is for the oil. but when oil pays you a lot of money, you have to be for oil. i am with you. >> when nominated, what do you intend to do with ted cruz, will president? mr. trump: it is not a contest tween us and i would say that we certainly have things in mind for him to be honest with you. it is very important for me to win iowa. i could put less pressure on myself and i could say, i do all thinking. alyx: one protestor did disrupt trump's speech. the crowd cheered loudly to drown him out and he was taken away. state troopers said there were also protestors outside who were removed demonstrating against trump's call earlier this week for a ban on muslims entering the country. he did not talk about his feelings on muslims and most of , the supporters there said they agree with him on that. he spoke for about a half hour and then answered questions for nearly an hour after that. hours to see trump. a new cbs news/new york times national poll shows trump with a near double digit lead on ted cruz who jumped to second. retired neurosurgeon ben carson now in third. marco rubio in fourth. and as the first votes in the race for the gop presidential nomination get closer, found shot dead in burundi's capital. this after the government said an unidentified group carried out a coordinated attack on three military installations. the city was not among the neighborhoods officer convicted of being a serial rapist are speaking out. a jury found the former oklahoma officer daniel holtzclaw guilty of 18 counts of sexual assault and rape. his victims he met while on duty in poor, mostly minority neighborhoods. many of the women say they did not originally come forward because they did not believe authorities would believe their story over that of a police officer. divers resumed their search for evidence in a lake near the scene of the deadly shooting rampage in san bernardino. meanwhile, the atf is investigating a suspicious fire at a mosque. teri okita reports from coachella, california. teri: federal investigators searched for clues to determine if a fire at the islamic society of the coachella valley was intentionally set. members say midday prayers were about to get underway when someone threw what was described as a firebomb into the lobby. neighbors say the mosque has >> there was this gunfire and so then they broke all the windows and everything. teri: the muslim community remains on edge for possible retaliation. 75 miles from here, 14 people were massacred by syed farook and tashfeen malik more than a week ago. a senior law enforcement source also tells cbs news that the shooters' cell phones had levels of built-in encryption. the fbi is trying to unlock the phones to determine if the killer couple communicated with extremist groups. so far, investigators have only been able to determine that the deadly shooting spree was at least inspired by isis. >> we're just trying to make sure that we account for every minute of the time that day. teri: dive teams were back at seccombe lake, about three miles from the shooting rampage and recovered an item of interest. officials believe farook and malik may have tossed a computer hard drive into the water. investigators say they don't know how long the search will last. teri okita, cbs news. alyx: investigators are theorizing that the killers' plan may have been grander. pictures of at least one school reportedly found on farook's phone. the university of iowa is now changing the name of its student online information system to something other than isis. that is what its acronym has been, the iowa student information system. it is a one-stop shop for students to sign up for classes or apply for financial aid. but since the rise of the terrorist group isis, the university has received numerous complaints about the system's name. the university hopes to launch its new system with its new name this -- next semester. alyx: more big stories this early monday morning, governor branstad will make history, just for showing up for work. monday branstad becomes the longest serving governor in american history. the governor plans to commemorate the occasion with a special event monday evening at 7:00 at the state fairgrounds. a conversation with governor branstad will be hosted by cbs "face the nation" moderator john proceeds from the event go towards the governor branstad iowa history fund. iowa lawmakers will have less money to work with next year than they previously thought. conference estimates that iowa will make about $7.04 billion for this fiscal year. that is down $9 million from what they projected back in october. lower commodity prices are being blamed for the decrease in revenue. governor branstad and the legislature use these estimates to make their state budgets. des moines area home sales dropped last month, but are still better than they were one year ago. the iowa association of realtors says 806 home were sold in the des moines metro area last month. that's about 50 homes more than were sold during the same time last year. the number of days a home stays on the market continues to fall. it's 61 days on average right now, that's compared to 81 days in 2014. let's switch gears and 5:37 and take a look at the forecast. frank: tomorrow is going to be a little wet so keep that in mind. we have been talking about this rain for the better part of a satellite radar, you just have the clouds out there this morning, maybe some sprinkles to the north and west but i think some of that not making it to the ground. you can see this impulse of energy to the west. it will bring us a chance of rain by this evening. look do these temperatures around the midwest, 61 in kansas city, 71 in st. louis, but it drops sure -- sharply to the north. three-day outlook, a big change coming. today will be dry, the rain moves in this we -- this evening. look at monday, a lot cooler. we are talking about highs in the 30's in the 8 day forecast. alyx: a go-ahead shot in the final seconds of the game gave the cyclones a one point win night. but it's what happened after the buzzer sounded at the end of the game that has lots of people talking. thousands of fans rushed onto the court, but during that celebration, one person was injured, des moines register columnist randy peterson. he suffered a compound facture in his leg. he's currently recovering at a des moines hospital. but late friday afternoon iowa state discovered they did not do anything wrong as far as the big 12 is concerned. the big 12 said in a statement, "game management staff appropriately handled their primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of the teams, coaches, officials and administrative staffs. the conference considers this matter resolved and will have no further comment." last night it was the women's turn for the cyhawk showdown. and kcci's vanessa peng went to hilton to speak with fans. they say what happened thursday night is still fresh on their minds. magic, but des moines register columnist randy peterson only felt pain. >> i was not trampled. i was knocked to the ground. i knew the students were coming and i was trying to beat it. it just did not work. vanessa: students we spoke to were divided on the issue. >> i feel like it was a kind of spur of the moment thing, like they didn't really plan it or anything and i guess when you have that many people, it's going to be kind of hard to stop them anyway. >> i don't think we should allow court storming because there's going to be people that get hurt like that. vanessa: head coach steve prohm told reporters his thoughts during a post game press conference. >> them guys been camping out here for three days. there's probably only like 10 schools that do that in the country so give them their 20 or 15 minutes to do that. vanessa: ames police officials say isu usually hires five officers to work basketball games. two deal with traffic, two provide referee security, which leaves only one officer for end of game crowd management. >> the great thing about hilton coliseum is just the experience people have at a event so to be able to come up with some type affect their ability to get up close and personal at those games. vanessa: as for peterson, he says he's ok with court storming with some changes. >> i get it and i'm not against it. i'm ok with it. let the people who need to get off the floor first. the students can celebrate all they want. alyx: iowa state athletics officials say they are working with big 12 leaders before they make a comment. this week's court rushing incident in ames is one of the first to happen since the big 12 changed its rules following an incident when kansas state upset the kansas jayhawks in february. some who stormed the court pushed kansas coach bill self against the scorers table, and a kansas player was body checked by a fan. after that, the big 12 voted to give the commissioner bob bowlsby broad powers to punish schools with fines, or by taking away a home game in a future season. still ahead, why iowa micro-breweries aren't happy with plans to merge budweiser into the morning tomorrow. alyx: thank you, frank. a merger between two of the world's largest beer companies could affect local craft the two beer giants anheuser-busch inbev wants to buy sab miller in a $107 billion deal. but that has the smaller breweries crying foul. kcci's mark tauscheck explains. >> it's one of the less glamorous parts of the brew, having to shovel this thing out every day. mark: beer isn't always made in giant factories, by shift workers for international companies. mason groben from madhouse brewery in des moines has just a handful of helpers creating their richly flavored craft beers. >> i think it is kind of the evolution of the human hallet, where we want to have more flavors and bolder flavors and just fun new things to try all the time. mark: groben worries a merger between miller and anheuser-busch would create a monopoly over distribution. large beer companies have more money to give to distributors to push their product to grocers and convenience stores and crowd out small craft brewers like madhouse. >> we kind of have a few of the craft beers getting over into the domestic doors. mark: while craft beer now makes u.s., at ingersoll wine and spirits in des moines have seen an even bigger spike. >> i'd say it's at least a 50/50 split nowadays. it's taken the majority of our sales of course away from the domestic beers. mark: the u.s. senate judiciary committee met this week in washington to talk about the merger, and an iowan led the fight against it. >> i favor healthy competition, but a merger of this magnitude could impact supply access and threaten the wholesale tier of the system. mark: groben only sees craft beer increasing its market size, which is why two enemies in the beer world are looking to join forces. >> these big beer companies are feeling the heat from the small guys, and to stay competitive they have to merge together because they're seeing the market share just dwindle and dwindle. alyx: i need to make up for myself. anheuser-busch. there's also worry about how the merger would effect the supply of materials for craft brewers from packaging like bottles and barley and hops. kcci coming in on the backside, wrapping in wind from the west. for monday, could be seeing snow in portions of the dakotas, nebraska, and kansas. here is futurecast starting things out at noon today, mainly cloudy skies, then rain moves in this evening. it sticks around throughout much of the day tomorrow and all the way through the evening hours on sunday. could get a few flurries out to the west on monday but i think that would be extremely isolated. the main threat with this system, a lot of rainfall. i will keep you up-to-date on those latest totals as we head throughout the afternoon. alyx: there it is, the first official trailer for "x-men apocalypse" was released. in the newest installment of the "x-men" series, the superhero mutants are faced with the end of the world by an all-powerful mutant named apocalypse. the film is the sequel to the 2014 film "x-men, days of future past" which made more than $700 million worldwide. the movie will be released memorial day weekend. and everyone is excited about disney's new upcoming "star wars" movie. but an old, long lost walt disney production is also sparking excitement among film archivists. for decades, unacknowledged and unaccounted for, tucked away and among over one million films and tv titles was the long lost disney film "sleigh bells." the six minute silent film, spotted by a disney researcher in london. this after the institute placed its entire database online. the missing work, identified as one of the 26 oswald titles from the early 20th century, is the original big eared creation of walt disney. >> oswald the lucky rabbit is absolutely essential to the disney story. you could say possibly there wouldn't have been a mickey mouse without oswald. >> what i think is really interesting is, if you do the kind of compare and contrast of oswald the lucky rabbit along side mickey mouse, you see real kind of similarities between them. you'll see a visual style that is very much the beginning of the love it, live it. alyx: news to go at 5:58, a des moines mother now faces three charges of child endangerment. police say she left her three children inside an unlocked car thursday while shopping at walmart. the car wasn't on, and the temperature thursday was 49 degrees. security cameras showed the mother inside for 25 minutes buying tobacco products. webb bonded out of jail friday. and in union county, the iowa dci and county sheriff's office searched two homes in thayer . that's about 10 miles from where a hunter found the body of 37-year-old loretta dillinger in a pond on monday. investigators tell kcci, one of the homes is dillinger's last-known address. but they aren't saying anything about a connection to the other home they were searching. fire officials are investigating an early morning house fire at in des moines just before 4:00 this morning. when crews arrived there were flames and smoke coming from the house. no one was home at the time and the damage is
