better look at pete polson's demeanor shortly after pleasant hill police say he went on a shooting rampage last trooper brian moses november. told the jury polson was calm and did not seem under the influence of drugs when he was arrested. this contradicts polson's intoxication defense. the final victim, matthew stephenson, also testified today. he says polson shot at him several times while he was getting in his truck missing him by just an inch. >> i just could not believe someone just tried to kill me and they weren't playing. someone just tried to kill me. i have no idea at that time what's going on. stacey: polson faces multiple charges including three counts of attempted murder. he'll be back in court tomorrow morning at 9:00. steve: the des moines police say a woman discovered a big surprise in a basement. the woman was looking at a build to suit house at 6939th street just before 5:00 yesterday afternoon. she spotted an open cellar door and walked in. that's where she found a large atm. it appeared to have been vandalized to get the money out. the case is now under investigation. new cell phone video of a fire destroying a barn near maxwell this morning. four fire departments were dispatched to this blaze. crews were able to stop it from spreading to a nearby house. no injuries reported. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. let's get over to kcci's vanessa peng is live in studio she explains how uber's new effort assists with amber alerts. vanessa: uber officials say a new effort, launched in more than 180 u.s. cities, means thousands of more eyes and ears looking out for missing children. uber drivers use smart phones to find their passengers, now with the launch of a new initiative, their phones could help find a missing child before it's too late. >> this is definitely going to help and it cannot hurt. vanessa: uber is teaming up with the national center for missing & exploited children to send amber alerts to their drivers. drivers will receive the information by text message when they are logged into the uber app. >> we know they're on the road throughout iowa, which means they're going to be on all the different streets and all the highways. >> there's a lot of uber drivers out there, the company's growing, and you know before long there's probably going to be more uber drivers than law enforcement on the road. vanessa: uber currently operates in four iowa cities, the quad cities, cedar rapids, ames and des moines. >> that's a really good idea. i think with everyone using uber that will be a says he's raised more than $1.3 million since the start of the debate. and social media measures show him leading google searches. more than 15 million people watched last night. that is the biggest tv audience ever for a democratic debate. steve: the democratic presidential candidates spent more time criticizing republicans last night than their counterparts on the debate stage. stacey: today, their fired up republican rivals hit the campaign trail with a counter punch. kcci's sally kidd reports from our washington bureau. sally: the gop candidates are using words like ridiculous and boring to describe last night's match up. sen. rubio: i only watched it for a few minutes and, if it wasn't in high definition, i would have thought it was something from 1985. because every thing was a promise about how government is going to solve your problem by raising taxes on someone. gov. kasich: i find that they just want to talk about the guns. the gun is the easy thing to talk about. and we're not going to take them away from people who are gonna do us harm anyway. it's just not gonna work. sally: some of the gop contenders reacted on social media today. frontrunner donald trump posted an instagram video slamming bernie sanders as too weak to defend the country. on twitter, ben carson touted a fox news poll showing him beating clinton by 11 points nationally. and jeb bush tweeted the debate made it clear all of the democratic candidates are running for an obama third term. the rnc says the debate was a predictably stale evening of liberal politicians proposing to spend trillions of dollars we don't have. reporting from washington, i'm sally kidd. stacey: republicans are up next. their debate is set for october 28 in boulder, colorado. steve: right now in the middle east israeli police are blaming , palestinians for a wave of deadly attacks. at least 3 israelis were killed today dozens more are injured. , 2 attackers were also 70-year-old woman as she was boarding a bus near jerusalem's crowded central station. earlier, police say they shot and killed an arab man, after he pulled a knife and tried to stab them. the israeli military has started to deploy hundreds of soldiers in cities across the country. the troops will be helping police deal with this wave of deadly palestinian attacks. secretary of state john kerry plans to travel to the middle east soon to help ease soaring tensions. stacey: new cell phone video now of a deadly plane crash in florida. the national transportation safety board says two people were killed when the small plane crashed into a mobile home park. one of the deaths was the pilot the other was someone killed on , the ground. investigators don't believe there were any passengers on the plane. steve: nevada investigators are trying to get a blood sample from lamar odom to determine if the former nba player and reality t.v. star, suffered from a drug or alcohol overdose. the 35-year-old was found unconscious on tuesday afternoon at a nevada brothel. the owner says odom had been there since saturday and appeared to be healthy before he was found face down in a bed by 2 employees. >> management came in, called 911. 911 said, put him on his left side and they did. he started throwing up, he was still alive. steve: odom's ex-wife khloe kardashian has reportedly been by his side at a las vegas hospital since last night. the couple married in 2009, but kardashian filed for divorce in 2013, citing irreconcilable differences. stacey: belichick back in with frank for a at the forecast. frank:
