Standley Lake baby bald eagle SL1 dies after nest collapse — The Know

SL1, a popular baby bald eagle (right) born to parents known as Dad and F420, died May 13 when the tree holding the eagles’ nest collapsed at Standley Lake Regional Park. The eaglet was not yet able to fly when the nest fell and will be buried in a sacred ceremony in a Rocky Mountain Arsenal location blessed by Colorado indigenous tribes. When a bald eagle known as F420 laid eggs more than two months ago in a nest above Standley Lake, the fledgling eagle family became the stars of their own Colorado sitcom.
