UMBC’s Nick Dupuis ended the longest game in school history, propelling the Retrievers past Stony Brook, 13-12, in quadruple-overtime Saturday. The win was UMBC’s second-straight OT win and moves them to 2-0 (1-0 America East). Both goalies shined in the extra periods with multiple saves, weathering man-down attempts and scoring chances. UMBC senior goalie Tommy Lingner (Fort Salonga, N.Y.) made 16 saves, including a game-saving one at the end of the third OT. Stony Brook’s Anthony Palma made two big saves in the third for 12 total. For Dupuis’ third and game-deciding goal came on EMO, when he started at X, got to GLE, faked and buried low just before taking a hit.
