Editorial: CONSOLIDATION More opportunities in the courts
Keep an eye on the pending consolidation of four Chautauqua County town courts into one.
French Creek and Mina officially merged judgeships earlier this year after home rule legislation was signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Sherman officials tried to consolidate two judge positions into one last year because of declining case volumes but had the decision overruled by town residents before both justices left the bench on their own. Clymer officials had a vacancy and are using Denis Cooper, French Creek-Mina judge, as Clymer’s acting judge.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. Down 1-0 three minutes into the first quarter, Syracuse finally had its first possession of the game after a nice save by Drake Porter that was followed by a clear. A team that usually takes 31 seconds for its first shot hesitated this time, taking 46 seconds to navigate Georgetown’s defense and find an open shooting lane.
The shot by Tucker Dordevic missed, and Stephen Rehfuss hit the post on the ensuing shot. Another shot by Dordevic followed, this one saved by Owen McElroy, the Division I save percentage leader. McElroy lobbed a half-field pass for the clear, one that Syracuse’s defenders stood and watched happen.

Down six in the third quarter, Syracuse killed Georgetown’s man-up opportunity when the Hoyas attack lost his footing at X and dropped the ball. With a chance to recover and potentially spark a comeback in what turned into a scoreless third period for the Orange, Owen Seebold fired a shot. The ball crashed into a defender, and the Hoyas went on to tack on three more goals during the third quarter via Dylan Hess, Jake Carraway and Graham Bundy.
