PEMBROKE — The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is offering free COVID-19 testing at the Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex in Pembroke on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Educators, students, and residents are encouraged to come to the drive-thru event at 6984 NC Highway 711 to receive a test, according to the Tribe.
Participants will receive personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies at the event. 
The event is sponsored by the Building Resilience and Vital Equity (BRAVE) Project, Lumbee Tribe of N.C. and North Carolina Central University's Advanced Center for COVID Related Disparities (ACCORD) program.
As of Monday, Robeson County has more than 15,000 active COVID-19 cases and has reached 212 deaths. The Lumbee Tribe has tested nearly 6,000 residents in and out of the county since last summer, according to the tribal administration.
