Fresh on their minds, cal fire did not hesitate to evacuate 150 families nearby. The next morning, literally, in bear creek itself, it was a severe mix of destruction. On one side, a picturesque Santa Cruz Mountain scene. On the other, a wildfire burning out of control. Todays forecast was about as good as it gets. Short of it actually raining. Calm winds, cool temperatures, and high humidity kept the flames low and slow. With the flames creeping along the ground, the strategy here in this canyon is to let it burn all the way to the waters edge, then all the way to the manmade fire.
