Local News: Council OKs sidewalk, bike path study (2/25/21)

The Eureka Springs City Council is showing support for a proposal to add sidewalks and bike paths to Pivot Rock Road and East Mountain Street.
On Monday night, council member LauraJo Smole presented the proposal. Smole suggested appointing a committee including planning commission members to conduct a feasibility study. From there, Smole said, the committee would present its findings to the council. Smole also suggested including a representative from the Eureka Springs City Advertising and Promotion Commission on the committee.
"There's possibilities that they have some monies we might be able to access," Smole said.
Mayor Butch Berry said the CAPC can't spend money on "bikes and paths." Smole asked if it would be OK if the paths connected the hotels and restaurants and Berry said no.
