The Eureka Springs Advertising and Promotion Commission has a new tourism director.
At a special called meeting on Wednesday, July 21, the commission agreed to hire Madison Dawson at a salary of $60,000 per year with a moving allowance up to $2,500.
The commission interviewed Dawson on July 12, followed by an interview with candidate Garry Holstein on July 19.

The commission began its July 21 meeting at 4:01 p.m., and commissioner James DeVito moved to adjourn to executive session.
When asked the purpose of the executive session, DeVito said it was to hire a director. Chairman Jeff Carter said the item was on the agenda. DeVito did not give a reason for the executive session in his motion.
