A september 11th events has been held around the country. The one just included in San Francisco. The mayor joins us live as she does every month. Things for being with us, mayor. Why is it important for you to be a part of september the services and your city . We all remember that fateful day when it happened on september 11th 18 years ago. We saw what happened and how it made us feel. I think that it is also important to remember the acts of heroism amongst members of the police and Fire Department in new york and how they ran towards the danger to save and protect lives. There wouldve been many more lives lost had it not been for their bravery. It is important that we remember that we never forget. That we, on today, september 11th, honor the ultimate sacrifice is 70 people made. Lets move to some news from just this morning. To big San Francisco Companies Say the city can keep money no matter the reports of a challenge from the opposition. Are you calling on the same other companies to make the same move . The fact is that the legislation that occurred, i put forward in order to allow companies to do justice. We have been reaching out to a number of companies to ask if there was interest. These are the two companies that stepped up. We are asking all companies to do this. A court case is going to last for many years. In the meantime, we still need to collect the money, regardless of the outcome. We want those who cant afford to provide these resources now to do so because we have a crisis now, and we need the resources to address it. Many people say that bit tech and high salaries are to blame for the homeless crisis in your city. Are big tech openings doing enough to help the people in San Francisco . I think that there are a number of factors to blame. There is not one entity to blame. I do think that Tech Companies can do a lot more than they have been to support and invest in San Francisco, not just for challenges around homelessness, but making sure that services and support and resources are provided for plate are provided for places all over San Francisco, especially in our low income communities. My plan is to work to hold them accountable to do just that. Smokeless stay in the court here. The nra just announce that they are suing San Francisco after supervisors unanimously agreed to label the nra a domestic terrorist organization. Do you agree with that designation . I think that, unfortunately, the nra has been obstructionist to real gun laws that help to reform the system. Is someone who grew up in a community where, sadly, guns have led to a lot of tragedy, a lot of loss of life, we need to do more common the fact that they continue block sensible gun reform legislation is what is the biggest problem, and they need to be held accountable. We are not going to sit back and allow them to continue to operate without any consequences, and this is what the board enacted and we think it is important appropriate to do so. Did you sign the resolution . I do not sign binding resolutions as a matter policy, but i do support their efforts and what theyre proposing. s reckless move to a dig big proposition by San Francisco. You offered to buy the citys share of pg e. Its power grid and assets for two and 1 billion. Where does the city get that kind of money . Part of it is that there are assets and we have the ability to borrow against those assets. It is a Financing Mechanism that we have used to make significant repairs to our system and improve the Public Utilities assets over a number of years. They control a major power and system for the city and county of San Francisco. The with our existing clean tower clean power program, we still work with pg e for distribution of power, this is an opportunity for us to control our own Power Systems of the weekend truly have public power and operate it directly ourselves. So we did not take this offer lightly. We did work with consultants to understand what this could mean, and i think that this is a competitive and fair one. We could talk for an hour but we will have to leave it here. Thank you for joining us, especially on such a busy day. Thank you so much. Of course. Leased it with us. Warnings on 2 will be right back. It is 7 30 am, this is a great way to start your day. The golden globe, if you like it hot, some people do, it is going to get there in the coming days. Follow me. We are going to fly right over the water. We are going to breeze right on through. It is wednesday, september 11th. And i am gasia mikaelian. Up in the mountains, it is 27 this morning. Up in truckee , a little freezing fog. Those supercooled water droplets, as soon as they touch anything, they can freeze. The dew point, it equals fog in truckee, and it seems like it switched to fall. The annual migration for of storage boats from turkey to tahoe has begun. It is 31 degrees. That didnt take long. And we had some rain today. I think next monday and tuesday, could be even lower but we are getting ahead of ourselves. 70 yesterday. Up, up, up we go. Upper 80s after an end unseasonably warm day yesterday. We will go above average for a lot of these eyes, they will rocket up thursday and friday. Maybe upper 90s for some. Right now, were looking at 40s and 50s on most of the temperatures here. Low clouds are very low. We will get chewed up and i high is kicking in which will give us a robust warming trend but it will not last. Placenta, major cooling is on the way. May be our first ring of the season will kick in. Again, it would be until monday afternoon or evening. We have warm temps on the way, but i monday, could be a big change year and tuesday as well. Just heads up as we head through the next five days. We will see extreme step. 60s and 70s and 80s. 7 30 am. Tell us about the east. We are turning the camera and in the meantime, i will show you the south bay. I just allowed our camera to focus in on the album on the east shore, but the accident is happened at north albany. You can see right now highway 101 is slowing down. Getting up into sunnydale. Freeways here, and you can see the south bay map is getting busier for the drive into the west valley. Super tino, palo alto, that is not unusual. On palo altos commute, we had an earlier crashed university. That is been clear. Traffic has recovered somewhat. A little slow still. In the space, commute will be slow. New crash reported at westbound 80 at the albany exit. As we put the camera it would be at the top of the screen. It should be blocking lanes. I dont see anything up there, but it could be camera view. We will watch it for you. The bay bridges backed up for about a 20 minute delay. 7 33 am. Lets go back to the desk.
