About an hour and a half ago, 911 got a call of a brush fire in the black point area of east novato in marin county. The fire, which was stopped at about nine acres, threatened numerous rural homes, leading to evacuations of five streets. Units from cal fire, marin fire, willmar, san rafael fire, and novato fire, all were aided by two aerial tankers that made short work of the fire spreading in gusty winds. Anytime you have dry brush, high winds, on a hot day, its never a good thing. But thankfully, out of an abundance of caution, we issued evacuation orders, and with the quick workinside, we were watching tv, and the sheriff came through on the loudspeaker and told everybody theres a fire at the top of the hill.
