a big drop in a lot of these temps. napa airport now down 17, at one time it was 22, double digits sfo, oakland, concordia. san jose has no chance compared to 24 hours ago, they are still 51. they were 51 yesterday but lakeport is 38, santa rosa 37. 40s on the coast. half moon bay down 20 compared to this time yesterday. livermore at 45. upper atmosphere still a northerly component at the surface, though it's almost variable. there's a little north or a little southeast or east- southeast or west so it's all over the place. but high pressure is going to win out with the low stuck down in the four corners, the high to the north, we just really get very quiet pattern. it's nice, 60s, 70s and 80s. over to sal now at 7:01, who will tell us -- >> no, no. >> it is crowded out there. it is going to be a tough commute, although we have some improvement, for example, the earlier commute we had on 80 is getting a little better, but when you get to the bay bridge you will see there's a big line waiting for you there. it's backed up from the macarthur maze and metering lights on. no problems on the bridge itself but getting onto the bridge tough. visibility is good, though. you can see it's not foggy or windy really. it's a nice looking drive that way. san mateo bridge, the same thing goes, not very windy, not foggy. heading off to the peninsula, southbound 880 slows just after 238, pretty much slow all the way to stevenson in fremont. no problems on the peninsula. 280 is beginning to get slow, so is 85 and 101, 280 right through downtown is slow. that's northbound 280 on the right there. you can see it's stop and go on your way up to cupertino. go back to the desk. >> thank you. pg&e says it expects to restore power sometime today for the thousands of remaining customers who had their power cut as a wildfire prevention measure. the forced outages are in the north bay as well as the sierra foothills. leigh martinez live this morning for us right there outside pg&e headquarters in san francisco with more on the story. leigh. >> reporter: yes, more than 4000 customers in lake and napa counties are still without power this morning. pg&e says that they want to turn the power back on for them by today. that is the plan. however, they don't have an estimated time as to when the lights are going to be able to go back on. this was a first for pg&e, de- energizing the system to keep wind, heat and equipment from clashing and combusting. 59,000 customers in the north bay and sierra foothills had their power shut off at 8:00 p.m. sunday during a red flag warning of dry conditions, low humidity and winds blowing more than 60 miles per hour. many of last year's devastating wildfires were caused by powerlines that came down and strong winds. on monday morning pg&e crews began to inspect the lines to make sure they were not damaged. by midnight pg&e said it restored power to 70% of customers but 21,000 remain without power. after 24 hours without power, not everyone was on board with pg&e's proactive approach to preventing wildfires. >> if they can shut it down that quick, they can turn it back on that quick. we are going to do what we want and we are going to turn the power off and we are not going to worry about any fires. and that's just it. it's that simple. nothing we can do about it. >> it's a game, a silly game. >> reporter: now, many complaints came from customers who say they were not given nearly enough notice to prepare. several restaurants were forced to close, one store owner gave away his food rather than throw it in a dumpster and several schools closed on monday due to the power outage, which also forced many parents to stay home from work to care for their children. we did get word from several lake county school districts saying that they are going to open school up today. now, pg&e says the plan is to get power restored to all those customers by today so they don't have an estimated time -- except they don't have an estimated time. they are inspecting some of the powerlines out there. in san francisco, leigh martinez, ktvu fox 2 news. a 20-year-old man is under arrest accused of trying to same months in 2016. researchers found there's more traffic than ever before and concluded that ride share cars specifically added 50% to the congestion. both uber and lyft, as you would imagine, are slamming the new study. they say the report did not factor in the explosion of scooters in the city, plus an increase in tourism and the number of freight deliveries. time now 7:14. if you're just to tell you. the bay bridge backup is about 25 minutes and we are also having some slow traffic here on the carpool lanes that i have just noticed and that means everything is getting more crowded. usually when this happens either there's a crash that we don't know about yet but there are the lanes and we will see what happens, maybe there's something just upstream that's slowing traffic. in san talked about, young people notoriously when it comes to election day, they are energized beforehand but on the actual day, where are they? what's different this time? >> one of the things that i think is different is the times are difference than the last time we had young people voting. i think there's a lot happening on the national scene that's getting their attention and usually in midterm elections people aren't thinking about a national -- you know, national elections but i think people are already thinking about them so i think that's one really great thing. the other thing is here different places, we have the mascots from some of our san jose giants and the earthquakes q. q will be out there. and part of it is making sure it feels like a community effort. i think one thing that people don't know is the number 1 way that pre determines whether or not you vote and that i voted was whether or not our parents voted. and part of that was building community around it. i knew when my parents voted. it was a big deal in our house. >> you think this is the same way for kids today, to build a sense of election coming up, register, vote, it leads to a lifelong pattern? >> i hope so. we get a chance to remind people if you vote by mail in santa clara county, you vote for free. you don't charge people percentage. -- postage. >> reporter: really. >> you never know how much to put on it and for every district it's different because your ballot size is different. >> reporter: i just put three. busy day for you over at the board of supervisor today including help for teens who need help? >> well, that's right. so one of the things we are voting on is to support a lease with the city of san jose and services for a transgender youth shelter and part of the point we are trying to make with young people even voting today is that their voices matter. we have young people come out and tell us they didn't feel safe in our shelters, they were being turned away from their homes because they are transgender and they needed a safe place and as a community we are rallying around them to respond. >> reporter: waiting for a response from the city, from what i hear? >> yes, we are waiting for the city, the city tells us that they could sign their part of the lease as soon as december but we'd like it to be sooner. we want this up and going, we have children every day sleeping on the streets and we'd like to end that. >> reporter: supervisor, appreciate your time this morning. >> thank you. >> reporter: busy day. see you at the rally at one of those schools. 13
