Watching that cruise ship carrying people who tested positive for the coronavirus as it continues to circle outside the San Francisco bay. In just hours that ship will head to the port of oakland. This is where were tracking the ship now about ten miles off the coast. And here is a map showing where the ship is set to arrive. Some of those passengers on the grand princess have coronavirus, and some of the 3,000 passengers will face two weeks quarantine once they make it back here to land. Today in the bays Sharon Katsuda live where theyre planning for that arrival. Sharon . Reporter the port authorities and local Officials Say they are ready to respond to the governments decision to let the cruise ship dock here at the port of oakland. The ship has been sitting off the coast for several days while the cdc tested those onboard, about 2 dozen people onboard, mostly crew members, tested positive. They will stay onboard and move to a different location. The other 2,000 or so plus passengers who did not test positive will disembark and be transported to different locations such as Travis Air Force base and other states if they dont live in california. Foreign travelers will be transported to Oakland International airport and mayor libby schaaf and Governor Newsom say theyve been advised passengers will only be on the tarmac, never in public space at the airport. The Vice President himself individually working, weve had three conversations in the last 24 hours directly. Reporter the passenger who needs medical help will come off first and a couple passengers who tested positive will be quarantined and treated at local hospitals. The sevenday forecast is already up at the bottom of the screen as we check out our highs for today and see whats happening on the radar. Right now its fairly quiet. A few spotty, light showers left behind. We can still see the center of the storm well off the coast just to our south and west. That will be pushing some rain in as we go into today. Now this will be more of a rainmaker, will measure up to quite a bit more for parts of Southern California. Well see spotty rain, most near the coast and a better chance of showers moving into the south bay and the south county. Look at how much rain we could see across areas like l. A. And over to palm springs. Theo the bay area the lesser amounts of rain well see up to a tenth of an inch between now and wednesday when that system moves through. For the sierra very light snow. Look at all the snow being picked up on the computer models possibly three feet of snow in some of our upper elevations. Were seeing a change in our weather pattern here that looks quite a bit wetter after this system moves on. There will be another one dropping in for the weekend that will bring the bay area rain as well as that sierra snow. A look at how our week shapes up. Well see hour temperatures warming up even as the showers move through for much of the south bay. And then warming up and drying out midweek. Green sensors are great. The crash, we did talk about that just off the nimitz. Its a problem coming off the Castro Valley. Theres also construction that had that ramp closed just before 4 00. They were supposed to clear that. Took a few minutes extra. Now in that backup that forms approaching the crash just shy of the 880 we do have the construction crews which are still likely clearing up the roadside efforts as well. Just be prepared.
