about safe ways to handle food and other items from other people, at the elementary level it's, you know, you have to have age-appropriate conversations, elementary students are, it's a different conversation about just being safe and not taking food from others at our school. we are not really wanting people to bring in things not in the original packaging just to be on the safe side there, so we have our staff look at that and talking to the parents about making the right decisions. >> sandra: i think that is a conversation a lot of parents are having all over this country because it can be something as simple as something that looks like gummy bears in a bag laced with fentanyl and kids are not necessarily looking for that. so, what is your advice to parents where this could turnp anywhere? i mean, this could happen anywhere. what do parents need to tell their children? >> well, i think the first major thing is you know, don't take things from other people. go back to that old analogy there. if you don't know where it came from, don't take it, don't ingest it. need to be very careful there. our students again in this situation, they were just sharing things at lunch, at the lunch table and just came, you know, they were just handing it out. as far as our younger parents, parents of our younger children really having the age appropriate conversations. be careful, not take anything from strangers, even our friends. those were friends, not necessarily stranger, but be careful what we are doing. i think with the middle school and high school-aged parents, the parents of those children, you know, we need to really be careful because we are all seeing a big increase in the thc-laced gummys and vape pens in our community and need the parents to have the conversation. >> sandra: that is horrifying. >> and we need to really talk about that and have the conversations. and i want to go back to kinds of the ronald reagan statement of trust but verify, we want to trust our kids, we want them to know that as they are growing up we trust them, but we also need to make sure that as parents we are doing our part to keep them safe. >> sandra: absolutely. as you said in your message, parents need to take charge, it's here, fentanyl, you said, and it is real. so, we wanted to make sure we get that story in there and we'll be following what happens with 26-year-old nicole sanders and clifford duggan, jr. >> john: jake sullivan in israel as the deadly fighting in gaza shows no sign of letting up. and israeli prime minister benjamin executing a search warrant at president biden's residence as a deciding factor for not allowing it, even though she agreed probable cause existed. prosecutors said not to ask about the big guy or dad when conducting interviews. >> steps by doj i've never seen in my 14 years and makes no sense. >> wolf tips off the biden counsel about your plan to search the storage unit. is that right. >> absolutely. >> john: former doj prosecutor lesley wolf, on the hot seat as part of the hunter biden investigation. >> sandra: testifying behind closed doors after whistleblowers said she obstructed the fbi investigating president biden during the five-year-long probe. the panel sounds off in moments. first, a fox news alert from the white house. >> john: awaiting the first white house briefing since house lawmakers voted to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into president biden. republicans turn up the heat in their investigations of the first family. hello, john roberts in washington. good thursday afternoon to you, sandra. >> sandra: and good to be with you, john. sandra smith in new york. house formalizing the impeachment inquiry with a party line vote of 221 to 212. gop says it's necessary to strengthen their standing with any future court battles. depositions could be conducted over the holidays, in the wake of the house decision. republicans say the president benefitted financially from his son hunter's foreign business dealings and their investigations into the matter could run deep into the 2024 election cycle. >> john: michigan democratic congresswoman debbie dingell is raising a red flag of polling out of her state, trailing president trump in a head to head match-up. peter doocy live at the white house, but chad pergram live on capitol hill with the latest. >> chad: good afternoon. the vote to formalize the impeachment inquiry gives house investigators more power to summon witnesses for depositions, many republicans finally jumped on board. >> this administration has been holding us up saying there is not a formal impeachment inquiry, we are not going to give you paperwork, not going to let people testify, so that excuse is gone as we pursue what's happening here. >> chad: former doj official lesley wolf, they want to know why she let the statute of limitations expire before investigating burisma. they say parameters of the investige not clear. >> they don't know why they want to impeach him. the floor debate, a range of different reasons, they don't know. almost reached the verdict before they have held the trial. >> chad: the house could soon vote to hold hunter biden in contempt of congress. democrats contend republicans are focussed on impeachment, and failed to find successful policy solutions. >> it's shameful but that's the reality that we confront. and we are going to continue to point out the contrasts between house democrats, team reasonable, team normal, team get stuff done. >> chad: it's unclear if the house will ever take an impeachment vote. conservative voters will apply pressure to the house to impeach the president some time in 2024. democrats say that's why impeachment is all about politics. john. >> john: as are most things on capitol hill these days it seems. chad pergram, thank you. >> sandra: on top of all of that, now official impeachment inquiry, president biden's re-election campaign is being weighed down by his son's potential criminal trial as well as ad polling. how will that play out for him in 2024? peter doocy is standing by live at the white house ahead of a critical white house press briefing. peter. >> peter: we saw hunter biden claim yesterday on outside of capitol hill that he thinks he's the victim of what he calls the trump attack machine, and now trump himself is out on the campaign trail in iowa trying to tie hunter biden and his problems to his dad, the president. >> they have gone back to crooked joe and if they give him enough money -- did you see hunter, he went to the wrong place, he went to the senate instead of the house. everyone is saying where is hunter, you know, where is hunter. >> peter: president biden is saying aboutg to help m is not supported by facts. and there are some democrats now saying they don't think the support for this inquiry during the vote yesterday was all organic. >> i think it's trump, i think it's trump working behind the scenes. i think it's trump's people working behind the scenes, calling the members and saying you better be with us. >> peter: this impeachment inquiry phase is going to be a distraction for some folks that work here at the white house but publicly they want to show the american people they can do other stuff so have john kirby come out ahead of karine jean-pierre to talk about the urgency to get money to ukraine, things that they are or are not doing to help israel, and then they are going to talk about whatever else the president plans to do to round out the year. this is not going to be a big part of their pitch to close out 2023, though. >> sandra: we know you will be there with your questions and watching for all of that. thank you, peter, live at the white house. >> john: just ahead, michigan democratic congresswoman debbie dingell for more on this. congresswoman, always good to have you on with us. we mentioned as we were getting to chad pergram this new poll, cnn poll of michigan. these are always snapshot times, but the snapshot at present does not look good for joe biden. donald trump in a head to head match-up gets 50%. biden 40%. the president won it by three points back in 2020. 154,000 votes. i know you have been raising the alarm about this with the white house. what have you been telling them? >> so, let me be clear, first, and talk about the poll, which is i don't believe any poll because everybody told me i was crazy in 215 and 216 when i was -- i said to people, donald trump could and then i believed he would win michigan. you know what i think about this poll, i think it's snapshot in time. i think that there is real work that has to be downtown in migrant to tell the story of what the president has done, what he's delivered on, what he's accomplished, and to draw the contrast between the president -- between our president currently and president donald trump. but what i feel good about is that it's getting the attention. it's getting the attention of those that matters, people understand migrant is a competitive state, ance a lot of work that has to be done but i know it's got to be done. i've spent a lot of time in that state in a lot of different places and roll up our sleeves and we are going to make people sure that people know what's at stake when they walk into the poll a year from now. >> john: congress will be going back home to the home districts over the christmas holiday, returning some time in january and immediately upon their return republicans and two committees of the house will be taking up the impeachment inquiry. how do you think that could affect president biden politically? >> so i have my own theory on all of this which is i think we are conducting an impeachment inquiry to balance the indictments that president trump has got and distract the american people from the fact we could be at looking at two -- well, partial government shutdown on january 19th and another partial government shutdown or total if we have not done something to fund the government by february 2nd. we have a lot of things that we need to do. i think it's outrageous that we have left washington and not done ukraine funding, humanitarian funding. in the border needs to be discussed. the president has said it himself. people are tired and need to go home, we have things to do. the policy issues are what the american people are going to hold us accountable for. >> john: a lot that congress will leave on the table but how do you think this impeachment inquiry might affect joe biden politically as we head into an election year? >> i think a lot of people think it's political. they think it's exactly what a number of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, some not saying publicly but i know how some arms were broken. i think it's a real problem for republicans in seats that biden won, some by as much as 13 points. so i think many people, not -- it's an issue, are going to call it exactly what it is, a political issue and people are going to be reminded probably more than donald trump wants about all the cases he's been indicted in and i think that's going to be part of next year's campaign. period. >> john: it will be dynamic, no question about that. ask you quickly if i could about a move by republicans in the house to hold hunter biden in contempt of congress for not showing up for the subpoena yesterday. kelly armstrong, republican from north dakota saying when you show up on the capitol steps to hold a press conference instead of sitting for your deposition, it would seem you want to be held in contempt. i'm comfortable obliging him. navarro was put in handcuffs and arrested at reagan airport. >> hunter biden said make it open, make it transparent and i think he has a right to ask for that. i think a lot of republicans are playing games, political gotchas and watch the trump trials and they should be able to see the hunter biden testimony. i think we need transparency in some of these very political investigations right now and trials. >> john: it would be a lot of must-see tv. >> yes, it would be but i think the american people should be seeing it. let them make their own decisions. >> always great to catch up with you. >> sandra: members of hamas and others accused of planning terrorist attas in europe arrested in germany, netherlands and denmark. alex hogan is live in london. what do we know as the story is just breaking? >> hi, sandra. multiple arrests across multiple countries, accused of attempting to carry out terrorist attacks. at least three of them are long standing members of hamas. now, what we do know at this point, authorities say they are on high alert, three people were detained in germany, one person detained in the netherlands and three others arrested in denmark on suspicion of terrorism and israel has linked all seven people to hamas, although denmark has not specifically named hamas yet. as is usual, the full names of those arrested have not been released but this is what we do know of the german-led investigation. two men from egypt, one born in lebanon tasked to take weapons to berlin, and one man is a dutch national, in his 50s, and he was arrested in rotterdam but also linked to the danish operation, law enforcement say they prevented a major attack. >> this is as serious as it gets. i'm pleased with the work of the authorities. it shows something about the kind of situation we are in in denmark. >> german leaders say attacks on jewish people have increased in recent weeks and the danish justice minister says it confirms the danish jews are also under threat. and denmark will increase police presence in copenhagen, and the three arrested in germany, they will go before a judge tomorrow. >> sandra: alex, thank you. john. >> john: a live look at the white house where we are expecting the first briefing since the house voted to launch an impeachment inquiry into president biden. we will monitor the goings on there and take you live just as soon as it happens. >> sandra: we are watching that, and on capitol hill the president's son is once again taking the spotlight. republicans questioning a federal prosecutor they say covered up for the biden family. tammy bruce and former pennsylvania congressman patrick murphy are up next who that prosecutor is. >> she's the one who said you can't use the term big guy when you do interviews, you can't talk about political figure number one, we all know is joe biden. we want to ask her questions about all of that. jennifers. jen x. jen y. and jen z. each planning their future through the chase mobile app. jen x is planning a summer in portugal with some help from j.p. morgan wealth plan. let's go whiskers. jen y is working with a banker to budget for her birthday. you only turn 30 once. and jen z?
