"the washington post" is givings president joe biden four pinocchios for claiming his son never received money from china writing quote nearly three years later biden's assertions have been directed by hunter himself in court testimony last week the younger biden admitted he in fact had been paid substantial sums in china. this as "the washington post" also revealing, guys, that former president obama is privately warning biden that trump is a more formidable candidate than democrats realize another headline because i have been up reading all the headlines on this historical day. literally the trump indictment brings us closer to the rematch america really doesn't need. the last line my favorite. america needs a campaign centered on the future, not the past. yet, the nation edges ever closer to a trump-biden rematch that next to no one wants. strong words there from the "new york post." guys, sent it back to you. >> steve: plenty of time to read the papers out there. so, griff, can you explain why the judge, the magistrate today is not the same person who is going to preside over the criminal trial whenever that happens? >> griff: well, that's a formality the way these things happen and the magistrate judge will hear this first court appearance which we all believe will likely be an arraignment. but it will ultimately get to the trial and there's a lot of attention on that judge her name is tonya which the kin, a 2014 obama appointee upper she notably presided over several of the january 6th riot cases and gave gave some of the harshest sentences of that. that's going to get a lot of attention once we get this trial underway. steve? >> ainsley: thank you so much. they are going to hear charges today. if it is an arraignment it will be trump's team opportunity to enter a plea. on truth social trump wrote gobble get a fair trial in washington, d.c. which is over 95% anti-trump. he said the indictment is all about election interference. and then he put up a picture of himself pointing like uncle sam and it says on this meme it says in reality they are not after me. they're after you. i'm just in the way. >> brian: so bill barr actually pretty interesting interview and his take you know how he feels trump and him had a deep fracture. he is able to separate how he feels about the law. he says he doesn't believe this is a first amendment case but does think there is merit to it but also thinks there is great risk to it because you are regulating what people think. so he said he actually came out and said i think, unlike the document case, it's going to have issues of proof. it's more complicated. i think there are some down sides to it. i think there are reasons not to bring it. i said that before i'm a little concerned about the slippery slope of what you are criminal riding. and merrick garland comes out and says hey i just hired jack smith i have no idea what is going on. does anyone believe that for a second as joe biden sits on the beach and says i'm just detaching. i'm unplugging for 10 days. does anyone believe that? as we go up and down. very important timeline as the timeline happens we also have an election happening from the caucuses to the primaries to the super tuesdays. donald trump is going to be salted away in some courtroom in theory and guess who else doesn't do much? joe biden. this is going to be joe biden's best chance to do what he did last time. stay in his basement. because it's going to be no pressure if donald trump is the nominee to go out and campaign. because donald trump will be having necessarily those 25,000 people rallies across the country in purple states. he will be maybe stuck in a courtroom key baiting his case and maybe that will be the conversation of the country and maybe that's the joe biden strategy. he does best when he is not around. >> steve: a little bit about what bill barr said in that interview griff played a good chunk of it. he said, brian, to your point, this is not about the first amendment. he said that donald trump can say whatever he wants. he can lie. he can tell people the election was stolen. but that does not protect you from entering into a conspiracy. and the former attorney general said free speech does not give you the right for fraudulent conspiracy. and it's all about the conspiracy. one other. >> brian: you mean the electors thing? >> steve: the total, four different charges. >> ainsley: yeah. it's really about the double standard here. and that's what makes conservatives mad. it is when you look at donald trump getting slapped with 78 felony charges. 640 years if convicted behind bars. okay. the sitting president, in his garage, had classified documents, too. >> brian: we have no idea how that is going. >> ainsley: exactly. we haven't heard from that special counsel at all. that's what america is mad at. that's why republican are supporting donald trump. i know that it's all up in the air right now it. looks like donald trump is probably going to get the nomination it. looks like joe biden is going to run could be up in the air. people who used to say i don't know if i want trump to do this again. i don't know if i support him. they are fed up with the way the government is doing. with the doj. >> it looks like a two it-tiered justice system and people are mad. >> steve: 4re9's see what the doj does and what mr. hur out there does when he investigates the biden case. >> ainsley: what about the direction of our country. next topic is libraries and books in our kid's classroom they are worried about the state of the country. >> steve: let's go to that. coming up this weekend it turns out our friend kirk cameron is hosting. i will tell you in the next hour about what bill barr said. >> ainsley: i'm sorry i cut you off. >> steve: that's okay. he is having a see you at the library event this saturday. 260 public libraries in 44 states. people are going to gather, actually at the libraries to read brave books. you know our friends at brave books are actually sponsoring this also to pray and sing and read books of virtues. they said we are on a mission to turn our nation back to god. see you at the library on august the 5th. >> ainsley: i love. this because, kirk cameron said why are you all not wanting my books in your libraries. all my books are are focused on faith and family and freedom and patriotism. that's the message most of us want to teach our children. especially our little ones. we want them to be proud of our country and to know about god and to know that things are going to be okay and that they're loved. we want them to have happy child hoods. >> brian: talk about marketing. what is so interesting is that governor desantis in florida comes to mind where he says, listen, i think there should be age-appropriate books in age-appropriate libraries. i don't think certain books should be there. quickly democrats go "he's banning books." kurt cammeron says i think you should have well rounded books that talk about virtues and beliefs in libraries. no, no. kirk cameron can't have those books in there it's inappropriate. nobody says libraries are banning books. it's the democrats who are much more effective doing things that are catchy. and are easy to understand. when you think ron desantis if you are a democrat go banning books. no, no. age-appropriate books. shouldn't be learning about gender identification. should not be learning about sex if you are 8 years old. we thought that was a given. we think that faith and family books, no matter what faith you are muslim, catholic, christian, whatever you are should have an opportunity. that never used to be a problem. all the things we used to take for granted, people are making us sit around and go what happened to logic in this country? jordan peterson was on with us yesterday. and he talked about all of this. there is counter cultural conservative movement that's very, very powerful. and i also think that the young men who are tilting in that direction are at the forefront. i think what is happening in the states is that the answer to the problem of sex education in schools is we'll just take our kids out of the damn schools. i think the whole system will collapse. >> i also think if the republican governors have a lick of sense, especially with regard to long-term planning that they would take teacher certification away from the faculties of education. the faculties of education are sort of rotten central in the university system and a complete hammer lock on teacher certification a grip on the whole education system. >> steve: that's one of the reasons dr. peterson and his daughter are starting online university. it doesn't really tilt either direction politically. and encourage people to go to their website, which is going to be up in a couple of days speaking of web sites if you like to know more about see you at the library this saturday go to brave books.com and you can see right up at the top there is a little place you click. >> ainsley: , you search the map and see where they are going to be out near you, brian, they will be in dicks hill. scars dale. i was surprised they would be in new york. >> steve: in brooklyn. >> brian: not on long island. >> ainsley: go to the map use your fingers and. >> steve: what about if you have big fingers? how are you so smart? what did your parents do? >> brian: what i love about it he blends the lines of party and makes you think. listen i'm not a conservative or a liberal. i just take an issue. what's the best way through this? i know you are a republican. >> i think it's still too soon. i think it's way too soon. we have six months before the actual presidential primary here. we have a solid field of diverse candidates, which is great. again, i think a lot of voters are just checked out when it comes to the legal matters of the president. i think we're too busy worried about putting food on the table. worried about inflation. worried about the economy. worried about issues of faith and where our country is headed and the direction we are headed right now. i this think that's what is important to voters. not which indictment are we on today. >> steve: you need a road map to figure out which indictment we are on because there are so many of them, moses, you make a good point. bernadette, i know you are sitting there in georgia this morning. fayetteville, beautiful town. you are an independent. >> yes. >> steve: are you excited about the potential rematch between joe biden and donald trump? because we saw this movie once before. >> no. i'm not. i don't think the sea quell is necessary in this particular case. i think we're ready for something fresh. i think we are ready for people who are not going to continue to divide the country. i think we are ready for balance. we are ready for unity. i think we are ready for people to claim to be cryptions to actually show the love of christ. i just think we are yesterday for something new and something real. we don't want to see that movie anymore. >> steve: bern death, real bern, who would your dream ticket be. >> my dream ticket would be something we don't know who hasn't been involved in a wunk of chaos. somebody who does what they say they're going to do. >> steve: how do we find someone who is not involved in chaos. that's the problem. lydia, moses, bernadette, thank you for joining us today. thank you. >> thank you. >> thank you. >> thank you for having us. >> steve: 1 minutes better top of the hour, what if we told you and a guest of your choice could actually attend the highly anticipated first republican presidential debate in milwaukee on august 23rd?
