by plane to members of the cabinet in kyiv. the stalwart support for ukraine ensuring president biden will nominate current u.s. ambassador to slovakia as ambassador to ukraine. >> when it comes to russia, it is failing. ukraine is succeeding. russia has sought to totally subjugate ukraine to take away its sovereignty, to take away its independence. that has failed. >> a short while ago ukrainian president zelenskyy posted to social media at the u.s. delegation of high officials to kyiv is very valuable and important and grateful to the united states of america for unprecedented l. american diplomats will return to ukraine in a couple of days at the u.s. embassy and expected to reopen in kyiv in the coming weeks, back to you. >> carley: alive and lviv, thank you, matt. >> joey: well, this is a war that keeps dragging on. it is one of those things where the casualties may not be what they were a couple of weeks ago but calming train stations now so the idea that they keep russia two attacks that remind you what they are capable of. in a time bombing the west or train station, they are trying to send a message. mariupol under siege. >> carley: i was reading the missile strike killed eight people including a 3-month-old baby, which means obviously they are still very much interested in controlling the southern part of the country. when it comes to this high level meeting between president zelenskyy and secretary of state antony blinken and defense secretary lloyd austin we learned about this meeting when zelenskyy announced saturday it was supposed to be a secret meeting because of security concerns. as a matter-of-fact jennifer griffin in poland, she was told by the white house not to even tell her family where she was going because they said if there was any sort of leak they may have to call the meeting off. it happened, secretary of state antony blinken what it was like to see them in the meeting which has been released. they took a train to kyiv and went to the presidential palace and meeting but it was only supposed to be 90 minutes. during that time they discussed a number of important issues. the top headlines the u.s. embassy will be reopen in kyiv. officials will be sent to lviv and the next couple of weeks we will roll it out slowly, the embassy in kyiv will reopen. president biden with a new ambassador to ukraine. unbelievable throughout the course of this war, the united states didn't have a consistent investor to ukraine. so, that nomination will be announced today. bridget bring the current investor to slovakia appointed by trump and more military aid to ukraine. so far the u.s. has provided $3.6 billion in aid to ukraine so far. >> joey: probably more to come. we have $800 million of stuff making its way this week and by the end of this week, we will be able to say ukraine, they may be in the war and going through difficult times but really starting to come around them. >> carley: joe, one of the one thing is, jennifer griffin was asking questions to antony blinken and auston and she had incredible questions that she asked and raises a big concern. there has been an increasing number of photos of u.s. weapons in the hands of russian separatist in the donbas region. so the weapons are getting in the hands of russian. i don't think that that could happen but it was explained away by antony blinken as a reality of war. is that true? >> joey: that is a big concern that the problem we have had or seen is john kirby press secretary the other day was asked of him are we giving them weapons the way we are. and his response, we have to give them what they need depending on what's happening. that may be a legitimate answer but what that tells you it was not and execute a plan from the beginning. the reason why a certain type of weapon now, defending something they may not have needed to defend with artillery before. in an amount support of this do we have a situation where we can then defensive weapons and make sure ukrainians get them a question mark >> carley: that is such a good point. switching from ukraine to china getting weapons into taiwan right now before any possible conflict arises there using lessons from ukraine to make sure history doesn't repeat itself in china. >> carley: the biggest lesson of ukrainian were what should we have done six, nine months ago and that may be our outlook. >> carley: its get to this president biden to meet with congressional hispanic caucus today as members of his own party accused him of catering to activists and ignoring his own border patrol. >> carley: this is republicans charge homeland security of endangering u.s. citizens with handling of the border. alexandra hall from washington with more, alexandria. >> carley: there are 47 democratic members of congress pushing to have title 42 extended. but the biden administration standing by their plan to end of the month from now. under the trump era, the u.s. has been able to quickly expel migrants. the "fox news sunday" democratic texas congressman henry cuellar asked this... speak with the immigration activists but my question is who with that of men and women in green and blue but more importantly who is listening to the border community? >> carley: title 42 in additional crossings is expected appear congressman michael mccaul spoke to that in current state of homeland security alejandro mayorkas, listen. >> i don't want to devote too much of that, but he is very frustrated. we've had 2.5 million people cross into this border illegally since the president has been inaugurated. title 42, it means 500,000 over the next five weeks. >> joey: house republicans are questioning senator may work us up to the task. a letter obtained by fox digital reads "your actions have endangered american's endangered american sensors and underlined the sovereignty appeared your field to secure the border and enforce the law passed by congress raised great questions about suitability for office. meanwhile texas authority said released the name of the national guard soldier who remains missing after entering the rio grande river in hopes of rescuing two struggling migrants. 22-year-old specialist bishop evans went missing friday and he was trying to say they survive but the authorities believe they are smuggling drugs, joey and carley. >> carley: alexandria hoff live for us but let's bring in leslie heinrich congressional candidate, wesley hunt, you heard henry cuellar said title 42 listed but also, keeps on rac members of congress are pushing to have title 42 extended. does the biden administration clip on this issue? >> obviously they are not and they've chosen to die on the hill. but i want to make one comment. i want to thank him for his service. i want to thank for what he has time for our country and for humanity. you know what, he has absolutely no business dying and this administration the right thing by the american people and by this country. we just had since march 221000 illegal immigrants that were cut at the border, literally just this past month. this is a 331% increase with one year ago. this is the most we have seen actually caught in this country and the integrity of this administration. when you think about these numbers, it is actually devastating, and the taxpaying americans, absolutely it must stop. when i think about the people at the border that would fix this issue, fix this problem, you know what, we owe them that too. and congress right now to make sure we can secure the border. we absolutely must build the wall make sure that we have everyone that wants to get in this country illegally do with the right way. >> joey: wesley, look at the border. biden versus trump 2.3 million encounters under trump, 7 million encounters under biden. you can see the disparity with the presidential term and the first 18 months of this one. you are running to be a member of congress. it is been my position this isn't for the administration. we talk about title 42 which is a band aid fix for an eternal problem in my opinion. what can congress do? i don't want. speech. what can congress really do 51-49% divide. what can congress get done that this president will sign in 2025? >> carley: i tell you one thing we will see in november and absolute red wave. what we actually get done is we keep our bond with the american people and tell them look our number one responsibility is to keep the people in our country safe. that is what we are going to do. you know what part of that is to secure the border and making sure i can, like i said earlier build a wall make sure that you know what, if you are paying taxes in this country, you know what, we will keep you safe. make sure we keep crime at bay. make sure that we continue to understand exactly what is going on on multiple levels. and we are talking about our border, looking at taxes, looking at what is happening in ukraine. looking at what is happening with the supply chain. it has been an absolute disaster for the past 14 months. you know what it starts on our border and i want to make sure that we secure it immediately. >> joey: wesley, real quick to follow up with that i know it is early in the morning and i don't want to put you in the hot seat to answer this question. you talk about building the wall to secure the border and popular month of republicans. can that come with dhaka or something the democrats are looking for to actually make a deal similar to nancy pelosi/donald trump had and couldn't get it across the finish line? >> how can we get to dhaka if we can't secure our border? look, we can't put the cart before the horse brother. we have to at the end of the day secure our border. we have to secure the border first and address all these other issues that we have later. but again this is a constitutional issue that we have to address immediately. >> carley: secretary antony blinken and lloyd austin reporting this morning with presidential belinsky in kyiv. this ties into the border issue as well because ukrainian refugees that are trying to enter the united states through mexico before they are blocked from entering. and hundreds of ukrainian refugees gathering in ukraine now. there was a sunday deadline in the united states before the administration closes the border and forces them to apply for asylum online from -- so some people are making the argument the administration is making it harder for ukrainian refugees to get into this country and people coming from mexico or south america. is that the criticism? >> probably. but again we have been following from behind from the very beginning. look i'm a west point graduate and so was my sister and so was my brother. and boris johnson over in kyiv two weeks ago. here we are having this conversation. not only that, at our border as well but look we don't know who's coming in the border. think about that. we don't know if they are terrorists. we don't know if people from central america areas. we are sitting here having this conversation. at the end of the day, we have got to secure our border and we need to know who is coming in and out of the country. it is that simple. >> joey: wesley real quick one more question for you, what should the u.s. be doing for ukraine and are they doing enough? >> look, i think vladimir putin has bitten off way more than he can chew at the end of the day. and i think we need to make sure we secure this country. we need to give them whatever they asked for. again, president zelenskyy s for s4 bullets. he asked for ammunition. he asked for more help from us. as a country that believes in freedom and as a country that believes in freedom, we have to make sure we give him whatever he needs. again, you and i, maybe we should have boots on the ground. but at the end of the day we have supply this country with as much that they have the freedom that we enjoy every single
