neighborhood. >> nicole? >> the left attack on republicans ramp up, from florida governor desantis being called out as missing while he was at cancer treatment with his wife. to the media launching a hit job on texas senator cruz's 13-year-old daughter. >> tyrus? >> drama on the gridiron. there's a tantrum mid field and then getting booted from the bus. but first, dr. fauci now saying that americans could be forced to test negative before exiting the newly shortened five-day covid quarantine. but the cdc director said something completely different. just days ago when she was asked about requiring testing. >> yeah, really important question. i'm glad you raised this. so what we do know is that the pcr test after infection can be positive for up to 12 weeks. so that is not going to be helpful. >> i myself feel that that's a reasonable thing to do. i believe that the cdc soon will be coming out with more clarification of that. >> and this week the fda is expected to allow 12 to 15-year-olds to get pfizer's booster shot. this is a move that dr. mccary calls a slap in the face to science for the fda to circumvent the standard convening of the expert advisory. i want to start there and go straight to you, doctor. you have some thoughts about that. >> that's right. the fact the fda is now looking to recommend that boosters be available in this younger population without convening their expert external review panel really is just a stain on the checks and balances of the normal scientific process. i mean, it is no wonder, at this point that they can't name an fda director because no self-respecting scientist at this point wants to be a part of what's happening, and that's really becoming malfeasance. this week we have new studies showing higher levels of mild peri car ditis inflation in the heart in young males. higher than they would get if they got covid-19. following the second dose of the vaccine and likely following the booster as well. they continue to cite cdc information which is outdated, antiquated and selective that is underestimating the rate of this side effect. at this point, i can tell you the reason they are not convening this expert review panel is because they have already voted against it, and the truth is, they don't want to hear it because it doesn't fit mainstream media line, and they don't agree with it, so therefore, they are trying to silence them by not having it. it is negligent. it is going to cause harm, and unfortunately, that's where we are. we are losing integrity in the scientific process. >> and this is the problem, right? the whole system seems to be deteriorating. there is a lot of confusion. sean, i want to go to you and see what you think about dr. fauci flip-flopping here. cdc director saying one thing. he's saying another. americans can't keep track of it all. they don't know what to believe. >> the problem with that is it seems they are going on a gut feeling. one is saying you need to get tested after five days. that was fauci. walensky is like well listen, you are probably going to still test positive four weeks after you get the virus. there's no need to test because it is not going to work. again, i think we should be basing these recommendations on science, and when you can have two different recommendations from two different scientists in government, i think that's why so many people have lost faith in public health and don't trust these guys anymore. again, i've served in congress for nine years. i think it is important that the citizenry believe in public health. and when they lose trust, though, all things go to the whim, but you earn the trust. you don't automatically get it. again, they are losing it day after day by these kinds of inconsistencies. >> there's also this problem -- >> jackie? >> go ahead. >> i want to say one thing to sean's point is the fact that the cdc continues to come out with these black and white recommendations, but americans are not black and white. it is not one size fits all here. with these updated recommendations, they need to say hey, for the general population, if you're asymptomatic, yes, then you can go out. if you are not sick anymore, you should be able to go out. but for those who are high risk, those that work at healthcare settings, maybe they should be a little by differently. they don't do that. they make things so rigid. that's why there's pushback. this back and forth is having everyone lose trust in public health >> that's definitely a huge point to make. there's also this issue in new york where it's now prioritizing race when giving the mono clonal antibodies and oral anti-virals. so many people are saying why isn't there supply out there. consider race ethnicity when assessing individual risk longstanding and health ib inequities may contribute to getting sick and dying from covid-19. tyrus, i want to kick this one thing to you. >> when i hear about bunching grouping when you talk about race, when it comes to medical concerns, it is about the individual, about what's best for you and your family. honestly when they turn into politicalization, that's when you need to stop listening. dr. fauci was one of the best in his field for decades. and he never was on tv. he did the job. he did the science. worse thing happened to him, he got in front of the camera, and he became a star, and he started picking sides politically. he's kind of played himself out in terms of being the scientist with the answers in the room. my advice is the same advice that i do myself, i talk to my doctors in my community. one of the things -- the questions i always ask was about how effective are masks? masks basically like there's a burglar outside of your house, and if you lock the door, he can't get in, but eventually you open the door, the burglar gets in. that's kind of how it works with covid. the masks aren't stopping the spread. they're preventing it for a short time. instead of giving us valuable information that we know, like, listen, there's a good chance at some point we're all going to come into contact with covid, and things like your diet, exercise, changing your sleeping habits, things that you can actually control that can help build up your immune system, stay on top of your vitamins, having regular check ups, that's information that american people can use and can help us, but telling us every week there's a different thing, and you can't get the same answer, the cdc is no longer the cdc. it is whoever wants this best sound bite to be on cnn or another news network that night. it is embarrassing. i'm not a rocket surgeon. i'm a guy who reads a lot of backs and asks questions -- reads a lot of books and asks questions, when i have a question, i don't look to the cdc, i call my local doctor and say i have a question about this, and i will get the straight answer. that's what i would encourage most americans to do, all americans to do is to start using your community resources to get information about what's best for you and your family. the fact that i'm black is literally irrelevant. >> tyrus, you look at the race [inaudible], it doesn't seem like that's a driving component of contracting or dying or being hospitalized from covid. is it are you overweight? are you old? comored bytys -- comorbidities? those are the risk factors. democrats have a history of racism, back to slavery and segregation. they are doing the same thing here trying to divide america based on race. i think what they are doing here is trying to break america, divide us, break us, so they can rebuild it in their socialist communist ideology. >> unfortunately, you know, covid -- >> i do have to say -- >> -- get into the race game. so, you know, covid is an equal opportunity -- [inaudible]. >> that's not entirely true, though. i do want to point out that you have high hospitalizations and -- higher hospitalizations and deaths in black americans, native americans, hispanic americans, and that's because of many issues, a lot of lifestyle risk factors, but also the fact they tend not to get medical care. >> i agree with you because i used to be the same way. not to cut you off, doctor, but what you are saying is true, and it is responsibility and accountability. that's what the cdc is afraid to say, what you just said. it is not the color of your skin. it is your diet habit. blood types also play a factor. if you have a positive -- negative o, rare type, you get less infections and things like that, but for a doctor to say listen, it is your diet, some of the cultural things that you do is not good for your body, and to say that, you are racist, and you can't be a doctor anymore. instead of -- and that's what people need to hear. people need to hear hard truths. >> i think you guys are both making -- >> physicians are very hesitant saying things because of the negative -- [talking over each other] >> i want to know why we don't have the tests or enough monoclonal antibodies and why we aren't fast tracking the treatments to make sure whoever needs them to get them, and why we need to segment the population here. we are seeing spikes that was highly anticipated. we knew this virus was going to mutate. yet this administration came in with all the tools, all the tools were handed to it, and yet, we dont -- we don't have enough. >> i want to call up the white house and why they decide not to reinvest in testing. it was handed to them when they took office. they decided not to double down on testing which is why we have a testing shortage for the delta wave in the summer and clearly seeing it now. same goes with the oral outpatient medications now. while we are starting to get them in new york city and other places, they are very hard to come by. and the monoclonal antibody situation, one of the proven treatments that were keeping people out of the hospital, because the cdc miscalculated the prevalence of omicron across our nation, the federal government decided to pull back all the antibody treatments, and we couldn't get them anymore for our high risk patients, and then all of a sudden, they are like oh, wait, we were wrong, we overestimated omicron, we still have a lot more delta, but no one could get antibody treatments. they are completely fumbling this entire situation right now, and it is unfortunate. by the time they get their act together, the omicron wave will be over. >> that's the part that's unfortunate. people are suffering right now. they are scared. they don't know what to do. yet, this is where we are. but it does happen to be a new year. and we're also seeing a new crime spike, but one liberal-run city has a plan. the question is, will it work? what does it mean for where you live? we will discuss it next. when you have xfinity xfi, you have peace of mind built in at no extra cost. advanced security helps keep your family protected online. pause wifi whenever for ultimate control with the xfinity app. and family-safe browsing gives parents one less thing to worry about. security, control and peace of mind. with xfinity xfi, it's all built in at no extra cost. >> welcome back to the big sunday show. it is only january 2nd and democrat run cities are seeing crime, from chicago to milwaukee to indianapolis, homicides are taking place across the country. in new york, a police officer is hospitalized after being shot in the head, as he slept in his car between shifts. newly sworn in mayor adams promising this morning to crack down on crime. >> the balance is not just heavy-handed policing. it is public safety and justice. what we do long-term and what we do right now. we are going to go after gangs. we're going to reinstitute a plain clothes antigun unit and zero in on the guns. my city is going to be safe. >> you know, it's unbelievable. we are living at the start of 2022 like we lived all of 2021. we're talking about crime again. it spread across the country. to you, dr. nicole, i wonder if this is about liberal policies, defund the police, and weak prosecutors, so there something else happening in america? is there something about faith and morals and god that we have taken out of culture that are impacting people's bad decisions to hurt others? >> sean, is there an all of the above answer to your question? you know, breaking it down from the beginning, you know, public safety is a fundamental responsibility of government. what have we seen throughout the last couple of years is that through the democratic cities, they have taken away funding of our police force, our first responders, and others who do everything they can to keep our cities safe. elections have consequences. the result is you are seeing a rise in crime and a decrease in people who are there to fight it. i really wish that newly incoming mayor adams would not be on tv. we have learned our lesson with fauci. maybe you don't go on tv as much, and you actually work. you stay in your office and do something and don't just say you are going to do it. it's not just about targeting guns. it's about making sure the police force has the funding they need. it's for keeping people off the streets, making sure that the homeless have somewhere to go. but also it's about accountability and making sure that people are tough on crime. you have to -- you can't just incentivize people to go out and do crime because you know that they are not going to be as in trouble. you need to make sure that they know with actions, there will be consequences. >> that's 100% right. i would say on his first day in office, he actually called the police [inaudible] that was taking place. that's a good start. i live in wisconsin. in wisconsin we don't care about new york. what happens there is a different story. but i think we have to all be concerned that these bad policies spread across the country. jackie, do you think the mayor has the chops to stand up to liberals as he tries to put into place more stringent policies to fight crime? >> i will start out by saying i hope he does. i live here. i have been a victim of crime here. it really hasn't been pleasant over the last couple of years. i also say this, with de blasio the bar was extremely low. hopes are high for eric adams, but also remember, he is a democrat, and so he says he's going to be tough on crime. we will have to see if he actually follows through with it. another thing he's promised is to bring new york city's economy back to life. still suffering right now in this latest spike in covid certainly isn't helping anything. how do you do that? how do you get people back into the city? people coming back to their offices? touris you have to clean up the streets. homelessness, mental illness. cleaning up penn and grand central station. making this a safe place for people can come back to to do their work and feel comfortable as they are walking the streets. no one wants to live here because they don't feel safe. if you don't feel safe, you are not going to make an investment to stay here for a long time. i have seen so many people leave during the pandemic, the high taxes, the crime, the covid policies, and now we have mandates in place. i was expecting when he took over that he might do something to help with the mandate situation. he didn't. he's keeping de blasio's policy in place. we will see. is that a short-term thing for the next few weeks while the spike is still in play, or is he going to change the tune? if he keeps certain factors the way they are, the city is not going to get up and running. the longer it goes like this, the harder it is going to be to get back on track. >> 100%. i want to play a longer part of the clip we played in the entrance to this segment. it is andy cohen, a liberal, he's ripping new york city mayor de blasio for his policies as de blasio is on his way out. i think cohen may have had a few drinks on new year's eve. check this out. >> watching mayor de blasio do his victory lap dance after four years of [inaudible] has the mayor of new york. the only thing that democrats and republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been, so sayonara. >> even liberals don't like the implementation of liberal policies because it is rotten. what do you say? >> i can care less what he has to say from his approach many many hundreds of feet above anyone else. it sounds good. but what is he practicing what he's preaching. unfortunately he's not. we have to be honest as the doctor was talking earlier. listen, we run the dinner bell. the fantasy woke liberal thing where every criminal is a struggling artist, you not only through mainstream media and your policies, you have cut the legs out from under our police department. you have made it fashionable to go after them. you praise groups to protest them. so we have lost our police department. even in best case scenario, if you dumped 20 billion dollars into the police forces across this country, it takes 18 months to get a new officer trained and ready to be on the streets, best case scenario. what that means is, for the next good year, probably going into 2023, we are going to see this. you have not only emboldened criminals. you have impassioned them. you have made it a money-making business in this country. gangs no longer meet in secret. they gather on facebook and then 80 of them show up. it is not just gang members. it is people who don't want to work because there's no consequences. the only way you are going to fix this in my humble opinion is you have to look at anything from the national guard on our streets. we would send military in other countries to make our streets safe for americans. need to bring back neighborhood watches. i mean, i'm not talking about formingmilitias, but in some cases that's what's being done. none of them are getting training. they are trying to get a quick fix of the monster they have created. this is something you can say i'm going to crack down on crime. sure you are. how are you going to do it? you have no police officers. the ones you have, their morale is beat to death. they are looking over their shoulders. it is a money making business to get someone to start fighting with a police officer because if you take video of it, he or she is fired. there's no quick fix. no interview. get off camera. start meeting with governors. i don't know who you talk to in the woke administration in the white house about this, but our streets and our citizens are in trouble, and there's no speech that's going to fix it. >> tyrus, but part of american voters' fault. they voted these people in and once they get it straight that these matter, they need strong d.a.s, strong leaders to fight this crime. it is going to take us multiple years to get our hands around it because it's gotten so bad. you guys great discussion. straight ahead, the left tries and fails to attack governor desantis as missing. then the media goes after senator cruz's 13-year-old daughter. the new attack on republicans. we're discussing that. >> are you ready to start a great career? mind you, he wasn't missing. he was still taking phone calls and doing meetings. he just wasn't on camera. >> here's the problem, this is the liberal media attacking a republican governor in a state where he's actually done a very good job managing covid. as you point out, it is not like they've done so much better in this great blue state that we live in. and they are attacking him for its. his economy has been up and running. his cases aren't worse than ours. aoc i believe it was down in florida maskless partying there. if it's not so great down there, aoc, why did you go?
