holiday season was my partner in crime on "fox and friends first," excited for what 2022 is going to bring but excited to kick off this final hour of our anchoring together in 2021. we begin with a very tough story happening in our nation's heartland. a fox news alert, a life-threatening fast-moving wildfire forcing tens of thousands of colorado residents to evacuate their homes. carley: fire crews, over 580 homes. the latest on the marshall fire, good morning. >> reporter: dangerous wind driven wildfires sparked my down power lines for thousands to evacuate homes and businesses but the colorado governors declare a state of emergency. apps unfolding the town of louisville, the entire town forced to flee, video on social media showing frantic parents running out of the chuck e cheese with their kids into his fire burns dangerously close. wind gusts 110 miles per hour, blanketing the town with the smoke, prompting the evacuation of the costco and local hospital. >> i believe we are looking down on, definitely a concerning seen, the hospital appearing to be on fire. >> reporter: security camera shows how fast it is moving, nothing but burning homes in all directions. many area residents were caught off guard. >> they are all up in flames, embers everywhere. it will continue to spread to other homes. it was so dark you can't see anything. it is like the black of night. >> i've lived here for 28 years and never seen anything like it. it is crazy, scary. >> i want to make sure i will be okay and my animals okay and hope my neighbors -- >> reporter: the governor promising to speed aid to those who have to drop everything and leave. >> fire personnel working as hard as they can to save additional structures as we speak and when safe to do so we start the emotional process assessing damages. >> reporter: close to 600 homes destroyed, 7 people injured so far including the first responder. officials say there could be more injuries and deaths possible. carley: a terrifying situation. trouble a foot for the vice president as she struggles to answer a question in the inflation crisis. todd: now even prominent democrats are starting to panic ahead of the midterms. lucas tomlinson is details from washington. good morning. >> reporter: many raised eyebrows in washington when the vice president was asked this question about inflation. >> was it wrong to consider inflation transitory? price spikes seem like they will be with us for a while. we need to address the fact that we got to deal with the fact that folks are paying for gas, groceries, solutions to it. >> harris went on from there. in the last hour peter morici blame trillions of government spending for the current inflation crisis. >> we were on a path, in terms of getting employment back in the growth back but the manufactured inflation, finance with printed money, his build back america program would just make things a lot worse. >> any time he or she goes to the store inflation has skyrocketed, it is now at a 39 year high, food prices up 6%, energy of 33%, gas up 58%, 16 cities across america stretching tucson to milwaukee to philadelphia experiencing record number of homicides. detroit's former police chief offered this explanation. >> we are seeing a spike in crime in major cities because we have progressive judges, progressive thes, when will be stop talking about police and told these progressive judges and vas where public servants accountable? >> the number of illegal migrants at the southern border is the highest in decades. hillary clinton issued the following morning toward fellow democrats. >> time for careful thinking about what wins elections. it means nothing if we don't have a congress that will get things done and a white house can count on to be sane and sober. >> the clock strikes midnight the countdown to the midterms begin, gop banking on inflation, crime and illegal immigration help this congress. happy new year. todd: best of health and happiness. that is what dems are hoping for, listen to hillary clinton, they don't feel they are happy going into 2022. how nervous must you be of your hillary clinton or one of these other senior democratic individuals when throwing members of your own party under the bus, the elections haven't even happened. the old guard them starting to see what a horrible mistake they made by allowing progressives, specifically four members of the squad to hijack their party. you this morning from hillary and why you're seeing so many congressmen and women retiring. this is a last ditch effort as the calendar changes to pivot the democrat party to the center, try to get some legislative wins as you heard hillary talking about but the damage may be done and it is three issues we always talk about, crime, inflation and mandates on covid the do not seem to be slowing the virus down. carley: hillary clinton is not for us to talk about this, james carville has come out strong on this front when he says you got to stop with the woke stuff because there are progressives -- progressives are outspoken part of the party and most americans completely disagree with that perspective and president biden should listen because he has aligned himself with more progressives than moderates and remember when people were harassing joe manchin and kirsten cinema and that is just politics for you, don't think that played well with the american people, draconian lockdowns, high crime, massive inflation and that is what president biden has created and the american people align all those negative things with democrats. the virginia election was seen as a barometer of things to come. in the beginning glenn youngcan look like he had no shot when it came to winning the governor's race and he ended up doing just that. interesting comments from hillary clinton that i'm sure we will be talking about through the course of today on this new year's eve. in the meantime record-breaking covid cases being recorded across the us while president biden vacations in delaware. the leaderships has some questioning the whereabouts of health and human services secretary xavier becerra who is not been seen at any white house covid briefings. >> this is turned into a game of where is waldo. no one seems able to find him on any of the issues. >> how the media treat donald trump if he and his administration were in this position? we will talk about that with lara trump coming up. neil: new york city mayor eric adam says the vaccine mandate will stay in place when he takes office. >> we want to maintain what was put in place for the business community and if there's a moment to change or alter that we are going to do so based on the science. >> this would focus on compliance, not punishment. any new variant could be met by increased restriction beyond the current vaccine mandate. carley: the race in the healing metal trial sent prince and legal team into emergency talks was the mirror reporting it is seizing on any opportunity to discredit his accuser and nancy grace says maxwell may finally name names to reduce her sentence. >> he has been playing her cards very wisely. she didn't need to implicate other people but this would be the time for her to start naming names. carley: experts warn socialites conviction will raise questions how much prince andrew knew about his two frenzy ghislaine maxwell and jeffrey epstein. in 2009 settlement agreement between jeffrey epstein and going to be made public on monday. the one that has the civil lawsuit against prince andrew accusing him of sexual abuse so this could be a big deal of the settlement includes other names, virginia is not allowed to talk about these people as well and these interactions she had with other high profile people something to watch come monday. carley: who will she flip on, does it make sense for her to flip? we heard some dividend viewpoint on this. you heard what nancy grace said that on the channel earlier yesterday you heard one of the victims lawyers or some other victim's lawyers say he doesn't think maxwell will flip just because that is not how things are done in this uppercrust society, she wants to maintain her reputation and that is not a world i am familiar with so don't know if that will be the case but also how much time could she have shaved off her ultimate sentence, she's facing 65 years and get it down to 30 and she will get out of prison when she is 90. i don't think you know but the world wants more answers. we have some answers but we want more answers and more justice for those individuals and we know this has spread its tentacles further but a question of how far. carley: i want to say quickly because this came out overnight prosecutors just ended the criminal case against the two manhattan prison guards tasked with guarding jeffrey epstein, that case is no longer going forward. a lot of stuff came down this week when it comes to this jeffrey epstein scandal. todd: the point you raise raises questions on its own, why was this dismissed like that. 12 minutes after the hour, did you hear about this? i can't believe this is true but turns out it is. the federal government wants to make money off crime, telling criminals to report income on illegal business and the value of stolen goods to the irs when they file their taxes. carley: seems like fake news but it is not. when sheriff said call us if you need help, we are talking to that sheriff elect coming up. ♪♪ they customize your car insurance, so you only pay for what you need. wooo, yeaa, woooooo and, by switching you could even save 665 dollars. hey tex, can someone else get a turn?
