country and that will help a lot biden also noting his predecessor has gotten his booster shot. now, president biden also revealed in his remarks yesterday guys he is now considering reversing that travel ban on southern african countries, brian, carley, steve? steve: all right, griff, thank you very much for the live report from washington, d.c. also in washington, after that covid cast that the president had. he was queried by the reporters in attendance. one of the things was, hey, mr. president, hate to remind you of this, but joe manchin sunk your battle ship with build back better. that is according to politico and "the washington post," apparently on sunday night, after manchin blew up build back better, they spoke on the phone, it was cordial, they said in the coming year we will work on something. in the meantime, carley and brian, the super liberals and progressives are just absolutely furious. and they are in no mood to scale back their ambitions and what they want. and they want a lot. carley: yeah, steve. you have are absolutely right. and i think that's why he said that we're going to try and get something done because the progressives are so mad. they were promised bbb in exchange for a vote on infrastructure. i don't see them for a smaller broken down bill, one of the proives aoc she didn't even vote in favor of the bipartisan infrastructure bill because she wanted to ram build back better through as it is. and speaking of -- there is so much pressure on president biden to get build back better done. there is also so much pressure on manchin and a lot of name calling. did you hear what congressman jamaal bowman said about him yesterday. he said it's tremendously frustrating for me as a black man in america once again it's an example of joe manchin as a white man showing he doesn't care about black people e doesn't care about latinos. he doesn't care about immigrants. he doesn't care about women. he doesn't care about the poor? really a no vote for a sweeping social spending bill that would increase inflation is now racist according to some people in his own caucus. brian: carley, that's a great point. the thing is, if you read the "wall street journal" today, they really break down and excuse me the "the washington post," as charles lane says why is anybody surprised joe manchin didn't vote for this. he represents west virginia. in west virginia, if you look at this bill. this bill was broken down for the big high tax states. remember, they are going to bring back the salt tax, help new york, california and new jersey. going to electrify the country. going to hurt the natural gas is booming over in west virginia. they also have 11% of the nation's coal. there is provisions in the bill for michigan tax break for purchases on electric cars. everything the things that's going to hurt west virginia was in this bill. why we not vote for it in a state for 40 points. makes you wonder why people were surprised why joe manchin different that james carville talked about yesterday could indeed be the case 1.8 trillion. which would not have the child tax credit. free preschool and other things and that's why i think that the republicans should not be celebrating the end zone right now. over all, steve, they did a poll about what biden has done. we're almost a year through his administration, and not many people are high fiving about that. carley: this is not good. steve: what's interesting is when the president was talking about covid he said look, i know you are exhausted and i know you are frustrated. essentially talking to the american people but also talking to the american voter because we are coming up on the midterm election year and he's got to make people understand hey, i'm doing everything i can regarding covid. people don't feel that way. the morning consult did a poll with politico and only 42 percent said joe biden, since taking office, has done less than expected. 11 percent said more than expected. i don't know who those people are. about 40 percent said yep. this is exactly what we expected and 9 percent said i don't know when you look at the telephone. democrats 2020. 10 percent of those responding said they got done a lot more, 41% less than -- the president's numbers. 32% as expected. and once again about 15%, i don't know. i have no opinion. apparently they live -- carley: i think that 11% that said that president biden accomplished more than they expected in the 10% on congress are really optimistic people. the only thing -- the only thing that really passed was the bipartisan infrastructure bill. but the reason this poll is so important is also because it just shows a general frustration. we have been talking about these polls all week about how low the president's poll numbers are. and it's because of all of these things that are in president biden's control to change in a way. when you talk about the border wall. when you talk about crime. when you talk about inflation and high gas prices. he can use the oval office and the power that he has to make those things better. but he can't because he is doing what a majority or at least the loud majority of his party is telling him to do. brian: i'm not sure if you took the bet or not. you were the winner yesterday as predicted. steve: i told you. i told you i said bet you dollar, absolutely. brian: it was a dollar? carley: it was a dollar. steve: it was a dollar. here's the thing. this white house, any time they can, you know, they are trying to reach across the aisle and so they will bring up opponents of theirs just to make -- and they telegraphed it. i knew that you would be owing me a dollar. brian: okay. i would say this, too. trump came back and surprised me when he talked to brook and he said hey, do you know what? i'm really pleased some healing. i'm glad he made that comment. i was surprised and i was surprised the president was magnanimous. and i was surprised the current president was magnanimous. buff he said you get credit for coming up with a vaccine. wow, i couldn't believe it. even though we all knew it so i owe you a dollar. i will give it to you little by little a quarter at a time. steve: okay. brian: meanwhile this straight ahead. philadelphia police making an arrest in a series of robberies including this one where a groom was held at gunpoint on his wedding night. can the city's district attorney seriously still deny that this is a crime crisis? steve: plus, a massive fire breaking out at the home of a the suspect also shooting a homeowner and himself before being arrested. two more officers were hurt in a crash while in the hospital. police say everyone is expected to survive and then in michigan a police officer and sheriff's deputy were shot while chasing a suspect. police returned fire killing the suspect. both the officer and deputy are expected to survive. and overnight, a virginia homeowner -- home owned by former governor chuck rob going up in flames. fire crews responding to the blaze at the house just outside of. two people are being treated for injuries at a local hospital. served as governor in the 80's and later used in the u.s. senate. and we have got some rare tuesday night football action. the rams beating the seahawks 20-10 at home. scoring two touchdowns in the win and the eagles taking down the washington football team 27-17. philadelphia stayed firmly in the playoff race. last night washington assistant coach jennifer keane became the first happened out in philadelphia. you know, and we have been talking about on this program, carley and brian, about the wave of violence and crime spree all across the country, particularly lousy in philadelphia right now. philadelphia was a couple of weeks ago, broke a record, shattered a 30 year record for annual murders surpassing new york and los angeles. and this video right here was taken a couple of days ago, a group of five people were robbed at gunpoint when they were leaving the nicest hotel in philadelphia. the four seasons in center city. the family was robbed. you can see people walking by, they obviously don't want to get involved or something like that. four teenagers got out of the car, can you see in one spot what the license plate is, they took their time, they took about a minute to do it. they did not seem that nervous. and perhaps that's because, carley and brian. it happens in philly all the time. carley: yeah, without a doubt. also, this group reportedly they reportedly also robbed a groom, held him at gunpoint outside his wedding, so these are allegedly repeat offenders he denied that there was even a crime spike in philadelphia. >> i think it's important that we don't let this mushy and bleed into the notion that there is some big spike in crime. there isn't. there is not a big spike in crime. that is not true. there is also not a big spike in violent crime. neither one of these things is true. basically, we don't have a crisis of lawlessness. we don't have a crisis of crime. we don't have a crisis of violence. carley: yeah. and he later kind of walked back those remarks and he should have. i have the numbers here. just homicides alone. and i asked the brain room to in milwaukee, since 2019, the murder rate has gone up 91%, minneapolis 104%. philadelphia the city we were just talking about, 56%. what has happened since 2019 and 2021, can the defund the police movement. when nancy pelosi raises her hand and says well, you know, it's shocking that crime is happening in philadelphia. i don't know why. could somebody tell me? i wish that somebody in that pressroom would have said pick me. i know why. clearly it was something that your party did. brian: the das are front and center, too. they are permissive, look the other way, empty your prisons, view on crime and punishment is certainly happening. know why i believe things are going to change? because they are hitting upscale neighborhoods, when gangs are hitting each other people seem to be perfectly comfortable walking away. they grab this groom. he is sitting outside his reception they get out of the can a dressed in black. grab your rolex watch, even his bride said how did he know he had a rolex. they are professionals and hitting the people with money, which seems logical but also risky the people with money get attention when they are rob dollars. so now we might be able to get some crack down a shame it has to happen just because rich people are getting robbed. andrew sullivan a deep thinker and writer wrote this meanwhile woke das say there is no crisis. i'm beginning to wonder if the woke left actually wants people to be robbed let's see if some sober people could actually move into power and not think politics think more right and wrong. and thinking about wrong and right, steve, enes kanter freedom to me has been right and saying things that many people have been thinking for a long time and this newest american seems to have the greatest courage when it comes to china. steve: yeah. you know, famously, you know that expression people vote with their feet where they might move to another state or something like that. he actually has been talking with his feet because he has put all sorts of messages about china and tibet and human rights violations on his shoes. he was actually sitting down with brian kilmeade last night on prime time and talked a little bit about the backlash he has faced through the league and elsewhere. here's what he said last night on this channel. >> once i started this whole campaign, obviously, not many people like it, especially from our league. they were just keeping pressure to take the shoes off. i was like this is my freedom of speech. obviously once they saw i'm standing strong against my first amendment. they give up. but i think it is important, like i said, to hold these associations, companies, and accountable. when they call social justice companies they only obviously do it in america. when it touches country like china where they are making billions of dollars, they remain silent and someone has to call them out. carley: he is such an amazing person. i love that interview that you did with him yesterday, brian. he is also an extremely patriotic person. changed his name from enes kanter to enes kanter freedom. is he originally from turkey sometimes the most patriotic people in this country originated elsewhere and felt what it was like in other countries. i was recently talking to somebody from ghana. he came here 10 years ago. we was such a wonderful person. epitome of the american dream. he made a great point in saying everybody wants to come to the united states. you don't see americans lining up and trying to go other places for economic opportunity but enes kanter freedom he is facing some pressure, apparently in the nba to try and silence him because china gives the nba so much money for their product. and it's there. and if he is attacking china, they are not going to air the celtics game. brian: they are not and currently not. predicated off the fact that we came out with sanctions against them. there is a movement led by marco rubio in the senate to say you have to prove to us, nike and others, that this apparel, these soccer balls and footballs were not made lie slave labor by museum uyghurs in concentration camps. china not only not worried about that. they were sanctioning the officials that put sanctions on them. yesterday not that i'm for the boycott of the olympics because it hurts the athletes but the nhl stood up, seemingly unrelated and said we are not going to beijing. too much of a risk. we are having a hard enough time keeping our season going. the nhl, the hockey out of the winter olympics which is significant. steve: meanwhile, speaking of athletes, aaron rodgers was on the pat mcafee show yesterday. he was wearing a cancel culture hoodie. carley: he is hilarious. steve: there you go right there. we got rid of the banner, cancel culture with the cancel culture line through it they canceled the cancel culture. that was a gift from bar stools dave portnoy. aaron rodgers said yesterday the one frustration i have through the all of this there hasn't been any conversation about health. talking about his covid situation. i don't understand why society and the nfl hasn't talked about legit covid options. one options for him though is to play this weekend, obviously. but he still has a broken pinky toe. as the packers take on the browns. brian: he is playing through it. real quick i think it's so important. aaron rodgers has been saying what we have across the country a covid test. is there such a thing as overtesting even when somebody doesn't have symptoms. there could be an issue there, especially with the economy getting people to work and what the risk/reward balance is there. brian: on that the nfl, i will reit create. i think this is where we are heading i talked to dr. siegel last night. they are not testing anybody vaccinated with >> well, i think it's unlikely, it is christmas, so anything is possible. but i suspect even santa is not that generous to us. maybe the only thing that could convince him to switch or register as an independent and caucus with the republicans, which is far more likely. is the left, the far left continues this relentless demonization of joe manchin. i was listening to your segment of aaron rodgers and i represent title town u.s.a. here. that illustration illustrates how authoritarian the modern left is right now and not open to free speech or dissent of any kind. i think that relentless pressure turns off a lot of people who may not be card carrying republicans are simply patriotic americans that want to speak their mind and don't feel like, you know, the science is settled on every single issue and we have genuflect to the patron saint anthony fauci every single day. maybe that convinces him. i think it's unlikely, i suspect mitch mcconnell has offered him every single committee chairmanship ethics cysts in the united states senate. brian: bill maher as liberal as it gets it sounds like he is doing tucker carlson's monologue sometimes. meanwhile, keep in mind no high fiving or dancing in the end zone yet. evidently manchin did propose universal pre-k and expansion of the affordable care act. hundreds of billions of green energy spending and totaling of 1.8 trillion. if they go back and accept it. all of the sudden it will look as though joe biden got his socialist agenda. but i want to pivot to something very familiar with and this is china and the sanctions on them. it seems like there is many people in congress bought and sold by the chinese government and it's just so apparent right and wrong we should not be supporting an authoritarian government cracking down on human rights at the same time has openly has concentration camps where they kill people and harvest their organs and they are muslims. >> there's really two things going on here in congress that i see. both of which are corrupt. one is you have senators and members of the house, particularly in the democratic party, responding to corporate pressure and wall street money. and we know, for example, for the last two years, companies like nike, like apple, like disney, lobbied against the uyghur force prevention act which also brings me to the second thing. the other person who most strongly lobbied against that bill was former secretary of state john kerry he didn't want to increase the cost of solar panels because is he advancing this crazy climate change agenda. brian: sickening. >> wing of climate change evangelist in the democratic party don't want to get tough on china because they naively believe we can come to some sort of grand bargain with the chinese communist party on climate change. i can assure you the chinese communist party does not care about climate change. they are tripling down on coal fired power plants right now. it's so naive it's destructive. undermining military deal tenth at a time that we know that xi jinping is preparing to take over taiwan. brian: don't stop talking about it china is experiencing something they don't want to talk about. slow down economy from big business. they are stifling free enterprise. they are stifling the little capitalistic principles that brought them to where they're today. that is our greatest hope hood. you open up the hood china is suffering. >> we have a window of opportunity. not only do we need to invest here smartly to bring back the production of things like simi conductors, advanced pharmaceutical ingredients and other key technologies to wean ourselves off our dependency on china. we have to stop sending american capital to china to finance our own destruction. that's salute insanity. in fact, brian, we need to start with american universities. i have a bill that would prohibit american universities from investing their endowments in china. remember, these are tax exempt entities that are propagandizing our kids against americans in many cases, there are things we need to do to get more prepared for a prolonged confrontation and stop financing our own destruction. brian: guess what? attention to the gun violence and when you look at crime, this past year, and we're still a couple of weeks left, about 10 days left. vs. 2019, murders are up 63%. as you can see shooting incidents are up close to 70%. do you see a connection between the mayor's rhetoric where she wanted them to essentially take $80 million out of the police department budget with what we are seeing on the streets of chicago today? >> yeah. steve, i'm on the roof to bring attention and awareness to violence but also to raise as much money as i can to build our community center to fight the violence. and i do believe that all the talk about defunding the police has added the to the morale. i do believe that it has impacted the police dramatically. if anything, we do -- we don't need to defund the police. we need to fund them more. especially our detectives where they are overwhelmed and overloaded with cases that they are having problems solving because there is not enough of them to do the work. we definitely need to make the investment in our police department. steve: the police department is absolutely overworked. those detectives working on all those cases, you know, they just don't have time to catch break. >> no, they don't. and that's the reason why it's important that we do everything we can to support our police department, especially here in chicago where the work is overwhelming, and not just chicago but a lot of these major cities that are experiencing violence at record proportions. we need to do everything we can to be supportive of them not at a point where we are not supportive. steve: one big story out of chicago the last jussie smollett found guilty of the five of the six counts against him where he staged that phony hate crime. now a probe has revealed the states attorney kim foxx, she broke all sorts of ethics -- all sorts of ethics violations, she mislead the public. what's going on with her? >> well, you know, public trust is important. when we put our trust in our politicians that we elected, we believe that they are going to do the right job, in this case the things that the probe is saying there has been some ethical violations if that's so then that's something that needs to be dealt with should we tolerate any of our elected officials being able to do anything unethical. let's see what happens if anything to her. pastor, started by his pred predecessor for getting vaccines out in record time. carley: that moment coming outside as president biden plan to defeat omicron people stuck in hours in line to get a covid test. brian: thought we solved that problem that was donald trump's problem because he was in denial about the covid-19 virus. peter doocy at the white house with more. peter? pete: president biden is doing something very rare for him. is he admitting that he's not the first president to deal with this pandemic. >> former president trump announced he had gotten his booster shot. maybe one of the few things he and i agree on. let me be clear, thanks to the prior administration and our scientific community, america is one of the first countries to get the vaccine. >> apparently donald trump was watching that and he tells foxnews.com i'm very appreciative of that, i was surprised to hear it i think it's a terrific thing and makes a lot of people happy. i think he did something good. you know, it has to be a process of healing in this country and that will help a lot. the biggest part of biden's announcement yesterday was a website where people are going to be able to register next month and request one of 500 million free at home tests. just weeks after that idea, was laughed off. >> are to send one to every america? >> maybe. >> then what happens if every american has one test? how much does that cost and then what happens after that? >> now jen psaki is admitting she was wrong. >> so i would say there is not a day that goes by that i don't leave this podium and wish i would have said something with greater context or more precision or additional information. >> president biden only has one meeting on his public special today. it is about the disrupted supply chain three days before christmas. back to you. steve: yeah, things are going to get better faster. hey, peter, before you go, so half a billion of these home tests how are people going to get them? and the other thing is, once you do one, are they going to send you another? >> jen psaki said they are going to announce the website in a couple of weeks, some time in january that people are going to be able to go on, you remember the last time that the federal government tried to launch a big website dealing with signing up for any kind of a healthcare information, healthcare.gov, they this a lot of problems. they obviously have a decade of website building experience now between then and now, but, we'll see how it goes. brian: right. a couple of things though, peter, just real quick. the president yesterday also made it clear that he has a villain, the unvaccinated. he was just as angry at the vaccinated. he said something that was odd. i know you are vaccinated people are very frustrated and angry at the unvaccinated. are you surprised he is still keeping with that division? peter: i don't know if they were surprised but definitely draw a line between people they think have done things right and peeping vaccinated in eligible and people they think are doing things wrong. they don't mention a ton. it is possible for everybody to get covid, it's just a difference in how sick you get. whether you have the vaccine or not. but, they want people who are not vaccinated to know that the president think was they are not living up to a patriotic duty is how he talked about it. carley: thank you so much for joining us. so much so that he even said that you know, we know that you don't like mandates but we're not trying to control your life with a vaccine mandate. we are trying to keep you alive, which is what every single. brian: thanks, dad. carley: power hungry government in history has said something like that. but during that speech on the omicron variant. he also was asked some questions about build back better. people asked him about where he stands with joe manchin and if build back better is dead on arrival or if there is a possibility for it to proceed in the long run? he said a lot of interesting things about what build back better would do for the country, even though he also admitted that he shouldn't be having of the question portion of the press conference happen anyway. >> but all the things in that bill are going to reduce prices and costs for middle class and working class people. it's going to reduce their costs-what's inflation? having the money you have because money has gone up bring down all those costs, the cost of work to child care to a child care tax credit. i'm not supposed to be having this press conference. okay. steve: so there-we have heard him say before i'm not supposed to take questions. we have also heard jen psaki say i would prefer him not to. and it's because the white house tries to stay on message. and when you are in the comms shop it's all about staying on message. the president goes off the prompter sometimes he goes off message. in fact, when he was talking about joe manchin yesterday and whether or not they would be able to find common ground, the white house communications department had to do klein up on aisle one once again yesterday and explain what the president actually meant. you would think you would -- if you are the president, you would know what you mean and say that but sometimes it doesn't work out. and joe concha says, look, this is just a sign of a lot of stuff that's gone haywire during year one of the biden presidency. >> that sums up year one of this presidency to a t. look, this is an administration and a president that time after time completely -- is completely caught off guard on things they should see from a mile away. you know, omicron, boy, we didn't know that was coming. inflation that we just talked about, it's supposed to be transitory on crime. oh, if we demonize cops and take away their tools, crime is requesting to go up while we lack bail laws completely where criminals don't feel like they are going to be prosecuted anymore? on the border, hey, we didn't see 2 million people crossing this border illegally on afghanistan. hey, the taliban took over? we didn't see that coming so quickly. they are caught off guard time and time again. carley: caught off guard time and time again. something interesting that president biden said at the end of his press conference right before he walked away he took one question where does build back better stand he says he has confidence that he and joe manchin can come to some sort of agreement. on sunday everybody thought this conversation was over. he was a no. now, i would really love to know what's going on with joe manchin. is he actually a maybe? is this conversation going to continue into the new year? or is he just paying the president some sort of lip service because he is feeling so much heat? brian: he offered that proposal that earlier in the week. he did not walk this back. he offered biden universal prekindergarten, precare -- preschool and expansion of the rah fordable care act. hundreds of billions of dollars in green energy spending, that's got to be scary to anyone in west virginia. all totaling $1.8 trillion. he wanted means testing when it came to this child tax credit and all these other things that were hooked into this. he said and everybody was judging. he said have less programs and actually be honest for funding them more than one year for 10 years and give me that cbo score. if joe biden goes back and says i'm going to take you up on that, the republicans have got to stop dancing in the end zone. they are going to have to absorb and eat $1.8 trillion. steve: well, and, brian and carley, when you ask the average american what they are concerned of, i don't think they are that concerned with getting build back better out of congress. they are worried about inbeflation, as peter mentioned, supply chain issues and crime. and when you look at crime, we were just doing a segment about 20 minutes ago with pastor brooks who is up on the roof in chicago trying to raise money for a facility to help combat gun violence, in every state it seems, particularly a lot of big northeastern corridor cities, crime is through the roof. then you have got chicago where there is a situation where a lot of people who got out on bond, sometimes zero bond, and they are felons are getting rearrested as well. latest felon was a fellow by the name of -- look at that 60 so far while awaiting trial for a previous felony. the latest felon was a fellow by the name of malik patreet, 22 years old. bond hearing arrested after shot 17-year-old girl. he tried to it kill at a marijuana sale. he was out on bail. he was wearing ankle monitor for a drug case. during the shootout with another man in march, he was wounded, a 7-year-old gerbil died she was shot by a bullet. charged with gun possession and released on $7,500 bond. and then in the next one, his next arrest you ever paid once, you don't have to pay again. it's unbelievable. carley: steve, did you great interview with pastor corey brooks living on the roof of his church because is he so frustrated about this crime surge. he is trying to raise awareness city. guess what, carley, you know intimately that the violence is, like in philadelphia, spreading to the high end areas of chicago and that's where all hell breaks lose. sadly, that's the only thing that get's people attention. when working class people shoot each other we look the other way. when upper class people do it, now it's an emergency. whatever it takes, crack down. steve: one of those things that people are very concerned about, crime. carley: without a doubt. brian mentioned to me because my husband lives in chicago. there was a mass shooting outside his building and he lives in a nice area. chicago is always a tale of two cities. it's the safer areas are now becoming less and less safe because, you know, it's defund the police and also the das who are just so soft on crime. this soft on crime social experiment has to end because people are dying. brian: yes. everywhere. across the country. it's not even right or left. it's right and wrong. carley: without diewnt. all administration alleging mistreatment by immigration authorities. the lawsuit says the white house deliberately withheld humanitarian aid hoping to deter thousands of them from entering the country. many of the migrants filing suit were sent back to haiti. they want to be granted asylum in the u.s. and money for expenses. passengers can cause scenes on plane could say lose their pre-check privileges. pre-check is a service offered that makes going through security a bit faster as part of a new agreement. the faa will give the tsa information on passengers who are fined or arrested for bad behavior. faa administration saying, quote, if you look out of lying, you will wait in line. airlines including delta are also banning passengers for life if they misbehave. a tourist in nyc third day of deliberations in the ghislaine maxwell trial. maxwell faces six charges for assisting her former boyfriend jeffrey epstein in the sexual abuse of teenage girls for more than a decade. fox nation host nancy grace joins us as we await a verdict. nancy, good morning to you. apparently the jury asked yesterday for transcripts of three of the accusers. what do you make of that? >> well, i think that's a positive sign. now, typically, the general view is that the longer deliberations go, the worse it is for the state. i don't necessarily agree with that and when people throw out they have been through two days of complications, woe, wait a minute, the first day they hear closing and jury instructions, they just get the case and it's time to go home. so they have really only had one full day deliberation. now, another thing, i believe that they are going methodically through the counts and methodically through the victims. the fact that they have asked for the victims' testimony means that they are reviewing what each victim said. that's not necessarily bad. but, they also asked to hear the fbi interview notes from 2007. i think that's a bad sign. because one of the victims in that interview did not mention ghislaine maxwell. so why is she mentioning her now? that is the conclusion they may make. however, you have got four victims. three that they asked to hear the testimony. i think it's going to be very difficult to pretend that all of these victims separated in time and space made up the same story. the defense is arguing that the victims misremembered. is that even a real word? i don't know. and that they had been persuaded by money to testify. >> right. well, let's see. they could come back with a verdict any day now. meanwhile, there is. >> wait, one more thing. i have got to tell you. steve: yes, ma'am. >> the judge told them that they may have to come back and deliberate up until christmas. i predict that's like a dynamite charge. they are going to come back with a verdict one way or the other. nobody wants to deliberate on christmas eve. know that. steve: right. okay. so that would mean tomorrow. we're going to see something tomorrow. for a minute or two. next thing you know she is missing. >> yeah. i'm very concerned about 3-year-old lena kiehl. they are afghan refugees. they haven't been here very long. after all what they have been through, they get to the u.s. and now the daughter goes missing. mom was out on the playground and i looked it up to make sure it was still daylight up until 5:40 p.m. that day in san antonio, population about 1.5 million. many people think it's a small community, it's not. this is an open playground, anybody could come into the apartment complex and see the playground. there were other children and other adults at the playground at the time. mommy goes in to get something, comes back, lina is gone. two working theories was she be a districted or did she wander off. they have been ronna mcdaniel. ronna, first off, the president had one villain wasn't china it's unvaccinated. is that popular with his party and the country what does the polling say. >> it's not popular. he is under water. his negatives are very, very high. let's look at why. he said one, you have to be max masked or vaxxed now that's changed. he said i'm not going to enforce vaccine mandates. that changed. he said he was going to shut down the virus and he went on tv and said we are going to have a winter of death and despair. this is a president who has not fulfilled any of his promises. he has muddled his messaging. have a testing crisis right now four country, first and foremost he made a promise to the american people. he shut down the virus. more people have died on his watch than they did in 2020 when we didn't have a vaccine. that's why joe biden is under water with the american people. brian: here he is promising to keep schools open. >> last year, we thought the only way to keep your children safe was to close your -- close our schools. today we know more and we have more resources to keep those schools open. covid-19 is scary but the science is clear, children are safe -- as safe in schools as they are any praise. assuming the appropriate precautions have been taken and they have already been funded. brian: so he wants to keep us in schools but he wants to keep the masks on the kids. one of the studies they cited was from the atlantic magazine which was exposed that said there was a faulty study from arizona where the schools were wrong, the study was wrong and because of this study, the centers for disease control said kids in masks is the only way to save them. kids in masks really divide on the parent level, don't they? >> it does. i mean, i have a son who is in school right now wearing a mask every day. he hates it, he takes it off after school and throws it in the parking lot. he shouldn't do that these kids don't want to do it. it makes it harder to learn. you can't see the teacher. it hurts interaction. i'm glad he is in school five day a week in person. there is nothing scientifically showing this is keeping the kids from getting covid. i think joe biden again is untrustworthy on the messaging. it is interesting he is saying keep the kids in school though. i think they learned from virginia and youngkin's divisive win they can pull the kids out of school. it hurts them politically. brian: desantis who is just beating him in florida by giving people a chance to live their own lives. that's what he is doing. if you want to wear a mask do it, if you don't, don't. people thinking there should be a change and will be a change. you have yuted raised the democrats again in november. 10.7 million to 9.1 million. what are people saying? who is giving that's significant? >> it's all small dollar primarily. we obviously have major groundswell and where they are right now? they see republicans are leading in 17 out of 20 states on bringing their economies back. they recognize republican governors are leading this recovery like you said. they kept their kids in school. and they followed the science and they kept their economies open. and the energy behind the republican party to take back the house and the that the as they are watching the disaster of the president biden is president with inflation, with supply chain issues with energy issues, with our gas prices, they know that it's time to reelect republicans and that's why the rnc is being supported. and republican candidates across the board. brian: real quick, retirements, two more democrats said they are retiring because they don't essentially want to be ranking members. how many republicans and democrats have said they are retiring? >> so we are at 23 on the democrat side. we are a little over 10 on the republican side. could be more on the democrat side. what you should be looking at is democrats in swing districts. stephanie murphy from florida the trial of kyle rittenhouse gripped the nation. carley: the media declaring the 18-year-old a murderer and white supremacist before he was acquitted of all charges. brian: our own pete hegseth sat down with kyle with more. hey, pete. pete: i just landed back from turning point u.s.a. america fest and celebration of freedom. the one person who got the biggest rock star reaction on stage was kyle rittenhouse who made a surprise appearance and ultimately innocent, acquitted in front of this group who appreciate his stand for self-defense. we got a moment to sit down with him. i think what struck me is a couple of things. he is an 18-year-old kid, like any other 18-year-old kid, but he has a heart and always has and loves the country and appreciates it found himself caught in this moment and we got a chance to ask him a couple of questions in addition to what tucker did his fantastic trial of kyle tucker carlson original. we asked a couple of follow-up questions on that. here is what keil had to say. pete: i can't think of anyone who has been through more of a whirlwind than you are an innocent man in a free america for now. you are innocent but do you feel vindicated. >> i feel like justice was served on the criminal side but there is going to be some accountability, coming, pete. pete: what's more powerful in your mind in america today? is it the legal system, those 12 jurors who held your fate or is it the media who had the power to characterize or mischaracterize who kyle rittenhouse was? >> i would have to say the media because they can have a big influence on the general public and that could have been one of my potential jurors and it could have gone completely different. thank goodness it didn't but it could have. pete: what was it like to watch the mischaracterization, watch the people call you a white supremacist, watch people call you a murderer and not have the ability to speak out for so long? waiting for your day in court? >> well, it was frustrating because i knew it was all lies. and i was like there is none of that. i'm not a white supremacist or a racist. what the media is saying. and there is nothing to show that and it is just disappointing. they are supposed to report the truth and the facts, yet, they are out -- pete: people pointing fingers and saying kyle rittenhouse is making money off of this, turning point is paying kyle rittenhouse. clear that up. >> i haven't been offered a dime, a penny. and i wouldn't accept a penny. because i'm out here taking back my character, telling the world who i am. and myself and the public opinion. pete: how has this changed your view on life just general? everything you have gone through. >> you never know what tomorrow is going to bring. pete: are you proud to be an american after what you went through? >> i would say yes. i like america. i like the constitution and we're blessed to have the freedoms we have. pete: your instincts want to help people to serve. where does that come from. >> i think it comes from my mom. she has been a cna and always helping people and co-workers and the people i have been around have always been the first people to help people and that's the type of person i wanted to be. i you wanted to be somebody to help somebody. pete: how is your mother doing. >> she is doing good. she is at home spends the holidays with my sisters. we're going to have a facetime christmas and they are just happy, happy that everything is okay. pete: how often do you get a chance to see your family. >> we facetime on a daily basis but to keep them safe, i'm off the grid a little bit so they can still their freedoms because they are not as easily recognizable as i am. to keep them safe. pete: i just want to say that what you went through, no american should have to go through. >> thank you, pete. pete: at all. guys, he is doing two things simultaneously and you can tell. is he trying to get his character back. fascism mustily the labor a scary looking santa and backs up the huge beard santa from a previous era. santa had huge beards. steve: i think that probably is still not a real beard, just saying. >> look at what picture. steve: donna sends this family favorite of her baby sister taking in texas back in 1949 during her first visit to santa and she didn't seem to enjoy it very much. remember back then you'd just take one picture and sometimes you wouldn't get it for a week or two as you processed it and you had no idea what it looked like until you actually opened up the package. just like that. meanwhile, it's not just, you know, a lot of families take pictures but at our family, i've been standing at the bottom of the stairs with my video camera, ever since the children were big enough to run down the stairs, and it's one of those things where i'd seen a father once upon a time, he took a picture of his daughter on her birthday every year for 30 years and then showed them to the world and so i've just put these pictures together of the kids, there's mary going very slow, and so often, i'll be out and about and people will say hey, i saw your kids grow up on tv, which is really nice, and peter, at the white house, you heard the same thing. reporter: here at the white house, so if they'd like to let us in, on saturday, we could have you down at the bottom of the stairs and we won't wake you , mr. president, or first lady. >> [laughter] steve: sounds great. reporter: yeah, but there is -- steve: so peter tell us about yesterday. reporter: yeah, the president is trying to get everybody vaccinated and he's trying to get everybody to get a booster shot and now he's trying something new saying don't just take my word for it. take donald trump's. >> just the other day former president trump announced he's gotten his booster shot. maybe one of the few things he and i agree on. let me be clear. thanks to the prior administration and our scientific community, america's one of the first countries to get the vaccine. reporter: now donald trump says i'm very appreciative of that. i was surprised to hear it. it was a terrific thing and it makes a lot of people happy. i think he did something very good, you know, it has to be a process of healing in this country and that will help a lot. biden's new plan for omicron is to increase support of hospital, speed up access to free tests and expand capacity to get shots in arms including fema pop-up clinics and deploying federal vaccinate or s and he is also still calling for vaccine requirements, even though those are tied up in the courts right now. >> vaccination requirements aren't popular, for many, and not even popular for those who are anxious to get them. my administration has put them in place not to control your life but to save your life and the lives of others, and it's going to save thousands of american lives. reporter: i asked then president-elect biden last december if he was going to make the vaccine mandatory and he said no, but as president, he's shown that he is going to keep trying to make it a requirement everywhere that he can. back to you. >> yeah, and it is going to be a requirement unless the supreme court doesn't step in and change it, change the vaccine mandate for businesses with 100 people are more working for them peter thank you so much, merry christmas, love seeing you as a little boy. brian: and it's pretty amazing too is that he talks about well one of the things i'm going to be doing is i'm going to flood the zone with some military in order to backfill hospitals that might be overwhelmed. might it be a good idea to let some of the nurses and doctors and hospital workers that you fired or have been fired in various cities because they weren't vaccinated because they had natural immunity in most of their cases and worked through the pandemic when we didn't even know how to stop it, where it was, or if the vaccine was on the horizon, would wouldn't it have helped to let them go back to work that be successful and i also thought it was rude when he said listen you get your kids vaccinated for a lot of things, get the shot. okay, fine, now you want to be our parent as adults and now you're trying to parent other people's parents? i think you have your hands full with what you have in your own backyard. the other thing to keep independent in mind too is the president of the united states has missed it again. he came out and said, according to the vice president, they didn't see delta coming and then oh, yeah, it was just taken out of context, and now he said i had no idea this was coming so how are we left? two years into this pandemic, we don't have enough tests for people. i think that's pretty bad and he's got to own that. steve: well and democratic strategists have suggested that the party needed to get away from the moniker of being a party of lockdowns to something else and that's why they started the new narrative yesterday and that is rather than lockdowns and mandates, get the shot and get the boosters. meanwhile, let's do something about crime in this country, mr. president, because when you look at the statistics of crime all across the country, it's through the roof, and nowhere in america have they had more murders than in philadelphia. they've actually had more murder s than in los angeles and in new york, and one of the reasons a lot of people have suggested is that the just re- elected larry krasner, the d a there, had very little consequence to crime but it was just a couple of weeks ago, this da, just re-elected to a new term this year, said despite those numbers, when you take out the guns, there's not so much crime. here is larry krasner in a flash back. >> i think it's important that we don't let this become mushy and bleed into the notion there's some kind of a big spike in crime. there isn't. there is not a big spike in crime, that is not true. there is also not a big spike in violent crime. neither one of these things is true. basically, we don't have a crisis of lawlessness. we don't have a crisis of crime, we don't have a crisis of violence. >> and of course that is absolutely the opposite of true, because as steve just mentioned, philadelphia has never had more murders in the history of the city of brotherly love and there is footage out there of a family getting robbed at gunpoint, leaving the four seasons hotel and the people allegedly responsible for this crime, they were also accused of robbing a guy, a groom, outside his wedding venue at gunpoint, stole his rolex as well so what's happening now, because of the defund the police movement and because of this soft on crime push by district attorneys and progressive lawmakers who say that there needs to be bail reform, there needs to be a complete overhaul of prison systems, and criminals essentially have more rights than the victims who are not only victims of the crime but then they are also victimized by the system of the criminals who committed it being let out without any remorse or any punishment whatsoever, what's happening is you're seeing a crime that affects that what were affecting bad areas get worse and then it's also creeping into safer areas as well. brian: right steve you mentioned the democrats absolutely are a party of un vaccinated people, need to be ignored and just spurned, and they are the party of lockdown and i don't think they will shake that because they are on the record doing that and if you look at the democrats they are the ones keeping your kids in masks and you have the desantis and the abbotts saying you parents make your own decisions and soon in one year we'll have a chance to make our own decision and whose got the right thing going and one is crime and permissiveness. are you pro-crime? well, are you pro-cop or anti- cop? very hard-pressed to see a democrat that is pro-cop. it's very hard to see a democrat that is out and about saying i'm outraged by the crime until now. look at these numbers. in chicago, 783 murders, 63% increase. you see the increase in shootings as well in chicago and we mentioned the record high in philadelphia, andrew sullivan wrote this. meanwhile, tweeted this out. meanwhile, woke da's say there's no crisis. i'm beginning to wonder if the woke left actually wants people to be robbed routinely as part of social justice. if it continues, you're never going to see an avalanche like you're going to see in one year my prediction, in november, because this is not a subtle thing like stem cell research. this is right and wrong. do you feel secure sending your kids to go see a christmas tree or into the city, whatever city , to go see a historic event or go to a museum? the answer is no. do you feel secure going outside your reception hall the day of your wedding? this groom walks out and loses his rolex, these are organized criminal institutions. these guys know exactly what they're doing. they're actually doing rehearsal s because they've had years to practice and now they're hitting the so-called high influencers, the upper class, and that sadly is what might be necessary for people to with this fox news alert. steve, overnight a police officer in philadelphia is shot while responding to a robbery. the suspect also shooting a homeowner and himself before being arrested. two more officers were hurt in a crash while en route to the hospital. police say everyone is expected to survive. and then in michigan a more and sheriff's deputy are shot while chasing a suspect. police returned fire killing the suspect. both the officer and deputy are expected to live. >> and the trucker sentenced to 110 years for a deadly colorado crash now has a celebrity in his corner fighting for clemency. reality tv star kim kardashian posting on instagram about the controversial sentencing after the brakes in the trucker 's semi failed. four people were killed in the resulting crash. she wants the colorado governor to commute his sentence. >> and today, president biden will be briefed on the current state of the supply chain crisis , with just three days to christmas, a task force and start having an intern count things. also in this survey, better songs to drive to, santa baby, only has 84 beats per minute, it's beginning to look a lot like christmas 95 beats per minute, and last steve: that be epic. speaking of china, and athletes we know that the white house has announced it's going to be a diplomatic boycott. the united states isn't going to send any diplomats to the olympics. big deal but it is a big deal that the nhl apparently decided you know what? we're not going to send players, just saying. >> well, you know, steve it's a great point and we're trying to figure out exactly what is going on as it pertains to the nhl' response to covid because to its credit, adam silvers came out yesterday the commissioner of the nba and basically said hey, covid is not going away, we have to learn how to live with it, we're not going to postpone or suspend very many games and we're certainly not stopping the season. by the way welcome to the party pal, how about finally stepping up and recognizing what the data is saying, adam silver. the nfl appears to be doing the same thing and they got a couple of tuesday night games last night but they don't appear willing to change anything with their schedule but the nhl is doing the opposite. they have stopped and they have to deal with canada and canadian people have lost their minds when it comes to responding to covid. brian: it's amazing. >> but they are now not going over to beijing at all which is a major blow to the olympics and it's more significant than the diplomatic boycott because you think about the nhl players and all of the different countries those players are on and the impact of ice hockey in general in the olympics, i think this is a body blow to the olympics and frankly, i don't think the united states or any other western democracy should be going at all and giving china the benefit of going to beijing after they unleashed covid-19 on the world. i think even the years ago it was standing room only in houses of worship all across the country, especially during the christmas season, and the holidays, but a new report finds that church attendance is down 22% nationwide since the start of the pandemic. how can congregations come back together especially this time of year? here with his idea somebody who knows a lot about this it's his business the archbishop of new york, timothy cardinal dolan. cardinal good morning to you. hey, steve, good morning. appreciate the invitation good to be with you guys always. steve: you bet. all right, in the beginning, obviously, it was covid. a year ago at christmas my wife and i watched your stream, live from the cathedral and it was great but it's not the same as being there. >> we're doing it again. i'm glad to hear you say that, steve you're right. steve: we might be watching it, but through this past year, church attendance has started to grow back and then omicron. tell us what happened. >> yeah, you're right. our stats showed us that things were beginning gradually to go back to where they were before covid, hallelujah, my parish priest was saying that and we saw it ourselves at st. patrick 's cathedral so we were really beginning to boom during november we were getting back to standing room only at the sunday masses at st. patrick 's and by the way they still are, thanks be to god , but i'm afraid you're right when i get some of the intel from out in the field so my parish priests are saying now the people are apprehensive again and having second thoughts about getting into big crowds, but in general, steve, it's still going up. the people don't seem to be panicking, they have a sense that we know what we're doing, we were extraordinarily safe and healthy and secure during the big lockdown last year, and church is safe and they're coming back and i'm thrilled they are. steve: yeah, you know, one of the things when we were all super locked down and watching the live stream is you feel part of it but at the same time, you feel isolated, and that's what people miss by not being able to go back to church because when you gather together, you gather together, so what's your message to people all across the country as we approach christmas? >> come home for christmas, come home to your spiritual home , your parish church, wherever you worship and praise our lord for the supreme gift of his only begotten son that first christmas our lord and saviour jesus christ. come on home and listen to this great philosopher steve doocy who says yeah, watching it live stream, watching it online, that's okay for second-best, but god intends for us to be together. when you think about it that's the message at christmas, isn't it? god didn't send us a video. god didn't send us an e-mail. god became one of us and entered human history and was with us, okay? he wants that personal community that's what the church is. that's what sunday worship is. that's what christmas is. we'll be looking for you. steve: well, we don't have 15 minutes for your sermon for christmas, but what's the theme going to be because it's another tough year. >> i'm kind of going to talk what we just were, steve, and i'm really going to talk about the eucharist, as you know we bishops have said we have to revive the faith of our people in the mystery, the awe of the holy hawk, sunday mass, because people were slipping away and now we get the mystery of the eucharist at christmas, jesus was born in bethlehem which means house of bread, and he was born in a manger, and later on he would say i am the bread of life as he fed people with bread and the night before he died, he gave us the bread and said take and eat, this is my body, this is my blood. that's the holy eucharist. that's mass, that's holy communion, that's the blessed sacrament and jesus began hinting at it and teaching us about it that first christmas in bethlehem when he laid him in a management manger, but you've got the 30 second synopsis, okay steve: well thank you very much. i can see the christmas tree behind you there. urls featured in a special on fox nation right now called " christmas at the cathedral" hosted by jonathan morris and he sits down and talks a little bit about you because that is st. pat's on fifth avenue is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and at christmastime right over-the-top >> you're telling me. traditionally, steve, from about mid-november until right after the new year, the feast of the epiphany, we get between two and 3 million pilgrims at st. patrick's cathedral and there's some magic there. they might walk in as tourists but they're transformed into pilgrims. there's a sense of reverence and awe as they look at the crib. there's nothing like going over there and sees momming and dads and grandmas and grandpas teaching the lesson, the mast ic , the mystery of the first christmas and that's what happens at st. patrick's and we're thrilled that it does. a little down this year because we don't have as many tourists and we don't have as many business people. we were all saddened that radio city music hall had to cancel their christmas spectacular. do we love that, but we're still in business here at st. patrick 's so come on by. it's a christmas spectacular too steve: that's fantastic, and of course, if not as many author douglas murray on the push for wokeness in our schools coming up, next. >> a public school system in michigan facing backlash after it spent three weeks teaching adults in the district how to be good equity allies, day 18 of their equity challenge linked to a list of micro-aggressions to avoid including calling america the land of opportunity. they also urge parents to join a black lives matter or affiliated protest. author douglas murray joins us now to react, good morning, douglas. >> good morning. >> good morning. okay, so this is coming from farmington public schools. this is openly political and anti-american. the problem is that we hear stories like this all the time. why is that? >> that's right. we do. it's because an awful lot of people in the teaching profession in this country seem to believe that the job of teaching is not to do with teaching as we once understood it but to do with indoctrination, to do with political indoctrination, to providing america with a new generation of activist students. this has to stop and i'll just give you one example of why. it's not just the rancid politics these people are pushing. the whole thing is a cover for the total inadequacy of the teaching unions and others in states like michigan. you know what the literacy rates were in 2019 in the whole state of michigan. you had people leaving school with the adequate or above- adequate literacy rates, were around 7%. 7%. the year before that we were talking about 6% in the city of detroit. 6% of students had adequate literacy levels. in other words, what these extreme idealogs are totally failing at the fundamental job of teaching. they are failing most students who are leaving schools without the adequate literacy levels they are going to need in life so they can play these games about saying micro-aggressions this and america land of opportunity is a racist trope that but they are failing at the single job that we have given them to do. >> wow you're absolutely right and what happens to this country and what happens to kids if lessons like this , land of opportunity, is a micro- aggression, continues? >> it has been our own trip, brian, on the madden cruiser through the journey of his life. its been an absolute privilege and joy to be able to show people all the different ways that john madden still so deeply influences and shapes pro- football in this country. we put out 38 requests, brian, for people to speak to us. we got 38 yeses. you mentioned a few of those names from tom brady to patrick mahomes to bill belle check who wanted to spend nearly an hour talking about john madden. its just been a joy working on the project. brian: ten years as a coach and they win a super bowl i get it but what happened as a broadcast er, what is so transformational about him? >> brian you get this from the work that you guys do every day. what translates at home most is authenticity and jon hilsenrath had this passion and had no interest into going into broadcasting and when he left he didn't have much respect at all for the way games were telecast but once he got in the booth he understood let me have this opportunity as a teacher to build appreciation and understanding for the game, and when that mind was unleashed, it changed the way people understood football. brian: you know, remember howard kocel didn't want an athlete in the booth? let alone a coach as flamboyant as madden, but did you find that that's just who he was? >> that's what i mean about the authenticity, brian and he's a true american original. you know, he was on the sideline described as looking like an unmade bed and john's response to that was i'll take that. that's pretty good. that sounds pretty accurate and when he got in the booth, he did the same. the creation of the first down line, all these different things let alone the fact that he's now a brand name that will live for who knows how many more decades through the video game, which so many people are going to receive on christmas. brian: gotcha. here's a little bit more on the madden documentary you have coming out. >> he made everyone want to watch football. >> if you just heard his voice in the distance. >> hi, i'm john madden. >> that was a tv you had to run to. >> you know, he coached with a passion and love for the game. he went into broadcasting, changed the way football was broadcast. >> some things just go together >> he changed the way america celebrates thanksgiving for crying outloud. brian: you know, tom maybe this was i know you were at espn at the time but when fox launch es sports they said what is this fox network and how do we even find it but when pat sommerserall and john madden come to fox sports they literally put it on the map. >> this is why i love being with you brian because you know. you know the story he gave credibility to fox sports you can't overstate even though john worked the only broadcaster ever to work at all four networks you can't overstate what it meant for john madden to come over to fox sports. there was so much question and skepticism what's it going to look lick this is the network that gave us the simpsons and married with children, how are they going to handle america's premier sort but when john madden signed up everything else fell into place. brian: now he's 85 we haven't seen him in a while. has he got a look at your production?
