stake was their promise to save america, at least in their own minds. and by save america, of course i mean save their re-election chances. in 2022 and 2024. and so for three quarters of a year, the sales pitch has been on. >> we are hard at work on build back better which includes so many policies families need so very much. >> i think build back better is going to help build this country back better and we're going to keep negotiating. >> it's important for us to get the build back better act over the finish line. >> for the american families to make it in the next year, we have got to make sure that build back better is passed. >> will: build back better did not make the finish line. it stumbled right at the ribbon. and its death, by the way is good news for americans. why is that? because right now this country is facing the highest inflation rate it has had in 39 years. and, according to brand new fox business poll released just an hour ago, it is inflation that is far and away voter's top concern with 84% of americans saying they are either extremely or very concerned about inflation. that's higher than high crime rates and covid-19. and americans know another thing. they know that build back better would have been like throwing gasoline on a fire, 46% saying it would have pushed inflation even higher. but here's what's weird. for so much at stake for democrats with build back better, they barely seem to notice its death. they are obsessed right now on capitol hill and on cable news with their one true addiction, donald trump. they are obsessed with january 6th. they remain on this existential hunt to justify the six years they lost to their own insanity and they keep coming back for another hit on that pipe. but americans have noticed junky behavior of the left. look at joe biden's approval rating on everything. everything from the economy, to crime and education. low, under water, approval rating, on almost every big issue. certainly every issue that concerns americans. but, again, here's what is even weirder, democrats sound positively confident that despite reality, a reality that was quantified in those numbers, they sound confident they will crush republicans in 2022. >> our country could not be more -- could not be better served than with this most experienced capable hands than yours president biden. [applause] he is just perfect. the timing couldn't be better. >> now we look at 2022, i want to tell my republican friends get ready pal you got in for a problem. let me say this again for the president. we are going to win in 2022. >> get ready pal. joe biden's absolutely perfect. what could justify that kind of confidence? that's a man that just got dumped on and is peacocking his feathers on the way back up the court. maybe it's because he knows the next play maybe because democrats know the next move. build back better may be on the shelf but that's only until democrats can clear the way to pass it with zero resistance. we know their playbook well. when they lose the game, they work the ref. when working the ref fails they change the rules. they left that playbook in the locker room. they tell graphed their game plan. and here is where it starts it starts with the supreme court. senator elizabeth warren says that a 6-3 conservative majority, quote: threatens the foundations of our nation. and she is arguing now that in order to restore balance and integrity and she is introducing a bill to back this up that congress must expand the court by four seats or more. obviously those seats will be filled by liberal justices. but that's just the first step. the real hail mary is to start moving to federalizing elections. it's hard to overstate how big a move the democrats plan to launch next. part of the reasons they sheffield build back better is so they can shift focus now to taking over elections. they are looking for a last minute push of the freedom to vote act before the end of the year which would federalize elections, take away power from states and put it in the hands of democrats. this is their new year's resolution and last night joe biden summed tupper perfectly he said the quiet part out loud. it's not about who votes. but it's about who counts the vote. >> no longer just who gets the vote or making it easy for eligible people to vote, it's about who gets to count the vote and whether your vote counts at all. >> will: last year we saw one of the most unique elections in american history. we saw radical change to how americans voted. we saw mail-in balloting from coast to coast and it was absolutely transformative and the transformation has only started to begin. so now, with almost a smirk on their face, certainly with a lot of confidence, democrats move on to changing the rules, if you can't win the game, change the game. joining me now is the host of unfiltered on saturday night here on the fox news channel, it is dan bongino. dan, so good to see you don't. as you see this reaction, the democrats have to the failure of build back better, it certainly raises the question why so coy? why so confident? why so happy? what comes next, dan? >> well a couple things. first, i wanted to comment on what you were saying and you are absolutely right when the democrats lose the political argument they try to change the rules of the game. you know, michael anton who has been on the network dwight a bit. i have had him on my show he has the smailes exhortation remember from caddie shack you will get nothing and like it. that's the democrats. you vote for things, right? and then you vote for things you like. if it's not what they like, they just change the rules of voting. likes that the democrats. you will get nothing and like it. on second topic, brought up a number of things they are under water on, crime, inflation, coronavirus. it's like gee, i wonder why. i used to ask the question, seriously, are the democrats, you know, the swamp rats. i'm not talking about necessarily the voters. but the swamp rats in d.c., are they just dumb or are they really good liars? i have been forced to ask this question often. because you think to yourself like did it really take a genius to figure out what they're under water on crime because someone said hey, i really think we should defund the police? that will be great for reducing crime. and then a best of your knowledge of people got killed and stores got broken into and they were like wow, maybe that wasn't a good idea. go on to something like inflation. let's expand the money supply by two and three times while we are in the supply chain crisis and have a whole bunch of money chafs fewer objects and someone like like holy crap that led to inflation who would have thought it coronavirus, i have an idea explosion in day or night cases and omicron. what didn't work last night. mask mandates and vaccine that didn't work. let's do that again. let's try that a third time. so i have come to the conclusion that, no, a lot of them in the d.c. swamp really are stupid. i'm basing did on evidence. i'm sorry, i have the evidence right there. >> will: you know, part of that hey back to the same verse another time has been this january 6th fixation, dan, that's what they have been fixated on the last several days. it shouldn't go unnoticed that adam schiff, chief liar of the entire russia hoax over the past five years spent the last couple of days lies again, dan, by fixing text messages altering them and presenting them before congress. >> keep in mind, will, this is the guy -- i mean, how does this guy continue to be accepted in complete company even amongst. aren't you embarrassed like he wrote the schiff memo after the whole collusion will hoax thing every serious person in the known universe. now he gets busted doctoring texts to make something seem like it wasn't in these texts to mark meadows yet i'm sure he is like a golden calf among democrats who genuine flect and bow in front of them. i'm serious with january 6th committee, it is the democrats, it's the super pac to get democrats elected in 2022, right? the only reason liz cheney and her fellow democrats yeah i didn't say that wrong. liz cheney and her fellow democrats the only reason they are doing what they are doing and outing fox news people's texts which by the way totally discredit their theory of a planned insurrection which is the greatest cell phone ever but cheney is not smart enough to figure it out. the only research they are doing this because they know they are in trouble in 2022. they want every republican doing this, will, looking over my shoulder my gosh if i text will cain with my texts next? i'm not kidding i'm deadly serious. a message to every republican out there. you better be careful how give money to or who you send a text to or fund an event from we are coming for you next. i have zero doubted about that. >> will: do you have any doubt about nancy pelosi's message that joe biden is absolutely perfect? do you believe the democrats will be unified behind joe biden in 2024? do you believe he will be their candidate? >> no, no. it's interesting. bret stephens, who is no like die hard conservative. he is the biggest never trumpers out there. you know, he wrote a piece that was petty sound. "new york times" or whatever. and he is like listen, you know, biden is no good. i'm sorry, will, he's no good. the guy is under water. there are questions about his cognitive competency. nothing he is doing is working. crime, inflation, the economy, the border. he has nothing to rely on. you know, he doesn't have anything -- here's the problem. he doesn't have anything to distract people. he can't say oh well the border isn't going well but, look, i got these tax cuts and they led to 7%, you know, economic growth and look at all this great stuff that's happening right now. he doesn't have that okay. the g.d.p. growth is still subwhere we were and the job numbers are still subwhere we were before this coronavirus thing started. everybody knows it he has nothing to rely on. he has to get out now. he has to announce. he has to announce now that he won't run again. because there is nowhere else -- what's he going to do? wait until the last minute and then they are stuck, what, with what kamala harris as a backup plan? it's like bringing the worst reliever ever out of the bullpen like the guy who couldn't hack it in aa and bringing him in the ninth inning. you are the sports guy. get the righty, and it's the aa pitcher with 10.7 era bring in righty. you want mariano rivera, you want lee smith, you don't want smith lee and that's who kamala harris is. they have got to get a back up plan now. this guy is a disaster and everybody knows it. >> will: bongino, i was hanging on your every word as i always do when you are speaking so i don't want you to think i was ignoring what you had to say when i admit that i did a quick google search because i found a quote that i think is important maybe for this moment. i want to see if you recognize this quote: the quote goes it's easy to grin when your ship comes in and you have got the stock market beat but the man worthwhile is the man who can smile when his shorts are too tight in the seat. do you know who said that?
