how do we wage a war on loneliness and anxiety and depression and how do we protect our children and grandchildren? joining us now is a father of three himself in a clinical psychologist in dallas texas. tell us what you see when you see the research of young people struggling with mental health. >> it is alarming. your summary is chilling and unfortunately accurate. we are seeing more young adults we have ever seen. they are not encouraged by society or institutions or even leaders. they said that common sense and logic instead it's emotion and rhetoric. that is what they are exposed to at home because moms and dads and grandparents and answer closer in the middle of this as well. and they have to learn at a very young age to have really important information and to know that the information can negatively affect and skew their perception of the world. they have to protect that in keep that information out and to be encouraged and inspired by things within the reach. trey: now first to the people themselves young people that may be struggling but then for the parents and grandparents you want to help them what is your advice for them? >> my advice to the young adults, i need you to keep talking about visiting. i need to hear you be inspired by subjects or work or some passion. that's a conversation we need to have. even though your mom and dad and grandparents are your friend group don't start sounding like us. i don't know why but when we get older we talk about illness, and disease and ways to die. don't do that. talked about what you are excited about and where you want to work and where you want to be. please remember your risk factors young adult are not mine. i was really worried about you getting hurt i'm talking about your driving and not having accidents not a virus. because the data the virus for that group is not nearly as deadly as other important things and isolation leads to the second leading cause of death which is the hopelessness that you don't want to keep living. so think broadly about your healthcare. pay attention to the virus you don't want to get it. neither do i that loneliness and isolation lead to anxiety anyone to be mindful of your overall health. don't do something good that starts another problem. trey: we have known each other since we were teenagers there were challenges in the eighties. i don't remember them but i guess there was. but it does seem different now that young people have more to compete with. or is just that in old man not remembering the past very well quick. >> it could be both to be fair. but when we look at the trend over the past ten years, is not the same as when we went to high school and college and mom and dad stopped using your experience of reference for them. it is a very different world. so where do you look to be excited about moving forward?
