>> reporter: apologize for that when she apologizes for the sweet she sent two years ago after jussie smollett was apostate by those poor vortex people with maga hats, that never happened. and she jumped to conclusions there and jump to a conclusion here. the vice president has not spoken about the border publicly in months but this somehow gets her attention, rushing to judgment in this situation. us border patrol are not happy about this because they say this shows this is who the vice president really is. she attacked us, she doesn't help us in any way, shape or form, she's in charge of the border in terms of resources, coming to an actual border town to see what is going on saying this is how we fix the problem. this is the vice president who compared ice to the kkk and said illegal migrant crossings should be made legal when she was a candidate running for president and she is in charge of fixing the problem. she showed what she is here in this situation will never be fixed as long as she is in charge, she is going on the view friday which should be very interesting. it will be like the race crispies of talk shows, snack crackle pop lovefest. i hope somebody says we should challenge the vice president on this. todd: one more thing to add, she told us not to get the vaccine of trump made it and now telling everybody to get the vaccine, trump still made it, operation warp speed. jillian: gabby petito's death ruled a homicide after utah park ranger said she warned gabby about her toxic relationship with brian laundrie while responding to this 911 call. >> the gentleman was slapping the girl. >> he was slapping her? >> first thing you notice is that gabby petito appears really scared. she is distraught, confused, crying, at times she is very coherent and that level of fear should be alarming to first responders and there is a real disconnect between what she is presenting where she is so scared and brian laundrie who appears relaxed, rather cold and even joking with police officers. >> reporter: we got audio the 911 call and the caller was saying they saw the gentleman slapping the girl, brian laundrie and gabby petito. you pair that with what we heard from gabby on that video and she is apologizing saying she can sometimes be mean and she is ocd. what do you think of her putting a lot of blame on herself? >> that was apparent which was from the beginning she seemed to minimize the incident and take the blame for the incident and that is striking because she appears scared and upset, scared upset young woman, very coherent at times, string a sentence together and keep blaming herself, that fits the profile of domestic abuse victim. jillian: that is disheartening to hear. we all heard the saying, people called 911 and you have this headline from one of those responding officers in utah, i can still hear her voice saying her relationships shamed toxic. i was probably more candid with her than i should have been this officer recalled, warning petito their relationship had the markings of a toxic one. quite chilling when you read something like that and know that there were officers, park rangers there, somebody in hindsight, i'm sure these officers are having a hard time and struggling with their decisions in a situation to separate them for a night and not do something more about it. what do you think as a whole we learned from this? >> people want to walk off the job. i continue to say this. i'm not trying to be divisive but people securing the border, the trooper standing in front of me. the wall in front of me is state trooper cars with the troopers standing on guard 24/seven. border patrol not even allowed to secure the border so the morale is an all-time low which is why you had the lieutenant governor saying if the federal government doesn't want to do the job or treat border patrol with this respect they deserve and allow them to do their job, give them a 10,$000 bonus, let texans do the job if they can't do it. i can't state this enough. up on the bridge where the migrants are, where media puts out misinformation and see what happened in port-au-prince it causes a situation where people are ready to riot, stirring up down there so got to be careful how you cover this and careful what is going out to the public because it can cause officers and border patrol to get hurt. >> nothing more, nothing less. a lot of different outlets for a month now. thank you very much. todd: that is "happening now" on america's doorstep. what did president biden have to say when asked about it at the un? biden says we can get it under control. can he? >> it has been a week, took until yesterday to appear to have a plan. there are 45 agents on duty and talked earlier, we were bailed out by dps again, saving us from another immigration crisis. >> a different way of asking the question in light of the fact this is a biden created border crisis, the crisis we've seen at the southern border started in january this year when president biden took office. does president biden, does this administration have the will to get it under control? >> i don't know. we can only hope they do because if more people feel this is the best way to come into the us, to camp out under a bridge we are in for serious trouble in the future because this has been a disaster for the past week for immigrants into the bridge and first responders. if we don't get this under control this will continue to happen. >> the dhs secretary shot down the notion that the border is open. what i can't wrap my head around, how can he look at these images and say the border is anything other than open. >> i don't have any idea. it is primarily open. it has to be. we have agents on the field most of the time, the past several months, we have troopers on the road but only on the highways. we have plenty of people running through private property, for him to say the border is secure doesn't make any sense. >> from a humanity perspective what is it like for you to experience what you are experiencing watching all those people? >> we've never seen this before, we always dealt with families coming across and they are in our station, but to see this under the bridge is terrible, agents, parents, toddlers playing in the dirt because that is where their parents brought them, this is the best way to come into the us, it is heartbreaking. >> when you mentioned these agents our parents, what do you think when you hear kamala harris say we need to investigate these agents when we've since learned or if you paid attention to anybody who knows about horses that what they are doing is trying to keep the horses from harming these migrants between you heard these comments what did you think? >> it is upsetting for the past week or so it has been difficult to find reporting about this in some parts of the media and now that there's an opportunity for people to go after individual agents here they are. the border patrol on horseback has a difficult job and have to keep people away from the horses so they don't get trampled. it is incredibly frustrating for the agents i have talked to on a regular basis and this started. they are upset they are being painted as bad guys when they are there with the rest of us trying to do our job and take care of everyone under the bridge. will: appreciate you telling the story. thank you. jillian: a major news outlet publishing a major report about hunter biden and his laptop, the same report the new york post broke and fox news verified a year ago. what took so long? >> well, of course iowans disapprove of the job president biden is doing. if you look at what has happened here it makes complete sense why he is seeing such a low approval rating of the state of iowa. iowans appreciate common sense and that's not what we are seeing. massive overspending and massive government overregulation. overstep into iowans lives they have a low tolerance for that broken promises and president biden obviously came to ohio first in the nation state. made all of those promises and clearly is not delivering. so, that is a direct result of all of those failed policies we have seen out of the biden administration and speaker pelosi this year. todd: congresswoman take a look at the pandemic numbers i think the white house think it's doing a bang up job on the pandemic. i think the white house thinks this is their number one issue they need to ride to the midterms. 60% of people disapprove of joe biden's handling of the pandemic. only 46% approve. why did so many voters incorrectly think that joe biden would be our covid savior. >> are iowans value our freedom. freedom of opportunity, are freedom for our schools, our kids are back in schools in and classrooms. that's what iowans want. and that's what americans want. again, they are tired of seeing crisis after crisis not just a crisis with covid but crisis at the border. crisis with afghanistan. crisis with overspending, you name it, that's what iowans are tired of. and so i think that's the message that i have heard loud and clear as i have been out in the district. i just completed my third will town hall. listening to folks, message cloud and clear they don't want this overregulation and spending. that message is very, very clear to me. jillian: 30 seconds for answer. the house passes a bill to raise the debt ceiling. a lot of americans ice wide open with inflation and things we are seeing happening when it comes to our economy what is going to be best for the american people. >> that's for the american people realing in this out of control spending. our credit card is maxed out. our bill is do. democrats just want to spend every single cent that's left in the couch cushion. we have been advocating for spending spig get for months. it's making life harder for all working americans. todd: is there any way this gets through the senate?
