new york young republicans will reoccupy wall street following what happened to gamestop. they shut down the trading little guys made too much money and hedge funds were bleeding. ironic, how things are twist, they are saying we're up against wall street. we want to reoccupy it. we're slamming the idea there was shutdown for retail traders. here is gavin wax, new york president of young republicans. what we saw the last few days was absolutely despicable. it pissed off a lot of people. we have the elites and substrata everyone else that doesn't get to sit at the big boy table and make the big boy money. they need to be prosecuted. a lot of these guys need to go to jail. text messages and emails need to be sized. used to be republicans backing wall streeters. now the party of the people saying let's level this out. and why shouldn't we have an equal place? will: i was fascinated, sitting with a buddy, talking about the changes we've gone through the past decade, the movement we have experienced in terms of our opinions on popular issues. and we have understood, there has been this change, jedediah, as that young republican leader pointed out, gaff vin wax, there is clear division in the society between the elites and substrata of people don't get to play by the same rule that has become a revelation on many on the right needs to be paid attention more, forgotten man. when it comes to occupy wall street from a decade ago it shared some similarities. this isn't right, big companies. the difference their solution. occupy wall street embraced communism and socialism for and tea party was bringing government back in. looking at the same problem. we need to have a serious debate about the solutions. jedediah: yeah. it seems to be that every few years something happens. there is a movement. there is something in society that serves us as trigger, right? you're talking about occupy wall street. now we're saying this issue with gamestop. it's a trigger, right? it is an eye-opening moment where people sit back, hold on a second are we in a world of haves and have-nots on profound and deep level not only affecting censorship and our finances now. that happens. the issue that then things settle in and everything kind of goes back to normal, right? what needs to happen in these moments of crisis or moments of eye-opening things where people say, you know, hold on a second and reflect, that is when the change needs to happen. that is when that push for change needs to come. you will see it is interesting. now you have a bunch of billboards popping up around the country, check this one out on the corner of 54th and broadway in new york city, this is gamestop investors stepping up. they're mocking the hedge funds openly as you can see. this is their effort to bring that front and center to say to people this is the moment, open your eyes, this is similar moment when it came to twitter, facebook, censorship, not only censorship but what is happening in silicon valley essentially programing people but i think this is a moment for change. so what that change looks like i don't know but let's seize it at some point instead of every five or six years having a self reflective moment and it vanishes into nothing. pete: you have to have the reallation the system is rigged. the trading on robinhood, the initial tweet from robinhood let the people trade and now defending the hedge fund. put the photo back up of the banner. that is the ticker, gme of gamestop. i had to educate myself. i don't know the meme world. that is the sound after money printer. the sound counting money behind the bank counter. these folks are recognizing that a big system where the government prints money is not sustainable. where is the value of the money, where does it come from? they have been mocking it openly. gamestop, why can't we make money off of gamestop too? there are more flavorful banners that popped up across the country we can't share on morning television. they're rubbing it in the eye of the big guy. i made a bunch cash. i will put up a billboard. will: speaking of mocking "saturday night live" returned, mocking 2021. not too much mocking of the joe biden administration not yet at least. take a look. >> the new year. we have a new president so something should work but do they? >> yes. over this past year we set up a coalition between different pediatric residency programs in chicago and through that we've been able to initiatives. we've been able to keep apbreast of what is happening with others institutions. one thing we've seen a lot more kids are presenting with mental health crises in more severe forms and more frequently. we're hearing stories of parents finding suicide notes. students taking their lives with handful of pills or hanging themselves. in the hospital we're seeing a lot more kids admitted for mental health concerns. then many of which are getting stuck there for long periods of time. weeks even months up to, trying to get to the correct facilities to help take care of them as best as we can. jedediah: yeah. take a look at that cdc data on the increased mental health issues. emergency visits in particular, 24% increase of children aged five to 11. 31% increase among children aged 12 to 17. those are pretty big numbers. doctor, there still seems to be resistance, despite data we've seen by some teachers saying i don't feel safe. does the data support that? explain why this gamestop rebellion is so important. >> thank you. it is the same phenomenon you see because what brexit is about about detached political elites in brussels and in london not listening to ordinary people. the donald trump phenomenon, very much the same thing, the beltway, big businesses, big banks, not in touch with ordinary peoples lives, not in touch with reality. whether people were buying gamestop shares, order snarery folk in the street, whether they were getting good value or not isn't the point. they made a decision is what is supposed to be a free market, that they will buy these shares. of course some of the big cynical, you know, wall street hedge funds were shorting this stock, have been bleeding, have been losing money but hey, you know, all fair in love and war, all fair in financial markets. then suddenly, these millions of people who already have a perception that wall street looks after itself, that they always get dumped upon, suddenly in the middle of all of this, the biggest brokers in the usa, robinhood and others without warning, without reason, suspend, completely the buying of any new shares and guess what happens, guess what happens? the price plummets. now it is spread over here. we've got one of our biggest private client outfits saying, that for monday they will allow no fresh buying. so here arrest the problem. millions of people who already are very, very cynical about the way in which wall street works, rules of, and rules have been changed against the little guy, over the course of the last few days and, something about this that stinks to high heaven. what's really interesting, you know, i find myself agreeing with aoc and the left. this, this brings populists on the left and the right together, there has got to be congressional inquiry. there has been one on this side of the pond. why do the brokers stopped people from buying. i we lived a free open society. pete: it is supposed to be a free market until the system it knit isn't because the wrong side is winning. janet yellen, took a lot of money from hedge funds for speaking fees over the years. the white house was asked about janet yellen her involvement in advice what happened with gamestop and robinhood. here is what jen psaki, the press secretary said about that. >> separate from the gape stop gamestop issue, the secretary of treasury is one of world-renown experts on market and economy. shouldn't be surprised to anyone she was paid to give perspective and advice. pete: wasn't surprise she was paid by the hedge funds or before she was treasury secretary. the system is not supposed to work this way? >> remind us ourselves. there were no numbers in that report. $7 million. that is what she received from the big wall street firms for speaking, $7 million, including, $810,000 from a big firm called citadel, who were right at the heart of this ongoing battle. now look, i'm not going to make any false accusations at all but it is not difficult to work out where her i am sympathies might, i would like to know, i would like to know did she have a conversation with the regulator? did she have a conversation with those brokers? was she in some way involved with the suspension of temporary trading for ordinary people? you know something if this was donald trump's treasury secretary who seemed to be in the pockets of wall street to this extent, this would be one of the biggest scandals america has ever seen. because it is joe biden nobody at the moment is asking those questions. so let's have an inquiry, let's sort this out. tell you what if we don't, if we don't do this, then what you will see are tens of millions of people taking the view that the stock market is not for them. choosing to put their money, their savings their pension funds elsewhere. that will have very serious implications for the long term economy. don't underestimate just how important a moment this is in terms of public trust in our financial system. pete: great point. the morning you block, cover up, censor, cynicism you create by default. nigel farage, thank you so much for breaking it down for us, we appreciate it. you got it. following fierce backlash the pentagon reversing their decision to vaccinate prisoners at gitmo. national guard colonel, congressman michael waltz joins us to react to that next. secondarily, border wall construction has been halted so is there some hypocrisy going on here? your thoughts. >> obviously what happened on january 6th was terrible but we cannot turn the capitol into fort pelosi. the national guard is not pelosi's private security force. we still need a lot of answers. we don't even have an investigation yet into january 6th to understand the plotting, the planning, everything that happened beforehand. i think we need open hearings to understand that but not only to understand that, what is the threat going forward. i sent a letter with fellow republican this is week to the acting secretary of the army to ask them what is this massive threat that size of which the nature of which demands more soldiers on capitol hill than in iraq and afghanistan combined? we still have a lot of answers before we start turning this thing into forward operating base or fort pelosi as some people called it. pete: you just did. i like it. 7,000 on call through march with a threat assessment no one is aware of as you pointed out. one last thing real quick, the covid-19 relief bill we talked about quite some time, democrats are trying to tie school openings to that. here is what bernie sanders had to say about it. >> we do not have 60 votes from republicans to address the catastrophes that are impacting working families today. so the only way that we are going to deal effectively with the pandemic and get vaccines into the arms of people, increase vaccine production, the only way we're going to raise the minimum wage to a living wage so people are not working for starvation wages, the only way we're going to open up our schools in a way that is safe the only way that we're going to put people back to work in restaurants and protect small businesses, the only way we are going to do that is reconciliation. pete: the only way we open our schools is through budget reconciliation, which means 51 votes in the senate. your reaction? >> schools are open in many states already and they are, they have done so safely. schools in florida have been open since august where we give the families, we give families the choice of go to school in person or stay at home, your choice, we'll make them available. let's use that money to actually help students. let's increase teacher pay if that is what we want to debate and that is what we want to do. let's use knit ways that students can benefit over the long term, not putting in, you know, hvac systems or what have you. the democrats are always pounding the table about support the science. there is no science that says school openings are a problem. kids have a 99.98% chance of being fine, even if they then get the virus. this is, and the thing that most upsets me with this coming from bernie sanders is that this is, this is class warfare in the sense that if you're a white-collar worker, you can stay home when your kids are locked up at home going to school. if you're a truck driver, construction worker, waitress, you can't. and i share, we've had video of this outraged dad in virginia, that was given it to the school board. there is no reason these schools can't be open right now. to see the democrats using that as a excuse to push their progressive policies is shameful. pete: live in democrat city bubble world where a lot of states figured out how to do it including yours. >> they need to stand up to the teachers unions this is what this is all about. pete: hard to stand up to the teachers unions when you're in bed with them. i don't know how they do that. that would be nice to see. colonel walsh, happy birthday. how will you spend your birthday, sir? probably not. the whole d-day landing to save civilization probably didn't require 60 meetings. but teachers unions in chicago and the mayor of chicago have required at least 60 meetings to figure out whether the teachers will strike or come back into the classroom and kids will finally come back into the classroom. we are on a sunday before tomorrow when the schools are supposed to reopen. guess what, will? they still haven't reached a deal. the teachers unions are insisting on series of demands in order to get teachers back in the classroom, none of which have anything to do whether or not the kids will get the best education possible. will: your analogy is actually on point perfectly. you know why general eisenhower might not have had 60 meetings to plan the d-day invasion? everybody involved in that entire process, that mission, had the same identifiable goal. everybody involved in the negotiation knew they wanted to defeat the nazis. everybody in this negotiation is not working off the same script with the same goal in mind. are you convinced the teachers union want to get back to being work, have in-person learning want to get kids back in the room? that is not the goal i'm certain they're working toward in chicago. thus you have next, upon next, and next, and this is coming from mayor lori lightfoot and the ceo on the negotiations with the teachers union, there is still significant work nodes to be done on remaining several open issues we must make additional meaningful progress today and tomorrow as time is running out. our team remains at the bargaining table with the goal of reaching a sensible agreement to allow chicago teachers to safely return to the classroom. we'll keep families updated as the work continues through the weekend. jedediah, if that is the goal, you have to ask a simple question, why are other school distributes getting back to in-person learning five days a week? jedediah: there is no answer. that is why you have parents who sue. we had a paint on yesterday they had to give up her whole career. they lost income in the household. they feel they have no choice that is the direction parents are going in. it is safe. we did a segment, i don't know if you guys remember over the summer i went into a school as long as you're able to practice social distancing they have barriers, they have masks. as long as the teachers are equipped with the proper materials this should be a no-brainer at this point particularly given the data we have. we didn't have as much data in the summer when some schools said it is time to reopen. now we have a plenty of data reporting that these are not superspreader events. i spoke with a doctor, pediatrician earlier on weight of mental health on kids not being in school. listen to what he had to say. >> the one thing we've been seeing a lot more kids are presenting with mental health crises in nor severe forms and more frequently. so we're hearing stories of parents finding suicide notes or kids trying to take their lives by taking a handful of pills or hanging themselves. we also have, in the hospital itself we're also seeing a lot more kids being admitted for mental health concerns. many are getting stuck there for long periods of time, weeks even months. pete: great point. someone who could try to lead the way on this, joe biden i demand, i insist, it is a prerogative for our nation our kids get back in the classroom. dan bongino was on justice with thoughts that is not happening? >> we certainly haven't seen anymore green jobs. we have a lot of green jobs in texas. we lead the nation in oil and gags production. over 40% of the petroleum, 20% of the natural gas produced in texas but we lead the nation in wind energy and solar energy. the problem is, when biden says they can make solar panels, out of the 10 major manufacturers of solar panels are in china that doesn't help us any. he wants to shut down the keystone pipeline. that is environmentally disasterous. that is the worst thing you can possibly do for the environment. you know that means it will still be transported in trucks, on railcars, or in big tanker ships. anybody remember the ex on valdez, what it did to the west coast of the united states? guess what, all three of those burn diesel. those are greenhouse emissions. guess what doesn't have any emissions? pipelines. pete: [laughter]. i'm told the biggest solar farm in america is in texas yet it only employs 12 permanent workers. ultimately once you installing it is one thing but it doesn't create perpetual jobs. when the white house is saying we'll bring in millions of green jobs, do they know they're lying, or just how they're trying to rationalize isn't. >> i don't see, it is all talk, you know. this is the same talk, rehashed from the obama-biden administration. anybody that remember all the green jobs that, five million green jobs. they never materialized. remember what happened to solyndra, half a billion dollars, never turned the switch on that project. completely lost half a billion dollars of taxpayer money. so, you know, we're going down the same road but we need to learn from our mistakes. we can have all the buzz but don't have to eliminate all the petroleum in the mix. we need to be environmentally conscious. you know, we have over 2.6 million miles of pipeline in the united states. put that in perspective, that means those lines can go to the moon and back five times! you never hear about a pipeline spill. but you hear about railcars derailing? i'm wondering if you will address the fact that this is defined as a bar, right? there are different restrictions for establishments that define themselves as bars and restaurants. that in itself is somewhat arbitrary to me? >> that is what we're looking at, we're kind of using theory of unjust, inverse condemnation, the government can't take your property without just compensation, but also the equal protection and due process. we do have the odd rules of it is global pandemic. they need to shut us down for the health. why you shut down the bar owner but not the landlord? the arbitrariness. i can go into a facility that serves food, sit at the bar drink all day. but because the atomic fern and other places like that don't serve food, people are not allowed to go in there. that does seem arbitrary, that the due process, equal protection argument that businesses are being treated differently even if therapy model is essentially identical. jedediah: you know, kevin the fact that you don't have outdoor seating, i'm guessing was a big problem for you. have you noticed that other businesses, similar in terms of what they provide, meaning, they provide food and drinks, had a different setup were able to sustain themselves much better virtue of what their establishment looked like versus outdoor and indoor and what not? ♪. pete: americans bracing for an aggressive gun control agenda under joe biden. the fbi revealing back ground checks surged to a record high. will: "fox nation" host lara logan is here to react. good morning, lara. i think the fascinating thing about this the biden administration is leaning into what we all now probably would come, gun control legislation at a time more and more americans are buying guns and seemingly politically against something like this. >> yes. well this is a grand deception, right, to say this is about gun control, gun legislation is, is really a lie. what this legislation effect testifily does, it is h.r. res. solution 127, that is before the house, introduced by a democrat, sheila jackson lee. what it effectively does render firearms, ownership, possession, possession of ammunition completely in effective. right. it makes the second amendment in effective, what it does, it insists on a national gun registry. nothing is grandfathered in. not just for your firearms but for your ammunition as well. tough submit to an intensive background search if you're deemed psychologically unsuitable, you can be denied this weapon and of course the psychological valuation has to be conducted by a psychologist approved by the attorney general. this registry will be available to lawmakers, both states and federal. so look at all the lawmakers who today consider half of this country to be unsuitable, mentally unsuitable for a firearm because they're insane enough to vote for the republican or donald trump. so, if you don't just look at the gun control legislation in isolation. because the reason that you're seeing such a rush on firearms, which by the way been going on long before the election, such a rush on ammunition, people all over have been talking about it for months and months, you can't find ammunition anywhere, it is being restricted. people are traveling just to buy it, that is looked at in terms of the terrorist, domestic terrorist legislation before congress right now as well. along with the environmental legislation. there has never been a time where people believed more strongly in the second amendment. people who own weapons. and, that is, you know, if you ask the country to vote on whether or not you wanted to repeal the second amendment, that would be a whole different conversation. what this legislation does is basically render the second amendment completely and utter at this are meaningless. it is being dishonest with what you're actually doing. pete: so well-said when you strip it back. they want to get rid of the second amendment for the reasons you. we appreciate that. you have a great special to night. lara logan investigates mexican massacre. here is a small part. >> the peace an quiet the langford family always known in mexico was taken from them on a cold winter morning in december 2019 when nine women and children from this mormon family were massacred. >> it's a nightmare i wish we would wake up from and never happened. these women were innocent, and children were innocent. pete: lara, what brought you to this story? >> well i'm always drawn to the stories where you know, there is something very powerful and important is happening but especially where people are portrayed in a way that isn't necessarily accurate or honest or true. and you know what seemed to happen with this family, there was a lot of sympathy when the massacre first broke into the news. then once people thought, they're a bunch of mormons living down in some cultish place in mexico, you saw this shift in the press coverage. that is always significant to me. so i wanted to understand you know, and learn about this for myself. but also, just sheer horror of knowing what happened to this family. of course what i found was nothing like what was reported. these are really extraordinary people who do not live in a cult, who are not fundamentalist religious people who are not crazy. and, who are very loving, genuine family, as far as i can tell, there is no evidence to suggest any of them were involved with the cartels. so this was really important for me to learn about them and to get this right. also you know, kind of to do justice to those three women and their children who were so brutally murdered, who truly were innocent. jedediah: lara, we're very much looking forward to the pressure. lara logan investigates the mormon massacre. that will air tonight on 10:00 p.m. eastern time on fox news channel. that will be available on "fox nation" following airing on fox. >> thank you. jedediah: adam klotz is going to do the weather and i guess he telling us snow is coming. >> you're absolutely right. for some folks it is already falling. over the next couple days it is a real slow-mover. they have seen the snow falling from chicago, indianapolis overnight tonight. the leading edge running along the east coast. it will be there for a while. we have winter storm watches and warnings up the great lakes into the mid-atlantic into new england. all areas eventually see a lot of lot of snow. how much are we talking about, when will it be happening? [laughter] jedediah: i love it. i love it. well, more on this, we're going to have toing dig a little deeper and get those details from will cain. right now the pentagon is announcing it will pause the biden's -- biden administration's plan to give the covid vaccine to guantanamo detainees. >> reporter: pentagon press secretary john kirby tweeted, quote: no guantanamo detainees have been vaccinated, we're pausing the plan as we review force protection protocols. we remain committed to our obligations to keep our troops safe. the department of defense had planned to offer vaccinations this week to terrorism suspects held at guantanamo. the cdc says nearly 25 million americans have received at least one vaccine shot with tens of millions still waiting to even make an appointment drawing swift criticism of dod plans to vaccinate prisoners at guantanamo. >> what are we doing in we've got hundreds, thousands, millions of people that don't have the opportunity to get the shot, and we're worrying about criminals that we spend millions of dollars a year to take care of. >> reporter: among the detainees, khalid sheikh mo if happened and three the others held in connection with the 2002 bombing. earlier this month workers started vaccinating residents there including about 1500 troops. during the 2020 presidential campaign, then-candidate biden promised to close the prison at guantanamo bay though offered no specific proposal. during his administration president obama unsuccessfully attempted to empty the detention center there and try all the prisoners through the federal court system. back to you guys. pete: you know, it just didn't pass the smell test. the headline test. thankfully, someone stepped in and said this is a terrible idea not just for the obvious reason that terrorists shouldn't go in front of american citizens, but when you think of the guys still at gitmo, we had a congressman talking about who's at gitmo that would get the vaccines. >> i want to though who in biden's pentagon thought this was a good idea, who authorized it? the ones that are still there in guantanamo bay are al-qaeda's field generals. they are their enablers, their trainers, and they're the ones that refused to repent and that our intelligence shows are the most dangerous. so for all people to be in line before our seniors, it's just ridiculous and insulting, and i want those pentagon on a plane 100 miles north of florida and get them in the arms of people who have been waiting. we need answers. will: why this happened in the first praise and why somebody saw the light remains to be answered, but at least the right decision was made. we'll move on to another big story this morning. a shift in the republican party over the last several years. this, perhaps, illustrates it the most starkly. young republicans are planning a reoccupy wall street movement following this week where investors bid up gamestop. here's a billboard in times square right now, 54th and broadway. it shows you gamestop, that's the symbol, which means printing up money, let's send it to the moon, baby. now, why are republicans embracing a reoccupy wall street movement? here is the head of the new york young republicans. what we saw the last few days was absolutely despicable. we have the elite and the sub strata of everyone else who doesn't get to sit at the big boy table. it was coordinated. there needs to be repercussions, and it's fascinating, jed, to see those on the right now almost embracing the brand. because -- jedediah: yeah. and i think what's fascinating for me with this mar story is to see that the response has been somewhat unifying. i've been always looking for that issue where people on the left and right can come together. it's refreshing in some respects. yeah, republicans are often considered or at least labeled as allies of wall street, so it's interesting to see particularly these young republicans rebelling and coming out and not only advocating for these billboards, advocating against this hedge fund domination that seems to exist, but they're saying this is not what we stand for and kind of redefining not only the movement and the party, but the direction that everything's going. maybe it will be republicans that come out, and that would be quite telling. nigel farage was on earlier, and he was talking about how this particular rebellion that we're seeing right now with respect to gamestop and hedge funds could be the next brexit. listen to what he had to say. >> what brexit was about was about detached political elites in brussels and in london not listening to ordinary people. the donald trump phenomenon, very much the same thing. the beltway, businesses, big banks not in touch with reality. and so it is here. look, whether people were buying gamestop shares ordinary folk in the street, whether they're getting good value or not isn't the point. they have made a decision in what is supposed to be a free market, there there has got to be a congressional inquiry why did those brokers stop people from buying stock? i thought we lived in a free, open society? pete: yeah, we thought a lot of things in the past. that's in times square. there's other banners across the country that have gone up. and gamestop's stock season and that original meme, money printer go brr meaning printing more money. these gamestoppers, these folks on reddit on these chat rooms, they're pointing out the obvious thing, you can't print money forever. the system is fundamentally unsustainable. you with miss the point they're making because they don't write their argument in "the new york times" in an op-ed. no, they do it on reddit chat rooms through memes, but they point out the obvious that the system is, in fact, rigged against them and regular people. who would have thought gamestop. getting short sellers sideways would have been the way in which they did it, but we're all paying attention to it. will: because these moments become symbolic. here's where the limitation is, aoc and ted cruz both saw this issue in the same light, occupy wall street and the tea party movement saw the problem with bailout a decade ago, but seeing a problem and solving a problem two different things. i would imagine aoc and ted cruz might have different solutions. and when it comes to bailouts, occupy wall street wanted to embrace more government, communism, marxism openly, and the tea party said is less government is the solution here. do we embrace a marxist ideology as our solution to these problems? we all see the same problems, or do we revert -- pete: jed, real quick, there is a difference between this and occupy wall street. the leader said they will not be staying overnight, they do have jobs to go to, and they will be bathing. even though it's kind of like reoccupy wall street, it's not quite. [laughter] jedediah: yeah, i'm remembering that now, downtown manhattan. that was wild. that went on for a while. well there's another area where you're not going to see a lot of agreement on the left and the right, and that's when it comes to joe biden's climate executive orders, and they're been impacting -- they've been impacting businesses already around the country. lori cox is one of those business owners in midland, south dakota, and she weighed in on the impact of these particular executive orders. our whole world turned upside down with the stroke of a pen. we created a common room because there was a real sense of community within these workers and since january 20th the entire town became an inch instant ghost -- instant ghost town. and i think this is key, right? you elect someone and immediate wily already, i mean, president biden has been in office for a very short period of time, and we're already seeing the implication of these votes. so pay attention, i think there's a lot more to come with respect to particularly climate. pete: yeah. you kill the keystone xl pipeline, you've got workers that work on it, there's a residual impact. and then you tell them go make solar panels. it's obscene. will: absolutely. we talked to the texas agricultural commissioner about can you quickly transition all these energy workers into green jobs? does it happen like that? listen. >> the problem is biden says they should go make solar panels. eight out of the ten major manufacturers of solar panels, they're in china. doesn't help us any. this is the same talk, rehash from the obama/biden administration. anybody remember all the green job, they were going to make 5 million green jobs? remember what happened to solyndra? never turned the switch on that project, lost a half billion dollars of taxpayer money. we're going down the same road are, but we need to learn from our mistakes. will: really quickly, jed, i would say often things can be dismissed as talking points, oh, job-killing executive orders. what we see here for this motel owner literally the story of jobs being killed. that morning when they woke up, they were serving coffee, by 4 p.m. earned had checked occupant, and they had left town. that's government action in one day. jedediah: yeah. and even if you love solar panels, great, solar possibles, you can't just tell somebody who's been a welder, oh, you're just going to do solar panels. it doesn't work like that. it's a completely different job with, you have to train people, and maybe people don't want to leave the job they love overnight. there's a lot of factors that come into play with these decisions that affect people's lives x they forget that. but we don't forget it. coming up, will they or won't they go back to the classroom? joining us now is chicago parent and coach amy jacobson. thanks so much for being here this morning. so you watched this process play out, insanity. what does happen tomorrow in. >> well, we don't know. as a parent, you just wait by your e-mail, your iphone just waiting to see whether or not they're going to go back. we've been through this before, we did this 15 months ago when they had a strike, and so they're demanding pretty much the same things. but it's not about the kids getting back in school, this is not about chlorox wipe or ppe or social distancing, this is now about defunding police again, it's about having a one-year moratorium on rent and mortgages being paid in low income neighborhoods. so this has gotten beyond ridiculous -- pete: you're saying the negotiations include defunding the police and rent moratoriums, and you're a parent -- and your kids are a little bit older, this is all pre-k-8th grade, so they're not even qualified to go back yet. meanwhile, they can't find a way to open up the schools. >> well, they're scared. and what mayor lightfoot is doing is showing them the facts. her daughter goes to a catholic school, and they've been successful. we have 130 catholic, private and jewish schools here in the city, not one reported case of student to teacher transmission and no hospitalizations. so what they are doing, cps is replicating what those schools are doing, and it's safe to go back but the teachers, i think they enjoy teaching from home or in their second homes in florida or in hawaii or in michigan or wisconsin, wherever they have a second place. they enjoy that, and it's not about the kids. this is all about power and control, and they're making just ridiculous demands. every day is something else, something new besides housing issues or defunding police. they want to now determine, too, what the positivity rate should be in order to go back. so if the positivity rate gets up over 3%, they want to shut it all down and go remote. pete: what has been the impact on kids who don't know if they can go back to school, if they ever will. how's that play out? >> it's hard. we're going on day 321, i've got a sophomore and a junior, and there's been so many suicides. dylan buckner, he committed suicide, we've had 27 suicides in cook county, 6 in dupage where a girl threw herself in front of a train. we've had 8 covid deaths and of those, they all had severe co-morbidities. so you do the math. i mean, this isn't fair. this is child abuse. it has got to stop and what mayor lightfoot needs to do is lock them out. shut down their computers, their mails to send a message because if she doesn't put her foot down, peter, this is going to go on through next year. pete: so well said and for appropriate passion if for someone who's living it right now. amy jacobson, thank you so much for sharing your perspective. >> thank you. pete: thank you. still ahead, a congressman got both doses of the pfizer vaccine but somehow he still caught covid? dr. siegel, help me break this down. he got both shots, still got covid yet is asymptomatic. what do you think is happening here? >> well, jedediah, good morning. listen, he's 65 years old, and if he gets covid-19,s chances are that he would probably have some symptoms. so i think, and i can't prove this, he may be in the group that is not in the pfizer vaccine failure, but points out a different thing. even if you're fully protected, if you come in contact with someone with covid-19, you might get virus in your nose and test positive. now, what does that mean in terms of stopping spread to other people which is part two of a vaccine? part one, protect yourself. part two, protect those around you. out of israel, the data out of israel, over 200,000 people, looks like someone like congressman lynch, if he remains asymptomatic, may not only not get sick, but are have a decreased rate of spreading it to others. it's also possible he's not fully immunized nine days after getting the vaccine, i think it's more likely he caught the virus in his nose but won't get sick. it's a new way of thinking about it. jedediah: so remind us again when you get the shot, how long does it take to get immunity in what is that time frame? >> well, so after the second dose pfizer saying about seven days, but it's actually 7-14 days. expect time when buck -- and the time when you can be really sure is two weeks of after the second dose when you would get up to that9 5% -- 95% protection for sure. jedediah: all right, doctor. we have another topic. the biden administration, it's been reported they have lost track of 20 million vaccine doses. what happened here? >> well, first of all, this is a wake-up call that we need more federal oversight than we've seen of. we have about 50 million doses distributed, about 30 million have gotten into arm, about 5 million of those are second doses. so that's another way of i saying, jedediah, that some of this may still be in freezers waiting to be second does. i believe that the numbers are going to come up towards each other as time goes on. some of this is second dose differentiation, but i also believe that the federal government needs to know what happens to vaccines once they get to the states. where are they? what freezer are they in? who's going to get them in we need more federal oversight, and i think we're heading in that direction especially with the national vaccine centers. pharmacies are purpose better at tracking -- much better at tracking this. they have databases that the feds will plug into. the pharmacy involvement will help. jedediah: that's a great point. you have a new op-ed. it's titled deadly or not, the latest covid-19 mutations and you. marley the one coming out of the u.k. -- particularly one coming out of the u.k., some are saying it's more deadly, more contagious. what do you make of the mutations, and which ones should we be watching closely? [ ding ] you got paid! that means adding people to the payroll. hi mom. that means... best burger ever. intuit quickbooks helps small businesses be more successful with payments, payroll, banking and live bookkeeping. ♪ ♪ you're hurting me, but it's all right. ♪ will: welcome back to "fox & friends." let's take the pulse of the insanity across the country. let's bring in rob smith, the host of rob smibt is problematic podcast. rob, here's the insanity. of course at this point you've probably heard that san francisco is in the process of renaming, well, everything. erasing history, erasing school names including george washington, abraham lincoln, thomas jefferson, paul revere, dianne feinstein, francis scott key, all of these names being yanked off of schools. now why, rob, why? pete: first, let me just point this out, they're not going very deep on their research. >> one organization pushing back pointed out the following. the google sheet that contains the research referenced by the committee generally contains a single link tough a wikipedia page. so they're going to wikipedia, they're going to news articles, they're finding some link, and they're saying get rid of paul revere. >> well, first of all, we have to start with some fact it is. the san francisco public school system has about a 55% proficiency e rate in reading and a 50% proficiency rate in math which means basically have the kids can't read, and half the kids can't do math. and they're using all of this stuff to distract from the fact that they are just not educating children. this is indicative of a sort of lodge rick around the woke left which is that they have a certain idea of what they think these his editor call figures are. and instead of going to facts and actually books and learning, today go to articles written by other people on the woke left on the internet. is so it's actually really crazy. and like i said, when we talk about the public school system, we really need to be asking the question how this educating children, and this is not educating children. this is supposed to distract from the fact that they are not educating children. pete: so true. it's amazing how far we've come. i know it's san francisco, but often times it's a harbinger of other things to come. let's go to private schools and elite private schools on the other side of our country, here in new york, the dalton school, some of the anti-racist curriculum they're now putting into the school. parents are fighting back. here's a part of what parents said in pushing back on the agenda of the tallton school. every class this year has had an obsessive focus on race and identity, de-centering whiteness in art class, learning about white supremacy in health class, why wildly inappropriate. finish it seems insane that we have to say this, but let's restore the centrality of education to the schools' mission. the dalton school's gone fully woke, and the parents, they don't like it all that much. >> yeah. well, look, there used to be a period where people would actually send their children to private schools in order to get away from this stuff. parents at the tallton school are -- dalton school are paying $55,000 a year. there is this obsessive focus, and i read a little bit of the demand that people wanted. they wanted a focus on white supremacy and oppression. they wanted actually for when black staffers are hired for the cools to pay off their student debt. to like i said, this is not about educating children, this is about teaching the black children that they're victims and teaching the white children that they're oppressors. and this is just not the way to educate children, and it's really scary that this is going to the private school system as well. would any of you want to pay $55,000 a year to be told their kid is a white supremacist? probably not. jeff cred and the big part of this story, i worked in a school are similar to dalton in a nearby neighborhood. they run very liberal. the parent bodies tend to run very liberal. so the fact that parents are responding means that curriculum has gone so crazy that in new york city with a liberal parent body in large part, that is too much, rob. it's too much each for them. >> yeah. and, jed, the whole thing about it is as well that some of these parents are so afraid to speak up that they won't even put their names on it. this letter was, i believe, released anonymously because they're so afraid of the pushback they would get, and that's actually really scary. like i said, this should always be about the education of children. will: it always should. unfortunately, it really is -- it rarely is, rob. thanks, rob. pete: thanks, rob. jedediah: thanks. will: here we go. now we've got to go back to insanity. her cell phone. that's it. they have given incriminating statements to police, there was video surveillance, but nothing can bring mommy back. what are they looking at? the reality is under the law not the death penalty and not life without parole. will: you know, nancy, that reminds me of that case here in new york city where the columbia student was killed by young perpetrators as well, seemingly no motive. and you have another one, this louisiana walmart if stabbing. again, multiple teenagers live streamed. in fact, let's take a quick look at this crime from your special -- >> brace yourself. will: okay. >> with girls who kill, envy is a strong motivator. you know, you're popular, you're beautiful, you're smart. you're not all that, we're going to prove you're not all that. we have power over you, and not only do we have power over you, or we're going to make you look terrible in front of the entire world, we're going to expose your suffering. so they never thought that they would get caught. will: nancy, i just mentioned no seeming motive, but is there a motive for these types of things that went on in louisiana? >> well, i have learned very often, and i have prosecuted many, many juveniles including as young as 14 tried as adults for murder. did i like it? the no. did i do it? yes, because it was my duty. you find in female, especially teen female killers, a completely different psychopathy. the victim was celebrating her 15th birthday at the theater, she came over to walmart after. these girls, 13, 12 and 14, get new yorks down from the display -- knives down from the display, chase her down -- get ready, they live streamed it, facebook live, they posted about it. they showed no remorse. they said, hey, she's leaking. bleeding. the little girl bled out. they chased her through walmart and stabbedded her dead in the aisles. and they posted it! it's a whole level of psychopathy i have never seen. there's all the tate's evidence right there. they're looking at life for a juvenile. will: it doesn't make any sense at all. yous also -- >> doesn't have to. will: and maybe that's what we all have to understand. we're not dealing in the realm of logic and rationality anyway. by the way, you also focused on the indiana family massacre that many people have heard about, this terrible thing, multiple family members killed. it's all, by the way, in crime stories with nancys grace, fox nation -- with nancy grace. original content. you've got to go to foxnation.com and sign up today. nancy, thanks for laying out what we might see on your special tonight. thank you. >> thank you, friend. will: take care. coming up, could man's best friend be the future of tracking covid? [laughter] jedediah: what i was reading is basically not only can they smell the virus in some way, but they smell the changes that your body goes through as it reacts to the virus. and you'll know this. like, when i was pregnant, my dog knew something was going on. if you have a cold, you may notice your pet sniffs around you with. they sense these changes in chemicals that in your body as they react to viruses, bacteria and what not. so i think that's a little bit of what's happening. pete: i also have have a card in front of me which says all detector dogs are train thed to the odor. covid has some particular odor that can be identified. will: that's what i was going to say. and then the question is how do you distinguish it -- i think you're absolutely right, jedediah, dogs can sense changes in humans not just physically, but emotionally as well, obviously. how does a dog get trained to distinguish covid from the common if cold or whatever else going on? jedediah: i'm getting it has that particular -- but, guys, think about the impact of that. not only in terms of the ability to disinfect surfaces which i think is the primary reason this is helpful, but also think about going into an arena, a stadium, and you have dogs there that can sense who has -- now,ing i don't know how this would work though if you were asymptomatic. there's a lot that they need to figure out, but i think it's a testament to how these animals could be used. pete: this is an exercise in trying to say what the guest is going to say through pure speculation. we did the best we could. jedediah: dogs are amazing. pete: it is interesting, what do you do once you detect someone in line with covid? will: it's time the go. jedediah: yeah. will: i cannot do that. i have buddies who can speak backwards, say it in reverse. jedediah: can't do either of those things. can't help you guys out. will: forwards right now. here's one of the big topics of the day, and it's education. negotiations going on in chicago to try to get students back in school. there's been over 60 meet education between the teachers union and the chicago public school district to try to get students back in the classroom. a strike is looming ahead of tomorrow morning. but there still isn't a plan in place. and this is after joe biden has vowed to reopen schools nationwide. we spoke a little earlier to a chicago public school parent about the toll this is taking on everyone. listen. >> harold. i mean, i've got a sophomore and a junior, and it was supposed to be 14 days, and now we're going on day 321. we're trying to keep it together, and there's been so many suicides. we have a total of about 40 suicides, but yet we've had 8 covid deaths. and of those 8 covid deaths, they all had severe co-morbidities. you do the math. this isn't fair. this is child abuse, and it has got to stop. and what mayor lightfoot needs to do tomorrow is shut down their computers, she can do it, shut down their mails, just sented a message. because if she doesn't send a message tomorrow the, peter, this is going to go on until next year. jedediah: yeah. and the teachers are going to strike on monday. if they do, in fact, strike, those lawsuits from parents are going to roll out. i think it's really important that we've also been highlighted and that mom highlighted so beautifully the mental health impacts on people, the suicide rates, the depression, the anxiety the students have had to deal with because they're working remotely. also remember disadvantaged students have been suffering a lot. they don't have access to a lot of the technology that you need to work remotely, so not being in a classroom has been really painful. it's just been horrible. i'm ooh curious what the consequences will be. mayor lightfoot has said there's going to be consequences for teachers who don't show up. pete: apparently, they opened the schools in chicago for some of the special you would kids, teachers that did not show up, they were cut out of their mail accounts, is so it sounds like they have some levers that they could use, kind of like the ronald reagan air traffic controller thing. but the negotiations are so off the rails. the 60 meetings that have happened so far, the teachers unions are demanding defund the police and moratoriums on rent payments. they say it's about safety, but then you've got parents whose kids are not within in school for a year, she's got a junior and a senior. she teaches volleyball. he said they can't even get kindergartners-eighth grade, to show up for school. and this is a moment where we'll find out whether one democrat politician has the courage to stand up to the mobs of unions that doesn't care about the kids. will: do you remember yesterday we played a sound bite from white house press secretary jen psaki where she said, what, republicans don't want to open schools now? that was because the white house wants to attach the covid-19 stimulus relief bill. in other words, who's holding education hostage? who's interested in reopening schoolings? let me give you just one more example of that. here's bernie sanders laying out what he think it's going to take to get schools to reopen. >> we do not have 60 votes from republicans to address the catastrophes that are ime pacting working families today. so the only way that we are going to deal effect ily with the -- effectively with the pandemic, increase vaccine production, the only way we're going to raise the minimum wage to a living wage to people are not working for starvation wages, the only way we're going to open up our schools in a way that is safe, the only way that we're going to put people back to work in restaurants and protect small businesses, the only way we're going to do that is reconciliation. will: the only way we're going to open up schools, jedediah, the only way we're going to raise the minimum wage is through reconciliation which is the budget process, the legislation process to reconcile the budget. in other words, the only way we're going to get this done is by tying it all together and pushing it through this one-party mechanism. jedediah: yeah. never let an opportunity go to waste to pack it all in, and maybe with any luck, people won't read the bill, and there'll be something stuck in there all the way to the bottom, and we'll roll it back. that's essentially what he's saying, not acknowledging so many of these families have suffered as a result of schools not opening this whole time. you had jobs, you had, you know, two income households become one income households, how do you think that affects children, their ability in talking about wages, the way that you empower things, empower schools and businesses to be reopened safely, yes, these businesses have, you know, their best intentions at heart. they want people to trust them. all of that has been blocked for so long, and now suddenly some bill's going to come through and hand people x amount of money and that's going to fix everything? that's not how it works. pete: it's extortion, is what it is. if you want to open the schools and the businesses, open them up. you're telling me you have to pass a bunch of -- trillions of dollars of government spending is that we can do something we can already do? it's exactly how washington works. they use that crisis, they ram it down your throat, and reconciliation, budget process, all they need is 51 votes. they know that, they can't get past the 60-vote mark in the senate, so they use a procedure to try to get to that number. representative walz was on our program earlier, we asked him about this. here was his take. >> the democrats are always pounding the table about support the science. there is no science that says school openings are a problem. kids have a 99.98% chance of being fine. even if they then get the virus. of finish this is finish and the thing that most upsets me with this coming from bernie sanders is that this is class warfare in the sense that if you're a white collar worker, you can stay home when your kids are locked at home going to school. if you're a truck driver, construction worker, waitress, you can't. this is no reason these schools can't be open route now. and to -- right now. and to see the democrats using that as an excuse to push their progressive policies is shameful. pete: and they use every excuse they can. amy jacobson, that chicago public school parent, pointed out the fact that the teachers unions are demanding a ridiculously low threshold of covid infections. so they're rigging the science in a way that any covid case forces the chicago schools to close down yet again. will: and joe biden said something about redoing ventilation systems in schools to get teachers back in. how long would that take? how many hurdles? if. jedediah: forever. will: new york city council plans to introduce a police reform package that would shrink the footprint in the city and increase accountability. it would also give the council the power to deny the mayor's choices for commissioner. governor andrew cuomo says reform plans must be submitted by april 1st or risk losing state funding. and the nfl season isn't even over, but there's already been a blockbuster off-season style trade. the detroit lions have anticipated matthew stafford to the los angeles rams for quarterback jared golf and several draft picks -- jared goff. the deal won't be official until march. stafford will leave as detroit's all-time leader in all major passing categories. pete: who got the best part of the deal? >> no, no. president trump set conditions for departure on 1, may, and those conditions aren't being met. the biden administration is acknowledging the same thing that people in the trump administration did. the taliban, number one, have not disowned and separated themselves from the al-qaeda. and, number two, as opposed to decreasing the violence and ultimately going to a ceasefire, what have they done? they've increased the violence against the afghan national security forces. that's not likely someone who's looking for a peace agreement in power sharing as an end of a conflict. they're looking for additional leverage. and the recent report that came out from the treasury department that said, actually, the threat of al-qaeda is increasing because of the taliban's association with them inside of afghanistan, that report was written by the trump administration's treasury department, published under the biden administration. but all the investigator work was done -- investigative work was done prior. pete: you must have been reading my mind, here's a portion or what the treasury said. as of 2020, al-qaeda is gaining strength in afghanistan while continuing to operate under the taliban's protection. al-qaeda capitalizes on its relationship through its network of mentors and advisers embedded with the taliban providing advice, guidance and financial support. general, why should we expect any of this to change? when, as you said, a lot of it has to do with leverage? >> yeah. well, i think, you know, going back to the original premise that you mentioned, i mean, we know the taliban well. this is the same organization that in 2001 was running afghanistan and protecting the al-qaeda, and president george bush offered them a deal. separate yourself from al-qaeda, disown them x we will not attack you, we will only attack the al-qaeda. they choose to protect the al-qaeda. they put their regime at are risk and thousands of fighters which they lost as well, and they're been involved in -- they've been involved in a 20 the-year conflict as a result of it. that's how much they care about their brothers, thal a al qaeda. we have got to hold their feet to the fire here or the american people are going to be threatened by the al-qaeda i newing its capability -- renewing its capability inside afghanistan. that's what our concern is here: the security of the american people is of the uppermost concern. pete: that's true, general, but there are so many threats around the globe, as you know. all these big, geopolitical issues. at what point do we say -- we always talk about conditions on the ground. at what point is the condition on the ground that we'll never meet the condition on the ground? we can't stay in perpetuity, can we have a strategy that recognizes that as well? >> yeah, i think three presidents have. we only have four places where we're concerned about radical islam, where we're willing to put american soldiers' lives at risk. one is in syria, the other is iraq, the other is yemen and eastern africa. that's it. in addition to that, it's afghanistan. the other 40-50 radical's lammic movements that are around the world threatening other people, we are not involved in. we are made that strategic decision. we're only going to be involved in those threats where the radical islamist group has aspirations to attack america and the security of the american people are at racing. i think that's a -- at risk. i think that's a pretty good decision. and the amount of forces involved are very modst. pete: well said. jen jack keane -- general jack keen, we appreciate it. all right, coming up, saturday night live returning to tv last night poking fun at everything and everyone in 2021 except president biden. are we really surprised? >> well, first, as it relates to the keystone pipeline, our office is assessing the the exposure that we have to the state portfolio to the pipeline, in other words, trying to pause the action of this dangerous liberal-progressive idea. as it relates to the federal leasing of oil and gas production, thankfully, or texas not controlled by the feds. but if you look at blue states like new mexico, half of their production potentially will be frozen, and they're looking at a billion dollar hit to their upcoming budget because of this action alone, at the toke of a pen. so -- stroke of a pen. so it's a very dangerous precedent that's being set by the president, and the governor rightfully is standing up for an important industry for our state. will: i think the governor gave that press conference in the midland/odessa area. we've talked to people from south dakota, other areas, you mentioned new mexico where job losses could be immediate when it comes to these executive the orders. what is texas looking at when it comes to job losses from the energy sector? >> well, the pandemic already had an impact. if you look at the beginning of the pandemic when oil was priced negatively, it certainly had its impact, but if there's a resilient industry, it's the oil and gas industry. in '09 it was actually the oil and gas industry that created one out of every three new jobs nationally just in oil-producing states like ours. of so for the president to talk about job creation and to go against the wishes of even the union leaders and several democrats in the congress that are in oil-producing states to. present these order -- implement these orders is, again, it's a hostile takeover of an industry that's the life blood for the nation's economy. of. will: absolutely. make climate consideration an essential element on foreign policy and national security, and here we go, this is what you just talked about, pauses new oil and gas leases on public lands, federal lands, offshore waters. directs federal agencies to eliminate toes fill fuels -- toes fill fuel subsidies by 2030, also establishes a civilian climate corpses. do you think -- corps. do you think texas can successfully push back on these executive orders? >> absolutely. absolutely. we've done it in the past. is so when i was firsting elected, i got elected in the middle of the obama administration. we successfully in the courthouse won a bid to abolish hydraulic fracturing in texas at the city level. we've also fought back on the endangered species act and other measures that were undertaken by the left not only in state government, but federal government. so historically, if you look at, you know, texas, we've been able to maintain our state lands since the republic days of 1836, so i'm confident. but even people like obama, you know, even though they were against the keystone pipeline, they didn't sign an executive order shutting down an important infrastructure piece in a partnership with canada and making sure we can be energy secure. i would rather we create american jobs and leverage american resources rather than relying upon the middle east and other sources of foreign energy. will: right. jobs from canada down to the gulf coast affected with the stroke of a pen. george p. bush, texas land commissioner, thanks for your time this morning. >> good to be with you. will: saturday night live back on the air for the first time since joe biden took office, and suddenly the presidency's not that funny. >> here to help us answer that question is the new majority holder of gamestop. would you say the stock market still works? this is a slippery slope. are people going to say, well, we're not going to sell you a car, republicans? we're not going to issue you a mortgage, conservatives in -- conservatives in how far does this go. and you said what will republicans do?
