Overdier resigned from the council at the end of April because he and his wife were moving out of state.
On May 17, the council unanimously agreed to appoint former Councilman Chatham Morgan to temporarily fill the council seat vacancy. Morgan will be sworn in to office June 7 and serve until the voter-elected councilman is sworn in Aug. 2.
Bagby, Green and Wagner were among the 12 candidates who had sought the appointed position that Morgan ended up filling.
On the application form for the appointed council position, each candidate had provided his biographical information and answers to various questions, such as those that asked what qualifies him to serve on the council, what he considers to be the council’s major purpose and what he would like to see the council accomplish.
