DESTIN  Jim Bagby, who is well-known in the Destin area and local politics, won the city’s special election on Tuesday and will soon take a seat on the City Council. Bagby received a little more than 50% of the vote (690 votes) to defeat challenger Bobby Wagner, who received almost 41% (557 votes), and third-place finisher John Green (123 votes), according to unofficial results from the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office. More than 1,300 ballots, including mail-in ballots, were cast in the nonpartisan election, which had an 11.8% voter turnout. Bagby will be sworn in to office on Aug. 2 and serve on the council until Nov. 21, 2022, which marks the end of the four-year term of former Councilman Skip Overdier.
