Dengue: JSR civic bodies start preparations to combat dengue | Ranchi News

Civic bodies in Steel City are gearing up to combat dengue this year after Jharkhand witnessed nearly 1,500 deaths and hospitals and blood banks witnessed intense platelet demands last year. The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) will form an enforcement team to run a check in colonies and residential areas to scour for stagnant water that may pose a risk. Awareness drives and monitoring apart from cleaning activities shall begin across the city. Tata Steel UISL has already floated an awareness campaign as part of the World Dengue Day observed on June 15. East Singhbhum district civil surgeon Dr Jujhar Majhi mentioned the common problem of non-availability of hospital beds and platelets during dengue outbreaks. The preparations for combating dengue are yet to start in the district. MGM Medical College and Hospital faced challenges in catering to patients in need of platelets last year due to operational issues with the blood separation machine.
