the week in many parts of the uk. snow brought disruption for some, although it did bring some beautiful scenes as well. that was how it looked for a weather watcher in east dunbartonshire. through tonight, ice could be a hazard for a time, but it will turn milder and also wetter through the second half of the night. under clear skies, temperatures plummeting. ice from southern scotland into northern england and spots further south as well. but then we see cloud bringing rain in from the west, briefly a spell of snow as that bumps into the cold air, but it will tend to turn back to rain as temperatures climb. by the end of the night, belfast, cardiff, plymouth 8—10 degrees. so, a much milder start to saturday morning, but with cloud and outbreaks of rain. this frontal system bringing a pretty unsettled day of weather actually, with some heavy bursts of rain, some brisk winds. sandwiched, though, between these two weather fronts, we have this wedge of milder air. so, a different feel to things for saturday morning with cloud with outbreaks of heavy rain pushing eastwards. the rain tending to organise itself into bands, and this last band of rain here pushing eastwards is particularly likely to give some really intense downpours with some thunder and lightning and some squally, gusty winds which could easily gust up to 140—50 mph or more in the most exposed spots. the rain will then clear to leave sunshine and showers. some of the showers will turn wintry as temperatures drop away again, 5—10 degrees around 3pm in the afternoon. a fairly chilly night on saturday night with some wintry showers around, particularly out towards the west. but as we get into sunday, you do have to squint at the map to see it, but there is a little bump in the isobars here, a
