app in the cleveland browns had to be the most disappointing so far. and 0si along with jason bell will be discussing all the key talking points as the nfl season reaches the final round of the regular season on the nfl show which is on bbc one at midnight tomorrow. now finally, zoe smith from bournemouth only took up surfing in september, but has just finished fifth in a world championship in california. not only that, the sport is helping zoe to rebuild her life after she lost her leg in a car accident. she's been speaking to lewis coombes. something magical about surfing, the connection with the ocean and the city and also the feeling of speed energy in your body and how they relate, it's amazing. surfing is helping zoe to refind her identiy. just over six years ago, she was left to wonder if she'd ever walk again, let alone ride a wave. i was iwas ina i was in a car accident. i was a passenger and my feet on the dashboard when the impact came and the airbag detonated in my leg was broken relate beyond repair. so i was at that time provide disabled by a lot of different injuries that occurred. a lot of different in'uries that occurred. ., , ., ~ ~ ., ., occurred. a loss of identity if you like. and there is a process which you have to go through, and that is sort of a lot of it, look inside yourself and work out what it is that you want. i did not want to be somebody that the limb lost defined them. so, during lockdown, zoe decided to grab a surfboard. and just a few months later, was competeing against the best para surfers in the world in california. having placed fifth in her category, zoe helped england finsh seventh overall. i look at my leg as an opportunity for some i would not be competing in a world championships able—bodied surfing just yet so i'm very lucky in that sense. i had already sort of achieve what i wanted to which is to get out there and stand in the surfboard as an amputee and i'm proud of what i've achieved and i think that's important to recognise. i'm proud of the fact that i am where i am it's been a difficult road, but i've got there. and she should be proud of, so it was a great story to end sports day. a busy weekend of us for an river you can follow it all right across the bbc this evening and we know that five level have commentary as the fa makeup occurred this weekend and swindon town hosting the leaders mentors or city so you can follow that from 7pm and the ashes as well on test match special a little later and the african nations, all happening on bbc this weekend but for me and the sports day team, have a lovely friday evening, bye—bye. good evening. it was a pretty wintry end to the week in many parts of the uk. snow brought disruption for some, although it did bring some beautiful scenes as well. that was how it looked for a weather watcher in east dunbartonshire. through tonight, ice could be a hazard for a time, but it will turn milder and also wetter through the second half of the night. under clear skies, temperatures plummeting. ice from southern scotland into northern england and spots further south as well. but then we see cloud bringing rain in from the west, briefly a spell of snow as that bumps into the cold air, but it will tend to turn back to rain as temperatures climb. by the end of the night, belfast, cardiff, plymouth 8—10 degrees. so, a much milder start to saturday morning, but with cloud and outbreaks of rain. this frontal system bringing a pretty unsettled day of weather actually, with some heavy bursts of rain, some brisk winds. sandwiched, though, between these two weather fronts, we have this wedge of milder air. so, a different feel to things for saturday morning with cloud with outbreaks of heavy rain pushing eastwards. the rain tending to organise itself into bands, and this last band of rain here pushing eastwards is particularly likely to give some really intense downpours with some thunder and lightning and some squally, gusty winds which could easily gust up to 40—50 mph or more in the most exposed spots. the rain will then clear to leave sunshine and showers. some of the showers will turn wintry as temperatures drop away again, 5—10 degrees around 3pm in the afternoon. a fairly chilly night on saturday night with some wintry showers around, particularly out towards the west. but as we get into sunday, you do have to squint at the map to see it, but there is a little bump in the isobars here, a little ridge of high pressurejust trying to build its way in. it won't be able to kill off the shower activity completely, i suspect. there will still be some, but not too many. there should be a decent amount of dry weather and some spells of sunshine. temperatures between 4—10 , and then behind me here comes our next weather system, bringing cloud and rain from the west. but the story really for next week is for things to settle down. high pressure building its way up from the south, establishing itself quite strongly across the southern half of the uk particularly. so, we will see a lot of dry weather, some spells of sunshine. chance for some rain at times in the north where it will be windy, but it's going to feel milder for all of us. that's it, i'll be back with the news at ten. are the latest headlines in the uk this is bbc news — these and around the world. the giant of
