Officials with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services — the umbrella agency that oversees government-funded shelters for unaccompanied children— are assessing vacant property at Moffett to see if its facilities could be used as temporary shelters amid an influx of children and families crossing the border, NASA officials told The Chronicle last week.
