SIU arrests target killer

KARACHI: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Karachi Sunday claimed to have arrested a target killer involved in over 10 target killings and recovered a pistol from his possession.
According to SSP SIU Capt. (R) Haider Raza, arrested accused identified as Syed Danish Ali, affiliated with MQM (London) confessed his involvement in 10 target killings. Accused was arrested from Jamshed Quarter area and a 30 bore pistol with rounds was recovered from his possession.
3 ‘extortionists’ arrested

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed on Sunday to have arrested three extortionists from Liaquatabad area of the city.
According to SIU SP Haider Raza, the suspects came to the house of Afzal Seth, a meat merchant and real estate investor and demanded Rs5 million in extortion money. They opened aerial fire to intimidate the family, said the SP, adding that the incident’s video went viral on social media and a case was lodged at Liaquatabad Police Station.
The SIU along with the Central Investigation Agency’s Karachi branch managed to trace the suspects and found weapons in their possession, said the SP, adding that a weapons case was subsequently lodged against the trio at the SIU Police Station. The suspects, Wasim Danish, Naveed Billa, and Suleman Makhi, and have confessed to committing several robberies.
KARACHI: The Special Investigation Unit on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a suspected militant and described him as a “motivated bomber”.
SIU SSP Haider Raza said acting on a tip-off police arrested Nazeerullah from Manghopir Road and recovered explosives and an unlicensed pistol from him.
During the course of interrogation, he disclosed that his father, Abdullah Khan, had close affiliation with Taliban ‘commander’ Ehsanullah Ehsan and on the instructions of his father he joined Ehsan who had motivated him to carry out bomb attacks against security forces and also provided him a motorcycle to use in attacks.
The Taliban ‘commander’ also motivated another would-be suicide bomber, Junaid, to carry out attacks.
