Robbers break open 42 bank lockers in Karachi

KARACHI: A day after a group of robbers broke open three-and-a-half dozen lockers at a branch of a private bank in the Sakhi Hassan neighbourhood of Karachi during an eight-hour-long heist, police registered an FIR against unidentified suspects on Monday.
The case was registered on the complaint of the bank’s manager, Danish, at the Taimuria police station. The complainant said he received information of the robbery at 6am on Sunday.He said he found the lockers open when he reached the bank and also found the security guard, Inam, bound with a rope. The guard told the manager that he had returned to the bank at 9:30pm on Saturday after his dinner.

Four robbers broke into a bank near Sakhi Hasan Chowrangi in North Nazimabad, Karachi on Saturday and looted cash worth millions of rupees, jewellery, prize bonds and other valuables.
The initial investigation has revealed that the robbers had taken the bank s security guard, Inam, hostage when he returned to duty at around 9pm after having dinner with his friend. They tied Inam to a chair and managed to break and loot 34 lockers at the bank during the eight-hour long robbery.
After a visit to the crime scene, Crime Investigation Department SSP Haider Raza told media persons that it seemed that the robbery had been planned and the perpetrators were aware that repair work was in progress at the bank in question. They also knew that only one security guard was deputed at the bank and he routinely took a break to have dinner, said the SSP.

KARACHI: Armed robbers broke open over 30 lockers of a private bank in North Nazimabad and walked off with cash and jewellery in the small hours of Sunday, officials said.
They said that the robbers held a security guard at gunpoint and stayed inside the bank for around eight hours.
According to the Taimuria police, four armed men looted cash and expensive items from the lockers of a UBL branch near Sakhi Hassan.
Area SHO Abid Shah said the robbers barged into the branch on Saturday night at around 9pm when a private security guard returned to the bank after having dinner. He said that the robbers held him at gunpoint, entered the bank and broke open the lockers with the help of gas cutters till 5am on Sunday.

Three pickpockets who robbed bus passengers for years held

Personnel of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Karachi on Saturday announced the arrests of three pickpockets who were allegedly involved in robbing citizens in public transport.
SIU chief Haider Raza said that according to information shared by a law enforcement agency, a gang of three pickpockets had been operating in different parts of the city for several years and depriving passengers of their cash, mobile phones and other valuables. They were also allegedly involved in drug peddling and robberies.
The pickpockets carried weapons and explosives while committing the crime.
