The Baker-Polito Administration today announced a new preregistration signup tool will be available for the state’s seven mass vaccination sites starting Friday, March 12. The new system will make it easier to request and book an appointment at a mass vaccination site at a nearby location when they are eligible. More sites will be added to the preregistration system in the coming weeks. When preregistration launches on Friday, it will replace the current booking platforms for mass vaccination sites for online booking. The COVID-19 Vaccine Scheduling Resource Line will be available to help residents without internet access or with difficulty using the internet with the preregistration process.
Brien Center To Share in $4.9 Million Grant
The Baker-Polito Administration today announced $4.9 million in grants awarded to six agencies, including hospitals and treatment and behavioral health centers, for the creation of evidence-based and data-driven co-occurring substance use disorder/mental health response teams embedded in high schools in ten communities to offer intervention and treatment services, and provide alternatives to school suspension for substance use. The Brien Center, here in the Berkshires, is among the recipients.
According to a press release from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the six agencies were selected for grant funding based on their ability to provide access to these crucial services, both in school and in the community, as well as virtually due to instances of remote and hybrid learning.
Big E remains ‘in the running’ as site for regional vaccine collaborative, but not chosen in state’s latest round

WEST SPRINGFIELD Massachusetts announced Wednesday 11 new collaborative regional COVID-19 vaccination sites, but a proposed three-community site at the Big E wasn’t one of them.
“But we are in the running if supply (of doses) increases,” West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt said following Gov. Charlie Baker’s announcement. “If we just had more doses, I think everybody would be happy. But I guess that goes for everyone across the country.”
The Big E clinic was proposed by Westfield, West Springfield, Agawam and Southwick because the state has pulled back from supplying doses to smaller clinics run by local health departments.
