investigators then discovered that woman inside of her home. police tell us that it appears she had been strangled. reporter: 50-year-old douglas dietz stood with his hands behind his back while he was arraigned on the charges that he murdered his estranged wife. sable police said early salem police said he turned himself in and of and confessed to strangling the woman. there were actions that precipitated him strangling her. whether or not he could control himself reporter: according to court documents, he was having dinner when the two got into a fight after an unknown man called the house. steve told police that she grabbed his mouth and he lashed was motionless. they rushed her to the hospital but it was too late. circumstances difficult for her cousin to bear. a domestic violence situation, and my husband my cousin is not here no more. reporter: they said that his wife had filed for divorce and stated that he had tried to kill her before and feared that he w
