Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of District Tuberculosis Forum to review the progress of various indicators under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in the district.
On the occasion, it was informed that there are two Culture Machines CBNAAT and TRUENAT available in the district one at SDH Kupwara and another at DH Handwara for diagnosing of TB patients. It was also informed that the district has applied for Sub elimination of TB certification for the year 2021 and the District Tuberculosis Centre Kupwara has been performing bidirectional Covid-TB screening. It was informed in the meeting that 2692 beneficiaries have been approved for construction of their own houses under PMAY-HFA (U) scheme in the district and re-verification of 204 beneficiaries have been completed so far.
On the occasion, the DC stressed upon the concerned members to expedite the process of re-verification to ensure completion of the targets well in time.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue; JD Planning, DGM JK Housing Board, Presidents of Municipal Committees of Kupwara, Handwara, Langate; Executive Officers and other concerned attended the meeting.

The Pakistani troops on Tuesday violated ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmirâs Nowgam sector of Handwara area. The Indian Army has also retaliated strongly.Â
On Monday, intermittent exchange of fire had taken place between Indian army personnel and Pakistani troops in the Uri sector along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, forcing the authorities to shutdown schools in the affected areas. An army official had informed there were no fresh casualties on the Indian side in the exchange of fire.
2 Oxygen Generation Plants Made Functional in North Kashmir
SRINAGAR: To meet any possible eventuality amid the ongoing onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir Saturday made two oxygen plants, each with 1000 LPM capacity, functional in north-Kashmir.
The oxygen plants were made functional at SDH Kupwara and Sopore, during an extensive tour by Director Health Services Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmad on the directions of Financial Commissioner Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, Atal Dullo, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Imam-ud-Din (at SDH Kupwara).
Both the plants have been made fully functional and serve as big relief for the inhabitants of north Kashmir amidst Covid crisis, reads a Directorate statement. Patients indicated for high flow oxygen will be treated at their door steps while as only critical patients shall be referred to tertiary care, it says.
