Snapshots Social restaurant to open by mid-July in Downtown Newark Newark Advocate NEWARK - Works Managing Director Janice LoRaso has announced a new development for Newark foodie locals: a restaurant collaboration with the owner of Snapshots Lounge in Granville, Lucas Atwood.  The Works new restaurant called Snapshots Social will be located in Downtown Newark on 50 S. 2nd Street. Snapshots Social will offer breakfast, brunch, and lunch with specially curated menu items by Lindsay Atwood, a local dietician and health food enthusiast. Snapshots Social is currently set to open by mid-July 2021. Their tentative hours are planned for 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with occasional pop-up dinner times.

High St. in the Short North. The high-end restaurant and lounge, owned by Peerless Management Group, combines a modern steakhouse with an entertainment venue, including a DJ and a $121 round of 10 sake bombs for the table. The food menu features charbroiled oysters, sushi bowls, seafood entrees, pastas and steaks that range from $42-$74.   Hot Chicken Takeover is about to get some serious competition.  Dave’s Hot Chicken, which originated as a pop-up in an East Hollywood parking lot, just signed a franchising agreement to open 28 locations in Ohio and Indiana. According to 

Marcia Downes, Executive Director of the Works, retiring in November

Newark Advocate NEWARK  Marcia Downes, executive director of The Works, will end 20 years operating the Ohio center for history, art and technology when she retires in November. Downes became director of what was called Knowledgeworks in 2001, helping founder Howard LeFevre develop a museum and educational center explaining local history and industry to new generations. It started in 1996 as The Institute of Industrial Technology in the former Sheidler Machine Works on the corner of First and Sheidler streets. LeFevre, given the tribute Man of the Century at Newark s bicentennial celebration in 2002, bought the building to save it from the wrecking ball. LeFevre died in 2008 at the age of 101.

Meanwhile, here s a sampling of events taking place in person or virtually to recognize Ireland s heritage and culture. Family events • St. Patrick s Day reverse parade The City of Dublin will host the annual St. Patrick s Day Parade from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Darree Fields, 6259 Cosgray Rd. But with social-distancing guidelines in effect, it won t be your typical parade.  The parade s Irish dancers, floats and other participant groups will be stationary as spectators pass through the free event from their cars.
