ARLINGTON Neal Brown has never been much for rankings in his days. Just look at what he did before arriving in Morgantown, W.V.
Prior to his arrival at Troy, the Trojans had finished above .500 since 2010. After starting things off with a 4-6 record, Brown led the Sun Belt club to three double-digit win seasons, including a conference title in 2017.
Year one with West Virginia was one to regroup. A five-win season was promising. In a COVID campaign, the Mountaineers picked up six wins and a victory over Army in the Liberty Bowl.

West Virginia defensive lineman Darius Stills didn’t hear his name called in the 2021 NFL Draft, but his shot at NFL glory isn’t over. The elder Stills brother will sign a UDFA deal with the Las Vegas Raiders according to younger brother Dante Stills on an Instagram Live video this evening and will have the opportunity to prove he belongs in the league.
Stills was a two year starter for the Mountaineers and saw significant playing time as a backup during his true freshman and sophomore seasons. The Fairmont, WV native recorded 84 total tackles (48 solo) and tallied up 11.5 sacks over his career in Morgantown.
Copied!
We were working on a run down of Gary Kubiak s best moments as a Texan and it was easy to come up with them. But I have a few of my own.
It s the first playoff game in team history. The stadium is in a frenzy as the team is about to be introduced. Bum Phillips walks out of the tunnel and every hair on the back of every neck is standing up. I still get chills thinking about it.
Here s Kubiak, the former Luv Ya Blue era ball boy, coaching the hometown team in the post season, with the legendary coach leading the team out. There was no way the Texans would lose that day.

MORGANTOWN â It was a simpler time â television was still a new medium, newspapers king of the news and a time when a 10-year-old kid would spend his Saturday afternoon at the movie theater for a quarter.
The year was 1951, a year that lives strongly in this old manâs memory for it was the year that Bobby Thomson of the New York Giants hit his âShot Heard Round the World,â making such an impression that the first-born to the now old man was named Robert Thomson.
