A day after a violent tornado swept through St. Landry Parish a man killed during the storm is being remembered by his loved ones.
The EF3 tornado is being blamed for the death of Jose Higareda .
Not much is left of Higareda s home that was destroyed by the tornado on early Saturday morning. KATC spoke with his cousin, Juan Enriquez, who is remembering Higareda as a kind man and a hard worker.

St. Landry Parish Government officials are asking residents to help the parish identify damage caused by the severe weather and tornado on April 9 and 10.
Residents who had a home or business damaged due to this weekend s severe weather or the Plametto tornado are asked to complete an online Damage Assessment Form at damage.la.gov.
Officials say the information not only documents the impact of the storm on individuals, families, and businesses; it also assists the parish in qualifying for future federal funding.
St. Landry Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested
An alert off-duty sheriff s deputy is credited with helping Opelousas police catch an attempted murder suspect.
Desmond Richard was arrested over the weekend on attempted second-degree murder and gun charges. As of Monday, he remains in jail.
Police Chief Martin McLendon says the off-duty deputy spotted Richard and called police to tell them of Richard s location. Police found the car Richard was driving, pulled him over, and arrested him. Police say they found a stolen gun in Richard s possession while executing the arrest.
