Leonville Elementary will have a delayed start to the school day on Wednesday, March 3.
Entergy has a planned outage for the area from 7 a.m. - 8 a.m., school officials say.
The school will begin taking students at 8 a.m. and buses will run 30-45 minutes later. Dismissal will be at its regular time.
The change does not affect the scheduled cafeteria menu.

OPELOUSAS, La. â The person at the center of allegations of animal abuse in St. Landry Parish is not currently facing any charges.
The St. Landry Sheriff Office and the parishâs animal control are waiting until all small dogs removed from the home are evaluated to see if the investigation moves forward.
Around 150 small dogs were removed from a home after deputies and animal control got a tip that the owner of the house was violating the parishâs cruelty ordinance.

A theft at a St. Landry Parish car dealership led to a chase across parish lines Thursday. During that chase, a Grand Coteau police officer even opened fire.
No injuries were reported, but a Baton Rouge woman is facing charges. It was a close call at the dealership, where it all began.
The pursuit started early Thursday morning at Dominique s Auto Sales in Opelousas, when the suspect claimed she was picking up her purchased vehicle.

The St. Landry branch of the National Association of University Women has inducted several new members into the Black History Hall of Fame.
The ceremony took place at Plaisance Elementary School Thursday evening.
Inductees included Coach Kenneth Winfrey, Judge Ledricka Johnson-Thierry, Judge Shaunn Callier-Harden, and Attorney Charles Cravins.
Thursday s event also marked the 30th anniversary of the St. Landry branch of the association.
Chairwoman Dr. Savoynne Williams said the association honors those who may normally go unnoticed. We recognize people around the area who generally don t get recognized. Those people who sit behind the scenes and make everything work, but yet sometimes people don t notice them
