Police search for suspect in Eunice shooting on N. Seventh Street Eunice PD and last updated 2021-03-09 09:42:16-05 Eunice Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a Sunday shooting on N. Seventh Street. According to Chief of Police, Randy Fontenot, officers with the Eunice Police Department are attempting to locate 19-year-old Jasten Thomas of Eunice. He is wanted for four counts of attempted second degree murder for a shooting that occurred in the 300 block of N. Seventh Street Sunday at around 6:45 PM. Fontenot says that officers responded to North Seventh Street on Sunday evening for a complaint of shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered blood , gasoline and shell casings in the street.

Officials say that except for the St. Landry Parish Virtual Learning Academy students, all students will now be in the classroom receiving daily in-person learning. The school system says that after reviewing the LDH data, Superintendent Jenkins decided to return the remaining SLPSB students to face-to-face instruction. He points out that our positivity rate continues to decline for the fourth consecutive week and is currently 2.6 percent.

Sunset man arrested in burglary, shots fired incidents Sunset Police Department and last updated 2021-03-06 14:53:42-05 Sunset Police have made an arrest in a shots fired incident that occurred earlier this week. Police responded to a shots fired call in the areas of Landry Street, Patton Street, and Pershing Hwy around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 3. Witnesses told police a late 2000 model Chevy two-tone pick-up truck had left the scene and investigators found 9mm spent casings in the area. The investigation led police to the described vehicle in the 100 block of Jerry Lane in Sunset, where officers detained 21-year-old Braylon Mouton for questioning. After a written voluntary search of Mouton s residence and vehicle, officers found four spent 9mm casings in his vehicle, two handguns, two AR15 rifles, and one handgun that was sold to an unknown individual, police say.

Officials to update on seizure of dogs from St Landry Parish home

More animals seized this week in St. Landry Parish KATC Photo and last updated 2021-03-05 15:42:08-05 St. Landry Parish Officials provided an update on Friday afternoon to the case involving more than 175 dogs being removed from a home last week. Parish President Jessie Bellard says that last week s investigation at a home on Lago Road, the vet determined that the dogs should be taken from the home because the dogs allegedly had issues including broken jaws and bulging eyes. It was a gruesome sight, Bellard said of last weeks seizure. 11 dogs were picked up on Thursday at a location in Sunset. Bellard says that at least a hundred were probably moved from the location prior to seizure. Numerous empty cages, Bellard says, indicates that more animals were removed.
