The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on May 16 at approximately 1:10 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of State Rt. 318 and Nine Foot Road for a two-car personal injury crash.
Deputies say a vehicle operated by Wendy Wickum, 50, of Newark was eastbound on Rt. 318 when she attempted to pass another vehicle, which was turning north onto Nine Foot Road.
She collided with a vehicle operated by John Scholl, 79, of Waterloo, who was turning onto Nine Foot Road.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Seneca Falls man following an investigation into a claim for public benefits.
Kevin Gillon, 33, was charged with offering a false instrument for filing.
It’s alleged that Gillon intentionally filed a false application for public assistance benefits in which he attempted to defraud the county’s Division of Human Services.
Gillon was processed and released on an appearance ticket for Waterloo Village Court.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 50-year-old Waterloo resident following a welfare fraud investigation.
Deputies say Ronald Miller, 50, of Waterloo was charged with seven counts of offering a false instrument for filing.
He’s accused of failing to disclose household income while receiving monetary benefits from Seneca County DHS.
Miller was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charges at a later date.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 24-year-old Junius resident after a traffic stop.
Maxwell Schoonmaker, 24, was observed speeding, and after investigation was found to be intoxicated.
He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, speeding, no front plate, and no registration sticker.
Schoonmaker was released and will answer the charges at a later date.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two local residents following an investigation into the distribution of controlled substances in the area.
Samuel Eckert, 32, of Waterloo, and Erica Campbell, 22, of Auburn were both arrested after a search warrant was executed at 941 Waterloo-Geneva Rd. A traffic stop was also executed in the town of Seneca Falls as part of that investigation.
Eckert is accused of possessing a sawed off shotgun and rifle with the intent to use those weapons against another person. He was also found to be in possession of crack cocaine.
