Sixty-two-year-old Deonarine Ramphuray is expected to appear virtually before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today charged with possession of ammunition.
According to police reports, during an anti-crime exercise in Maracas officers observed a man seated under a shed with a bag, upon seeing the officers he dropped the bag. Officers searched the bag and found 37 12-gauge cartridges. Ramphuray was subsequently arrested.
As the exercise continued and based on information received, the officers proceeded to a bushy area in Maracas where a search was conducted. As a result of the search, 40 fully-grown marijuana trees were seized and destroyed.
The trees had an estimated street value of $40,000. PC George is continuing the investigations into this matter. The exercises were spearheaded by Snr. Supt Winston Maharaj, Supt Alexander, Supt Ramjohn, ASPs Beharry and Archibald and supervised by Insp Bharath and Sgt. Mitchell, Cpls Gordon and Dhill.

A marijuana eradication exercise in Morvant on Monday morning led to the destruction of 40 fully grown marijuana trees which had a street value of $40,000.
The operation took place under the supervision of Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Ramjohn, Supt Alexander, ASP Beharry, and others.
It was coordinated by Insp Bharath and Sgt Mitchell.
The officers journeyed up a mountain side in the Morvant district where they located the field.
It was recorded and destroyed.
Meanwhile, police are once again reminding citizens that the legal limit of marijuana is 30 grammes.
The reminder comes after 500 grammes of the drug were found along Cunapo Southern Main Road in Sangre Grande.
A fire officer and an accountant were among seven people arrested between Friday and Saturday by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force.
The seven were held during operations supervised by Inspector Sunil Bharath, which saw officers visit several communities in the Morvant, San Juan, and Barataria districts.
One person, said to be the owner of a tattoo shop, was arrested for possession of cocaine, while another was arrested for operating a gaming house in a wholesale liquor mart along Third Avenue, Barataria.
The fire officer and accountant were held for driving under the influence, after leaving the vicinity of Silberts Bar along Third Avenue.
Murder suspect among eight held in Morvant

An early-morning police exercise in Morvant led to the arrest of eight people wanted for several offences, including murder, shootings and theft.
Police said members of the North Eastern Division Task Force, CID, gang unit and canine branch went to several areas in Morvant at around 4 am on Tuesday.
One man identified as the suspect in a Morvant murder last year was among those arrested, and five others were held for shooting. A woman was also arrested for a theft in Morvant.
Police also arrested another man for house-breaking in San Juan earlier this month. They said the exercise targeted suspected members of a newly-formed gang in Morvant.
