It was the township s second attempt at a parks levy. Voters rejected a 2019 request by about 350 votes. I don t know what we d do without (the parks), said Mark Smith, 65, who voted for the levy at First Christian Church on Market Avenue N Tuesday, adding that he and his grandkids use the township s parks.
PLAIN TWP Cracked Egg Cafe is still in its soft opening phase, but business has been so good it ran out of one week s supply of food in two days.
Restaurant owner and founder Zack Manley said he s been overwhelmed by the flood of customers at the new 3110 Whipple Ave. NW location following the recent opening. It s a record-setting open for us for a soft open, he said of Cracked Egg Cafe, which also has locations in South Carolina, Georgia and Daytona Beach, Florida. And it s been absolutely insane.
Drawing customers have been both standard and unconventional breakfast selections scrambled eggs and chipped chop ham, pancake sandwiches and homemade grits with chopped ribeye as well as lunch items, including grilled peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches and turkey-and-bacon clubs.

Municipal races, tax issues to be voted on today
After a high-turnout presidential election in November, a far smaller number of voters are expected to cast ballots in Tuesday s primary in partisan city council contests and on proposed township, village and school tax increases.
More than three in four registered voters in Stark County, more than 191,000 people, voted in November. That s almost certainly not going to happen Tuesday.
The last non-presidential primary took place in May 2019. The turnout then was less than 15%. Fewer than 36,500 voters cast ballots that year when there were where no countywide levy issues. That s the same situation this year.

Polls at 79 locations in Stark County will open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.
Last year s event was canceled as Ohioans remained under state mandated health orders restricting large gatherings. We re just glad they allowed us to do this in-person this year. we re glad COVID is allowing us to do this, Rachita said.
Participants started and finished at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, ran along Fulton Drive and throughout Canton s Ridgewood and Plain Township s Avondale neighborhoods.
Marathon and team relay races started at 7 a.m. and half-marathon runners were released in groups between 8 and 10 a.m.
