Never has it been more important to do your research on a company before doing
business with it.
Check how they handle complaints on HelloPeter, on Twitter, if they have an
account, and do a general Google search for complaints.
Had Cookie done that before buying a bed from The Bed King in Chatsworth, she
may have decided to choose another bed retailer.
If she had Googled the store name she would have found a Public Service
Announcement posted by The Bed King of Cape Town, warning:

If you prefer to let a supermarket till operator do your utility bill paying, it’s a really good idea to check they’ve got the numbers right, warns Wendy Knowler in this week’s Consumerwatch.

Choose the wrong beneficiary or transpose an account number and your money will
end up as an unintentional gift in someone’s account.
That someone may well choose not to give it back, and the bank can’t compel

The popular HP Sauce has been hard to find on South African shelves after Pioneer Foods opted not to renew a licencing deal to supply the brand.
PepsiCo-owned Pioneer Foods caused quite a stir when it revealed that it will no longer be procuring, distributing and selling Lea & Perrins products and HP Sauce under licence from Kraft Heinz, in South Africa, and neighbouring countries.
The licencing agreement expired in May last year and PepsiCo SA says there are no plans to review the decision.
