The Centre Park link road fully opened to traffic in March. The new road, which aims to cut congestion in the town, gives motorists the option of skipping Bridge Foot. As part of the scheme, a new bridge across the River Mersey from Chester Road, just north of Gainsborough Road, has been constructed – joining onto an extended Slutchers Lane leading from Wilson Patten Street. Warrington Borough Council says it is undertaking extensive monitoring of traffic flows on, and in the vicinity of, the new Centre Park link road to assess the impact of the road on the network. It confirmed that initial findings show an average of 9,000 vehicles are currently using the route each weekday, with initial survey data shows the link road is ‘re-distributing’ traffic away from Bridge Foot.

Plans for roof refurb of âhistoric asset of highest importanceâ PLANS to refurbish the roof of the former drill hall, which has fallen into partial repair, are set to be approved. The council’s application to re-roof the site will come before the development management committee at the Parr Hall next Wednesday. It is recommended for approval subject to conditions. The grounds of the Town Hall consist of the main building, along with the West Annexe and East Annexe – all of which are Grade I listed. The Golden Gates in front of the Town Hall are Grade II listed.
PLANS have been drawn up to demolish a characterful building in the town centre and replace it with apartments. Proposals seek permission to level Arpley House on Wilson Patten Street to clear the way for the four-storey development. If approved, the application would see the creation of 74 apartments within walking distance of the town centre. The site also encompasses an existing car park. According to the developer, the top of the door surround on Arpley House would be retained and displayed in a communal garden for residents. It also says that the new development would make more efficient use of the footprint of the site, incorporating basement car parking spaces, a ground floor cycle store and a lobby for residents.
Work has officially been completed on the town’s £19.89million Centre Park Link scheme. A new bridge across the River Mersey from Chester Road, just north of Gainsborough Road, has been constructed, joining onto an extended Slutchers Lane leading from Wilson Patten Street. New signal-controlled junctions have been constructed at each end of the new link on Chester Road and Wilson Patten Street. Warrington Borough Council says the project will support Warrington’s ongoing growth and transform journeys around one the borough’s most busy road networks. The scheme will improve the overall capability of Warrington’s transport network to deal with incidents and will help make journey times shorter and more reliable for motorists and public transport users.
