By Aran Dhillon, Local Democracy Reporter Plans for roof refurb of ‘historic asset of highest importance’ PLANS to refurbish the roof of the former drill hall, which has fallen into partial repair, are set to be approved. The council’s application to re-roof the site will come before the development management committee at the Parr Hall next Wednesday. It is recommended for approval subject to conditions. The grounds of the Town Hall consist of the main building, along with the West Annexe and East Annexe – all of which are Grade I listed. The Golden Gates in front of the Town Hall are Grade II listed.

Orford Hall THIS week in Yester Years, we look back to when Orford Hall was one of the most important buildings in Warrington. The residence of John Blackburne esquire, on present-day Battersby Lane provided a grand southern approach to the hall, which was home to the Blackburne family. The story of the hall and surrounding parkland, now known as Orford Park was told in a book The A-Z of Warrington penned by Warrington historian Janice Hayes. The hall itself was largely rebuilt around 1716 while John Blackburne (1693 to 1786) created its magnificent park lands. Janice said: “The Blackburne family had prospered by their indirect involvement in the notorious slave trade with John Blackburne’s son investing in Salt House Dock at Liverpool, a major port for slavery.

Police Search For Suspects Who Stole $25K Worth Of Items In Fairfield County Business Burglary

Read / Add Comments A group of suspects is on the loose after allegedly breaking into a Fairfield County jewelry store and stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, police said. Three suspects (pictured above) are wanted after being caught entering Manfredi Jewels on Elm Street in New Canaan at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Monday, April 26 by smashing through the front glass door. Police said that three of the four suspects entered the store wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves, while a fourth remained outside as a lookout. According to investigators, watches and jewelry was stolen from the store with an estimated value of approximately $25,000.
