Llano said he was looking forward to connecting with Gruccio during the transition. His plan was to “do some school visits, get into classrooms and meet teachers, meet the kids and meet the community.”
“I look forward to being very engaged and hands-on,” he said, planning to hit the ground running on July 1.
Llano was one of 31 applicants for the post and rose to the top after three rounds of interviews.
“We are very excited about Mr. Llanos’ experience, his passion for the students, and his enthusiasm and desire to come to Vineland,” said board member Kim Codiposti, who chaired the superintendent search committee.

Covid-19 has caused a great loss in one Vineland family, after a daughter and her father died of the virus within two days of one another.
Sheree Coccaro, 62, a security guard at Thomas Wallace Middle School in Vineland, died from coronavirus on Friday at Inspira Medical Center.

According to the Vineland Daily Journal, her father, Charles J. Scarpa Jr., a retired electrician and Vineland volunteer firefighter, died of the virus on Sunday.
Her obituary says Sheree Coccara worked with the Vineland Board of education for 26 years at various schools as a security officer, most recently at the Wallace School.
