INHFA say farmers will be the big losers in climate change and biodiversity proposals Published: Saturday, 17 April 2021 13:42
There is “a real danger that farmers will once again be the big losers” in the push by politicians and NGO’s to embrace ambitious proposals to increase biodiversity and address climate change through designated land policy.
That s the view of the Irish Natura and Hill Farmers Association (INHFA) who have stressed the need to firstly engage with farmers and landowners before any changes are made.
Vincent Roddy of the INHFA says since the late 1990’s farmers have, lost control of their lands as the EU and Irish State has effectively claimed squatters’ rights on their property through the implementation of the SAC and SPA designations.
North Shore Medical Center is now one of five local Tenet Healthcare hospitals to offer the Tele-ER platform, a secure service to access emergency room physicians, treatment and health recommendations remotely.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the launch of the new service, North Shoreâs CEO Matthew Garner revealed it will play a major role in comforting those requiring medical assistance but wary of visiting ERs, especially in Black communities. âEver since the pandemic started, people have been very reluctant to come to the health care setting,â said Garner. âAnybody that has been assessing whether they should come in, this gives them the option to at least get evaluated by medical professionals prior to coming into the setting.â
Irish farms will be continually monitored from space under the next CAP programme, with two European satellites crossing directly over the country every five days.
