Trailers belonging to local Boy Scout troop found, along with other missing items

WALKER, Mich. (AP) â Police have found a pair of trailers allegedly stolen from a local Boy Scout troop.
In a news release, the Walker Police Department said the trailers were recovered on Friday following a tip.
âItâs nice to have them back,â said Scoutmaster Chris Burlew, BSA Troop 281. âThey seem road worthy.â
Last weekend, the troop filed a report after the trailers went missing from American Legion Post 179. At the time, the trailers contained camping supplies, like tents and camp kitchens.

WALKER - A police-sponsored drive that ensures Livingston Parish schoolchildren will have adequate clothing for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year is taking place May 19 through July 16.
The Walker Police Department announced its 2021 From Our Uniform to Yours School Uniform Drive by means of a Wednesday morning news release. The release noted that the annual community program was delayed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will once again take place in full swing this year.
Walker Police Chief David Addison expressed anticipation for the event s return, saying, “We are happy to report that our ‘From Our Uniform to Yours’ school uniform drive has returned. From now through July 16th, we will be collecting new and used school uniforms, as well as monetary donations, in order to

The Walker Police Department on Tuesday swore in Octavia Felder as a reserve officer, WAFB-TV reported. According to the department, Felder is the first black female officer on the force. Walker is located roughly 20 miles (32.1 kilometers) east of Baton Rouge.

He will replace Chief Greg Long on July 31 when Long retires.
Mankel worked his way through the ranks to become police chief. He started as a dispatcher for Walker police in 1993. He was a patrol officer, patrol sergeant and in 2016 was named captain.
He also served nearly seven years as a firefighter for Walker Fire Department.
“Captain Mankel has been a tremendous leader for our city for many years and has a strong following not just within our police department, but also our city staff and other local agencies,” Walker Mayor Gary Carey Jr. said in a statement issued Tuesday, May 11.
